not worth the price

I don't know if I am being the unlucky one or is it because my standard of buffet is high but I think Todai does not worth the money I am paying for. I went on a weekday and it was "abalone night" on that day. There's only one kind of abalone available and it was small, some of it even have this kind of weird smell, which I tell myself it's probably the insides of the abalone since it's fresh (supposedly). The crab legs was not as fresh as I thought. It doesn't have that kind of sweet fresh seafood taste, infact it was VERY salty. Suspect they soaked the crab legs in salt water to prevent it from being bad. The only few dishes which I like are the fanciful sushi, the pasta (crab meat cabonara, pic below) and some of the grill items. Other than that which include the dessert are all... not up to what a $68+++ buffet should be offering. Very disappointed.

Birthday Celebration
Smile 2013-05-12

This is not my 1st time being to Todai, but introducing the elderly to this restaurant is another question (it is a little expensive to them). Also, dinning at MBS to my mum is a big word. However, when we reach Todai, my mum was surprised that it was extremely crowded. As promise, I told her the variety of food was so large that she would be full if she eat one piece each. bowlHer favourite was the Salmon Sashimi and the chef wasn't stingy when serving her. It wasn't true on that day that oysters were limited to 2 per serving, or rather am I just lucky as all my 3 visits, oysters weren't limit to 2 per serving.tongue

All their seafood are fresh and tasty, you could taste the sweetness in the meat. However, despite being there for 3 times, I always find the tray for soft shell crab empty (no matter early or late). Till now, the tastiness of the soft shell crab remain as mystery.

Personally I feel that they should have a few racks for customers to take the extra fork and spoons or serviettes on their own.smile

Alaskan snow crab and oysters
Just OK 2013-04-23

If you like alaskan snow crabs and oysters, this is the place to go for free flow of both. The snow crab legs were really huge and very fresh. The meat was sweet enough With lots of juices in every bite. The oysters were also very fresh without the brine taste being too overpowering. But they had a 2 per person each time limit to prevent hogging. The rest of the buffet spread was decent. Deserving mention includes the macarons and I particularly liked the Baked salmon

All seafood must 'dai'!
Smile 2013-03-28

I must admit, I'm late to the party. Nearly 4 years after the launch of Todai in Singapore, I finally visited the restaurant at its now famed establishment at Marina Bay Sands.

Todai is offers buffet-style dining, with an assortment of international cuisine, hot entrees, cold dishes and desserts. While I had a great time going around sampling dishes like Smoked Duck with Apple, slices of roast beef or even picking out macarons from the uniquely-shaped, pyramid macaron tower.

But what really had me going, to the extent of forgetting to take photographs, was the seafood section. Plates upon plates of delectable seafood - mussels, oysters, sushi, not forgetting fresh sashimi of Salmon and Tuna.

   Sashimi 'Boat'

AND Todai's signature snow crab legs! Stacks upon stacks of snow crab legs, big plump and juicy. To crack the shell and pull out an entire chunk of succulent crab meat is already an enjoyment in itself.

   CRABS

Just to illustrate how big the crab legs were.

   Crab Leg Telescope!

At $80 a pop ($72 because of a 10% discount from UOB), a buffet dinner at Todai can be pretty pricey and tough for the walllet. But just to experience the seafood galore, and just indulge in all the snow crab you can eat? I'll go again!

Spaghetti
Just OK 2013-03-09

I have a mixed thoughts of this buffet restaurant after my dinner with my fellow colleagues. THe foods taste not bad, but the cleanliness here will need to be improved. The plates are quite sticky and some food stain can be found at the back of most of the plate. Over here, one of my favourite is the spaghetti. Counter chef will cook it upon order, which is chewy and not overly flooded with the sauce.

Vday dinner at Today
Smile 2013-03-02

I had my Vday dinner at Todai, the international buffet restaurant at Marina Bay Sands. We didn't opt for the Vday special which was $160++, including sparkling wine, a chance to win a stay in MBS and some in-house entertainment. We had the regular dinner buffet which amounts to about $160 for two.

I must say, it was a really good experience over there and worth the money. The spread of food was good. What we loved especially was the raw sashimi which was so fresh and tender, they melt in your mouth! The selection of seafood included the Snow crab and Alaska crab. My bf had the oysters too. Which was very fresh in his words. (The queue for them were so long!)

Disappointingly, I thought the selection for desserts were rather limited and not exactly what I would have expected after having such a sumptuous meal.

Todai Buffet
Smile 2013-02-20

Went to Todai at Marina Bay Sands Shoppes for buffet

The first few items I must get. The seafood and Japanese section!

You can see it's all the huge legs of the crabs !
The meat is thick and fresh!

Some of the seafood

They limit the osyter to 2 per pax whenever you go and take.
And they will open the fresh osyter on the spot for you.
Same as the salmon, they will cut for you too !
To me, it's super fresh and chewy

For choices of sushi

They served western food too

Not forgetting about the desserts!

