As the shop name seems to indicate desserts as their specialty, I have only tried their desserts so far like the Mango Pomelo Sago, Almond Sesame Paste etc., but not their mains before. This time, I came here for dinner with my mom! I ordered the Braised Beef Noodles (Dry) which consists of chunks of beef and tendon. The beef was tender and flavorful smile I did not actually expect their mains to be good as well.

   Braised Beef Noodles, $6.90

We also ordered the Custard Buns to share and this is a must-try! As I slowly break the bun into half, I can see the piping hot molten lava filling inside and the salted egg yolk and sweet custard is a yummy combination. Very savoury! I am definitely coming back here to try their other food items!

Dessert before Sunday ends
Smile 2013-01-28

Sunday was well-spent with family and friends. I spent my afternoon with my friends and ended well after this dessert session. We went to Tampines 1 for window shopping and decided to have desserts for tea time. Hong Kong Sheng Kee has several branches around Singapore and well-known with its hong kong fruits desserts. It is located at Basement 1, Tampines 1 which is a walking distance from Tampines MRT station.

 Menu

All the branches shared the same concept and theme. There is a self-service counter which allows customers to order and make payment. The desserts are then served by the staffs. We ordered Mango Aloe Vera Sago @S$5.30. Love the colours of the mango. It taste as sweet as it looks. The dessert can ease thirst with aloe vera combination.

We also ordered Avocado Float @S$5.90. This is my first time trying avocado as dessert and i am loving it. The avocado taste is rich.

Next, we have Black glutinuous rice with coconut ice-cream & honey pearls @S$4.30. The black glutinuous rice taste strong and the combination with the coconut ice-cream was just nice. Coconut ice-cream doesn't taste too sweet and it blends well with the combination. Good job on this..

The branch was full house that afternoon but the turnover was fast. We managed to find seats after a while. The staffs diligently clear the tables so that the next customers can start to enjoy the desserts. If wish to have fruits desserts, you may consider to drop by for a quick one.

Mango Sago Pomelo
Smile 2010-12-14

Hong Kong Sun Kee Dessert newly opened branch at Serangoon Nex Shopping mall. They are having a promotion for Mango Sago Pomelo which is going at only 2 bucks! Original Price will be $4.80.. The taste is sorta comparable to Ah Chew dessert which is located at Liang Seah Street. Just that in this case, the sago was a little smaller and harder. I personally still prefer Ah Chew dessert but since this is cheaper and taste somewhat alike, i'll be going for it till the promotion ends! =)

It just doesnt taste or look good.
Cries 2010-11-28

Me and family chanced upon this dessert cafe while at the basement of Tamp 1. The poster at the entrance looks good at depicting all the various chinese desserts so we decided to give it a try. We ordered a bowl of almond paste and a bowl of glutinous choco mango. I'm not sure how the almond paste tasted like cuz dad ate that. But for the glutinous choco mango, i'm utterly disappointed with it. I didnt know how much it costs as i didnt pay for it. When i heard that it costed $5.30, i got a SHOCK of my life. shockedTo bring justification to the bowl of dessert, just take a look at my pictures. Not sure if the glutinous rice is supposed to stick so tightly to each other (like long lost lovers). And next, the mango cubes were sweet and it just goes wrong with the sour taste (like pomelo kind of sour) in the blended ice. And also, the blended ice wasnt really that well 'blended'. I found chunks of ice and i just didnt want to break them into tiny pieces with my spoon. I've left a feedback form on their table before leaving and hope they will do something about the quality of their desserts.
