Ever since I tried the Portuguese egg tarts from Lord Stow's on the chilly shores of Coloane, I knew it's going to be hard to find anything better than that (I wolfed down three of those at one go). Every single time I see somewhere that claims to offer original Portuguese egg tarts, I'm tempted to try and see if I can finally get something similar to it but closer to home. I was at Tanjong Katong Road when the Madeleine's Original Egg Tart caught my eye. With its piping hot, glistening and golde

With its piping hot, glistening and golden crispy layering, it does look the part of those yummy egg tarts back in Macau. Yet with a bite, there was still something missing, perhaps a more generous buttery fragrance, the lack of a slightly torched surface... almost there, but not yet for the picky tastebuds. Well, egg tarts still make for awesome afternoon treats anyway... especially on rainy days like these.

I had tried this, initially i though it was the same famous Margaret egg tart from macau, but then my first bite i realise it is different even i though is same brand. The macau one is nicer. However, in Singapore this is 1 of the good egg tart that we can have. Macau tarts' top part is harder then middle part is very soft, and sugar level is just nice for me and u can eat many and still hungry. As compared, this although is nice, but is kinda of more filling, i ate 2 and quite full to go for ne

I'm not a big fan of egg tarts but i love the ones here!! the best egg tart that i have in singapore. The crust is crispy and it has this very nice egg taste, abit of milk taste and it is very delicious. More richer taste than the other egg tarts sold elsewhere. for 6 of them i have paid $7.50 for it which i find it quite value for money. I always come here to buy after having punggol nasi lemak (katong branch) as it is just nearby I highly recommend their egg tarts!

Madeleine's egg tarts are the Portuguese egg tart type. They are slightly more substantial than regular egg tarts having more dairy taste to them. The type of pastry used for this one is the flaky type which has layers of crumbly pastry that hold together well. The custard is smooth and sweet without being too overwhelmingly sweet and matches the crisp crust well. Priced at 1.50 for one, they are not extremely expensive but neither are they cheap.

The Portuguese egg Tarts are not bad. A nice change from regular egg tarts, these have a slightly more interesting flavour being slightly richer and more dairy like. The pastry is nice and flaky, maintaining its crisp and buttery flavour for quite awhile after purchasing. Even the next day, when heated up in a toaster oven, the egg tarts still taste very fresh and yummy. A good choice for a snack or breakfast

I much prefer Portuguese egg tarts to regular ones because they taste more complex in flavour. They tend to be more milky tasting And thus richer in taste as compared to regular ones. Really like the ones here which when freshly made have a nice crisp crust encasing soft smooth custard. The combination is very good together and the tart though abit pricey at $1.50 is definitely worth a try.

the egg tarts here are pretty good. The pastry is crisp and very flaky such that when you bite into it, it starts to fall apart. I like my egg tarts warm and when hot from the oven the warm custard is absolutely delicious. Slightly milky in taste, the tasty custard goes with the buttery pastry, complementing it. The whole combination works well and is definitely worth a try

The Best Egg Tarts ever! I have been patronizing this shop for years, since i was young. It is a must go whenever you are in tanjong katong. This shop sells the nicest eggs tarts which it is also famous for. The crust is in a uniquely diamond shape, and it is crisp and light to taste. The egg is also very soft and the sweetness is just right. The only downside is that the price has been increasing through the years

I just happened to walk around tanjong katong when i smell a strong fragrant egg tart. So, i went to have a look. The egg tart look delicious. They cooked it into a very nice golden fluffy appearance. When u bite the egg tart, the outer skin is very crispy and the egg is smooth and soft. Normally, some egg tarts do not have a lot of egg filling. But, this egg tart has a lot of egg fillings. So, for egg lovers like me, do try it out(:

my favourite portugese egg tart besides the one found in Macau has to be Madeline'sits crispy on the outside, soft and tender in the inside, very aromatic - it makes a good sweet treat. Tried both the small & large ones - I found crust for the small ones to be thickerdespite this. im still loving it !

My girlfriend and I simply love portuguse egg tarts. We simply love the charred look on the top of the tart. This stall really served good portuguese egg tarts. The pastry casing is really good, very cripsy yet if flakes and crumbles when you bite into it. the egg custard filling is so delicious, soft and very smooth. it is not too sweet and most important the top is charred just nicely.

Madeleine's Original Portuguese Egg Tart is one of the best eg tarts I’ve ever tried. It contains an egg custard filling that instantly melts in your mouth softly, making it imposible to just stop at 1! You could actually taste the natural flavours of the ingredients rather than artificial sugary sweetness. The flakey crust is also not very thick, providing a very delicious based to the egg tart. Awesome!

Egg tarts sold at Madeleine's Original Portuguese Egg Tart is really delicious. I am all thumbs up for it. The egg tarts are freshly baked at the right temperature and the sweetness level of the custard is just right as well. It costs around $1.50 each for the big ones and $2.50 for 3 mini sized egg tarts.
