The Manhattan Fish Market

i had a disappointing dining experience at Manhattan fish market. We ordered the Manhattan flaming prawns palatte with 8 prawns in it and some fries. I had actually asked to replaced the fries with their rice, however, without informing us that the rice cooker was spoiled, then served it with the fries instead. Then the worst part of all is the prawns. It was not fresh at all! The prawns are unable to detach from their shell and was smaller than the usual size. I asked the waiter to do an exchange for me. The prawns all are not fresh.

So after half an hour my food was served again on my table and this time the prawns are much bigger and fresher. It can be easily detached from shell! Definitely X100 times nicer than before.

The total price costs us $23.49 which i think is reasonable. But the long waiting time and the lack of manpower is really quite a major problem they are facing now. So i will not recommend you if you are in a rush!

The picture above shows Manhattan fish and chips which is having one for one promotion ended during 30/4/2013! Since is one for one, my friend and I actually paid around $9.00 plus each and the portion was not been reduced (I though they will reduce the size by half since the price was reduced by half, LOL). Honestly speaking, I always prefer Manhatten fish and chips only a lot of other restaurants, but not their fries. It is too “fat” and thick, which actually destroy the mouth feel of fries should be! So I hope that I can replace the fries by other side dishes or let consumers had a choice to choose. The waiting there is acceptable with the number of customers in the restaurant!

Had dinner at The Manhattan Fish Market because I bought a coupon for a good discount. It seems that there are lots of promotions going on so do not ever ever ever pay full price regardless of lunch or dinner. Anyway, popularity of The Manhattan Fish Market is quite obvious; the restaurant was full although the waiters were somewhat inattentive. We ordered two fish and chips and they were decent. The fries were a little soggy so somewhat a letdown (hate soggy fries). But it's a good deal.

This is their popular Fish and chips. The fish they used here is fresh battered dory fish fillets, served with Garlic Herb Sauce.
The fish is really fresh and the battered outer layer is really thin, which gives you a very pleasuring bite. It comes with fries as sides too!
Manhattan Flaming Seafood Platter ($37.95)

Thought the price may be a little steep, I think this can still be a sinful indulgence as you share between you and your friends. What's great about this is when they made a dramatic entrance as they use the lighter to melt the cheese cod roe on that mentai prawn, right in front of you! Not to forget this platter is awesomely packed. It comes with two huge pieces of fish, how not to love this platter? Sizzling brownie with ice cream

The last dish we had was a dessert - something to do with brownie, something to do with ice cream. But I guess you'll never expect it to be on a hot sizzling pan!

THAT, is exactly the special point about it.

By placing the brownie on a sizzling hot pan, you will be having the chilled ice cream on a constantly warm brownie. But be sure to eat it quick before the ice cream melts! Overall, I love this dessert and I don't mind coming back for it.

Manhattan Fish Market is usually packed with people and a long queue outside. Make sure you make a reservation to avoid queuing!

Patronized Manhattan because there was a groupon deal. The Bugis branch is spacious and less crowded compared to other branches, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The fish & chips from Manhattan, although crispy, its batter is not too flavourful. Nevertheless, Manhattan has a wide selection of dishes, and the spicy grilled fish is not too bad as well, worth a try. They are also expanding their selection of dishes

Is a good place to have dinner here, I ordered a small grill. Cost me $19.90. Wait for 10 minutes, the food is here. It served with butter rice and fries together with grilled fish and freshly prawns. The taste was delicious and flavorful. I like it so much!

it is a place great for meet up because it is big and there are awesome platters to share with friends. i ordered the seafood platter for 2. it is more worthwhile as compared to those of single servings, so bring a friend along! Since their platter has more serving than just fish and chips. as shown in the picture, if one just ordered fish and chips, there will not be seafood available.

the food was alright but the condiments were the one that added more flavoring.

The batter is so crispy yet the mushroom is soft and juicy. It goes well with the sauce provided. The mushrooms do not have a strong taste while the honey mustard sauce has a heavier taste so both flavours did not clash.Garlic herb mussels ($7.95)

My favourite too!! Brownie is warm and moist (it reminds me so much of molten chocolate cake) and goes perfectly with the vanilla ice-cream!

I have been having the deep fried items in this restaurant whenever I visit here. THis is my first time having the grilled item and was quite excited on its taste. Food was served to me in ten minutes and the service here was also quite friendly. Love their garlic rice which is quite fragrant and the portion is also quite alot. The dory fish was not really tasty and I thought it was abit soggy too Vegtables was too plain as well.

I had been to other branches before and this is one of the branches that really make my day. The staffs here were very friendly and cheerful.

The Flamed Triple treats which was on promotion right now, order a set get the soup and drink free. Usual price $17.95 without soup and drinks. Total damage $39.75 with complimentary 2 pieces of mentos.

The Manhattan Fish Market located at, Bugis+.
Feeesh 'n Cheeese. The cheese is addictive that I ordered extra 1 for the dipping.
The fish were serve fresh and hot.Tasty! The sourness and spicy plays a big part in this dish.
A must have for Spicy and Sour lover.Lastly, dessert which disappoints me. It doesn't taste brownie at all.
Nit chocolatey as I expected..

The dish came at a very long time and to my surprise as it was my first time eating at Manhattan, rumor has it that their portion is fairly huge. To my dismay, it was in a special smaller bowl of wok, which I felt 'cheated' because of the discount given. I'm not so sure if this is the original portion size so Openricers, give a say if you order this steamed fish menu and it is this size.

The pumpkin soup tasted bland. I added a load of salt and black pepper.

Taste however can't be cheated as the fish is very much softly cooked, dissolving in your mouth in an instant with the fresh appetizing herb sauce spritz with lemon!! Vegetables were boiled of carrots and brocolli in a small sized portion. The rice also, was in small portion.

Other than the service and portion, I have to give for the taste. It's goooood!

Big big clapss to our birthday girl, Vanessa!! Happy birthday!! It is another year happier not older!! Haha. We choose this restaurant is because the variety of food. The serving portion is quite big then we can share together. We ordered the famous fish and chip!!There will be the reason I like this kind of celebration. The time we sharing food which is the time team-building!! Cheers up!!

Came here during lunch time. This place is much quieter compared to the other restaurants across the street. It's a great place if you want to have a quiet lunch. During lunch time, there's set lunch available for you to choose from. There's even a choice of a lighter portion or a regular portion, with the price being cheaper for the light portion. I tried their seafood aglio olio. All set lunches come with a soup. The soup of the day when I went was cream of mushroom! There were many mushroom pieces in the soup. The serving of the pasta is really generous. It was served with two pieces of mussels and lots of prawns and squids. At the price of $9.90 per set (excluding service charge and GST), this is really worth it!

If you are a fan of fish & chips, you have most probably tried this from The Manhattan Fish Market. I did and i liked it. The dory fish fillets were coated with a thin layer of batter and fried it well. It tasted quite fresh and did not taste too oily at all. They served the well fried fillets with garlic butter and tartar sauce. I like it with extra garlic butter and tartar sauce though. It served with a good portion of french fries that made this a filling meal.
