Chilled soya bean curd pudding is indeed a really nice and refreshing dessert on a hot afternoon. After feasting at the Old Airport Food Centre, do drop by Lao Ban to get your dose of chilled bean curd dessert! Everyone (including me) raves about the fresh soya bean curd pudding that literally melts in your mouth. What probably sets Lao Ban from apart from other competitors is its nice wrinkly top layer of beancurd which has a slightly firmer, milkier consistency and taste.

back again!
Smile 2013-05-01 (Related Review)

And we are back again here at Lao Ban! Simply love the silky smooth bean curd pudding. I always order the original flavour since I feel it's the tastiest of all. The bean curd always has a very thin layer on top that has a different texture. They also sell soya milk as well but I haven't get to try it. The price is very affordable at $1.50 and the queue is always long despite having many competitors at the same hawker center.

Beancurd Pudding
Smile 2013-04-29

Lao Ban is one of the first few beancurd pudding that spark the whole rave of beancurd pudding. The beancurd is really smooth and not that sweet. I really like it as compare to all the other beancurd pudding brands that came out after that.

It was free due to OCBC Frank card benefits to student in NTU and they were giving out lao ban as an exam welfare for a whole week.

   老伴豆花

老伴豆花

In the past, If you ever step into Old Airport Road Hawker Centre, 老伴豆花 is a must try...

Now, everywhere is 老伴豆花...but then as usual, there always long queue...

The beancurd looks so ordinary, plain. But well, looks can be deceiving! This beancurd is so soft, smooth, silky and looks like a jelly pudding...And unlike the normal beancurd (Tau Huay) that most Singaporeans are familiar with, this does not comes with sweet syrup. In terms of taste and melt in the mouth sensation, theirs is unbeatable...

At $1.50, this is a relatively cheap dessert!!! lol

superb beancurd!
Smile 2013-04-18

Lao Ban beancurd is really a special type of beancurd that I've eaten so far. It tasted really smooth and silky that melts in your mouth right away! I've tasted many different beancurds that is similar to Lao Ban but Lao Ban is still by far the best (in my opinion). The queue is really long here especially during peak hours. It is almost a "must eat" dessert every time I visit Old Airport Road.

standards dropping
Just OK 2013-04-01

I have been buying at this stall since it first opened. When it first opened, the quality was consistent with the amount given generous. As the popularity of this stall grew, it seems that the quality is declining with some bowls too sweet or not smooth enough (a critical component of such tau huay). Moreover, the amount given seems to be declining with less in each bowl. This is a pity. At 1.50, it's OK. Not fantastically good as before but still passable.

Yummy beancurd
Smile 2013-03-08

I've tried the original and the almond flavour. I got hooked up onto the original flavour but I didn't like the almond one as I dislike almond in the first place. The beancurd is smooth and silky. There is an extremely thin layer on top which I feel has a powdery aftermath sometimes. Besides that, the taste is really good. It is not overly sweet and is very addictive especially when you eat it on a hot day!

I am a lao ban and where is my beancurd?
Smile 2013-03-01

Upon hearing the awesomenness of a good bean curd... my friends and i decided to head on down to old airport road hawker centre to visit my long time friend.

After a week at work and a place full of chaos... what better way to end with a place at old airport road! Unfortunately, there wasn't any airport there... how unfortunate... was looking forward to see some airline there...

Anyways... thats not the point... after ordering my plate of hokkien mee which was pretty ok... i went to order a container of lao ban beancurd... i wanted to know what the hell was so good about this place! Upon eating my reaction went.... "DAAAAAAAMMMMMNNNN" this is really really good stuff... i cant describe the taste except that it was cold... and smooth and slides down your throat soothingly and yea i wanted to have another bowl but i wasnt sure after eating all the crazy crazy crazy stuff that day!

Lao Ban bean curd is like a magically combination of awesome smooth tastes in your mouth! So i actually wanna know who is this lao ban we are talking about?? I must say this... if you cant handle any bean curd... i have only one word to tell you... no its not Damn... but the word is 'try'!

You will not regret it! Trust me...

lao ban tao huay
Just OK 2013-02-28

the craze of lao ban tempt me to try it. they are opening more and more stores or franchise. having seen so many photos of lao ban, i am trying it now.

   lao ban

i tried the normal one and it is really smooth and it really melts inside my mouth. the normal one is $1.50 and the almond one is $2. for me personally, i prefer hot beancurd hence lao ban is not really to my liking as it is served only chilled.

Beancurd Delight
Smile 2013-02-21

The Food
Unlike most other tau huay stalls in Singapore which offer beancurd to be enjoyed either hot or cold, Lao Ban’s version is served exclusively chilled
I ordered the cold soya bean milk and beancurd cold to be takeaway
The beancurd was soft and silky and sweetness just nice.

The Service
As I went on weekday evening, hence super long queue

The Ambience
As the stall is located at Old Airport road hawker center, hence well-ventilated and not stuffy

The Price
Reasonably priced at $1.50 each

Overall
I will definitely come back again and highly recommended to try this!

Lao Ban
Smile 2013-02-11

Super smooth and delicious soya beancurd! The flavour is the soya bean is defined and distinguishable, and is much more prominent than competing stalls. Not too expensive at $1.50 per soya beancurd, this makes for a affordable treat anytime of the day. Especially good served chilled to beat the heat on a scorching day. By far my favourite soya beancurd place

Lao Ban Beancurd in the Office!
Smile 2012-12-30

Beancurd frenzy is all round Singapore since last year.I have yet to try out Lao Ban Beancurd till my colleague offered me a bowl in the office. Having good reviews and side talks about the pudding like beancurd, of course, I did not hesitate and try it out.

As I put in the first mouthful of Lao Ban Beancurd, it melted in mouth and slide down my throat. Its silkiness and not-so sweet taste attracted my senses and made me gluped down the bowl of beancurd within minutes. It really differs from those sold in the market and hawker centres where the beancurd are not so smooth and silky.

This beancurd concept of refridgerating it and make it pudding like will be here to stay in Singapore as it is considered a healthy snack. smile

Smooth Beancurd
Smile 2012-11-15

With the recent craze in "Tau Huey" (beancurd), stalls are poping up everywhere. Mum went to old airport and bought from Lao Ban not knowing which stalls is good.

   Beancurd $1.50

The beancurd comes in a plastic tub with their brand and logo of a couple printed on it. At first bite, it taste very sweet, I suspect the sugar syrup was on top. It got better towards the bottom of the tub when the syrup sink down. It has a peculiar taste which I cannot tell what flavour it is, but I suspect the syrup is cooked with pandan leave. The beancurd was velvety smooth. The beancurd melt in the mouth.

Eat for fun
Smile 2012-09-20

This lao ban beancurd costs $1.50 and the beancurd was smooth. The quality of the beancurd has dropped quite a bit over the years, with sometimes me having to eat less tasty beancurd. It has a slight soybean taste but does not leave a dry feeling on your tongue after eating, also I do not feel sick after one bowl. Moreover, it is best eaten cold and best not to shake too much if asked for takeaway.