Worth the $!
Smile 2013-01-22

An international cuisine buffet, I was impressed by the spread that they have.
I loved the sashimi bar especially, the oysters were fresh, to-die-for.
There is a lot of food choices so don't take too much of one item cos then you'll have a hard time trying everything.
The soups were also good, but I stayed away from the pasta, didn't like it that much.
The dessert spread isn't bad, but I have to say I like the fact that they serve cold milo!

The price is worth it considering I ate a lot of oysters tongue

Todai
Smile 2013-01-03

Always wanted to have the buffet dinner at Todai. Heard alot about the spread and the food they offered was really nice but the pricing always deterred me from do that. Since got my AWS , decided to pamper myself.

True enough, the spread they offered was really impressive. Ranging from Japanese sushi, sashimi to western grills to Korean BBQ, they really lived up to the name of international buffet.

Though the price is abit steep, but it is really worth the money!

Snow Crab At Todai
Smile 2012-12-27

I had tried Todai at Marina Bay Sands during my last company gathering a few weeks ago. They offer a quite range of foods such as Seafood, Chinese, Korean, Mexican, Italian and some other international food menu. The price is quite reasonable for me as I mostly eat their Snow Crab. The Snow Crab they serve was fresh and tasty. I filled even a full 3 plates of Snow Crab. Since it is quite difficult to find a restaurant which serve a good and fresh Snow Crab. There were also many more good food there such as Tempura, Sashimi, Sushi, Salads, Barbeque, Cakes and many more.

Bad experience with Todai restaurant
Cries 2012-10-17

DO NOT recommend for family who has a child between 2-3 years old as who will get charge even through your child not eating or minimal amount of food.

Visited 14Oct2012. Its my wife's birthday. We didn't managed to book another restaurant and ended up going to this one. Me, my wife, mother-in-law and 2yr 10month toddler.Food. All lousy. This is what I'm haven't been able to erase from my memory... Chilli crab is not bad but you have to wait for the chef to cook and its rationed by the chef (like the army) 2 pieces per pax. Cold Crab leg...no big deal. Oysters small and not fresh...taste soggy, drown it with tabasco before you down it please. Grill stuff, the shishamo was already cold and taste like rubber. The pasta, carbonara was miserable noodle with 1frozen prawn and 1 piece of frozen squid.Variety of food is limited.Presentation is like what other reviewers mentioned. Big plates, little food. Makes you feel miserable taking that last piece under the watchful eyes of the chefs.Worst experience was my kid was sleepy and I signed the bill without checking. We realised we were charged SGD26++ for child. We called the next day and staff Romel interrogated us if our child was above 80cm to 130cm bec they have this policy. I visited their website and told his there is no mention of 80cm (see below). In any case, how much can my less than 3 year toddler eat up in your restaurant? I ask he get his manager to call me tomorrow. 15Oct12. Next day, this staff Romel called again and said his manager wants to review the CCTV cameras to check. I ask what is he checking and he replied he will be checking the height of my child and if my child ate anything in the restaurant! Absolutely Ridiculous!!! Later in the day, the manager finally called and he insisted he had to do further Investigations...and will call back.I would really really tell my friends and fellow diners here that there are alot better buffet restaurants out there....the line, carousel that you can go and enjoy dinner....don't not bother by such petty charges.Dinner MON, WED Adult: S$58++ Child (below 1m 30cm): S$26++ TUE, THU (SPECIAL DAYS) Adult: S$68++ Child (below 1m 30cm): S$26++ FRI Adult: S$68++ Child (below 1m 30cm): S$26++ SAT, SUN, PH, PH EVE Adult: S$68++ Child (below 1m 30cm): S$26++

Sashimi
Smile 2012-07-29

Those who loves to eat raw foods and sashimi, this international buffet restaurant will be able to impress your taste buds. The sashimii here are very fresh and juicy. The chef will only prepare the sashimi upon your order so to ensure the freshest plate of sashimi is presented to you. Dip in the wasabi soya sauce, it is simply so delicious and make you want crave for more. Their fresh oyster and cold prawns are equally delicious as well.

Buffet Lunch
Smile 2012-07-28

One thing I really like about this buffet is that they offers lots of wide range of japanese sushis and cold dishes on their buffet spreads, which are all my favourite foods. Their sushi are very fresh and the japanese rice used in making the sushi are very firm and delicious. The raw salmon topped on the sushi are very fresh and tasty. Their cold prawns are also very fresh and crunchy too. Since it is free flow,I can eat until I am satisfy, which I really like it!

Buffet @ TODAI
Just OK 2012-07-23

As suggested by my friend to try it out here since it looks yummy in the website. And also, during 1 of the K-Pop Singer's Fans Meet, he had chilli crab here. lol

There crabs, lobster, sashimi and etc, they are really FRESH! 1 thing i don't kinda like is that some of the food which are placed in heat, tasted kinda cold. sad

They had this sweet rice drink, it doesn't looks nice, BUT it taste nice. DO TRY IT OUT WHEN YOU ARE THERE! lolsmile

After all, the price is worthwhile for! tongue

Something that pissed us off is that while eating, the service staff will approach us again and again asking us to settle the bill. huffy She sounds like we will leave after eating w/o paying. Times that she approached us is when we are eating crabs and lobster, it's kinda inconvenient you see.sad
