Bread Choice
Smile 2013-05-14

Finally get to try on their bread. I always have doubt if they can make nice bread like other bakeries or confectioneries. And now it proves me wrong.

The popular choice po luo bao never fails in the taste and texture. Soft texture and the sweetness is spread all over.

The other one is topped with some oreo flakes and is special as the side of it is crispy. A little bland but the taste is blend with the oreo chocolate flakes.

I guess their bread texture are almost the same. And so is the yam paste bread. The taste of yam is on the external instead and thus the bread texture can be felt more obvious every bite. The sweetness level is just nice.

Another plus point is that their bread is not that dry and very buttery taste too which brings out the aroma of the different types of bread.

pie
Smile 2013-05-07

Crystal jade bakery has these really interesting pies which are sweet and salty at the same time. The pastry is sweet like a dessert pastry but the filling is savory similar to a chicken pie. The pastry is very crumble and breaks apart upon the slightest pressure while the filling is almost like mashed potato with not much chicken pieces although its called a chicken pie. Despite these flaws the pastry is still very tasty!

sponge cake
Smile 2013-01-08

As there is an outlet nearby, I will frequently get breads from Crystal Jade after I am done with electronics shopping at IMM. I quite like the sponge cake here as it is what I used to enjoy last time and I find that the taste is rather similar to what I had last time as well, though the price is so much more expensive now. The cake is very light tasting and the texture is really good – soft, spongy without being too airy. I love it dipped with milk tea as well as it gives the cake another flavour.

char siew po lo buns
Smile 2011-12-09

Knowing that my boys like the char siew po lo buns from Crystal Jade, I decided to get some back for them since I was at IMM and there is an outlet at level 1. This Crystal Jade outlet is relatively smaller as compared to its other outlets, but since the po lo buns are what they are famous for, it would definitely be sold there if it isn't out of stock. I got 4 buns in together, all with char siew. Even though it is only eaten next morning, it is still as good as freshly brought. I love the char siew as it is not too dry nor wet and the taste is sweet and a little salty.

Po lo bun!;D
Smile 2011-10-27

Crystal jade is known for their hongkong po lo bun.(:
As how it is heard, it taste delicious;D
I tried the BBQ pork po lo bun.
Although I do not know what the bun is made of, I like the sweet taste of the top layer of the bun. It is also crispy^^ the bbq pork in it is rich in flavour too;D

To make it taste nicer, I have been recommended by my aunt to bake it again in the oven when we are going to have it. It will be crispier and tastier ;D

If I pass by any crystal jade my bread again, I will definitely try out other flavours too.(:

glutinous rice pancake
Smile 2011-08-29

i was walking pass crystal jade my bread, I decided to buy myself some breakfast so I don’t have to rush with the morning crowd. As it was pretty late, there was nothing much left. I bought the glutinous rice pancake with red bean filling. By the time I ate it the next day, it was no longer the chewy feeling I touched it. it kind of harden away. The red bean filling was too much and it was oozing everywhere. The red bean filling was kind of sweet, it went well with the bland glutinous rice pancake.

Wife's biscuit
Smile 2011-05-24

I love the bread and pastries from Crystal Jade. If only they could open more outlets..

I bought the original wife's biscuit (lao po bing) in a box of 4. The skin is very crispy and fresh. The filling is fragrant and not too sweet. You can heat it up in the oven and it tastes even better. The biscuit does not feel oily. It is definitely one of the better lao po bing around.

There are other flavors, such as the the lotus paste.

Bread
Smile 2011-03-31

Crystal Jade Bakery is not as commonly found as the other chain outlets, but this bakery has some really nice bread which I love so much.

The top on the list is the almond milk bread. There are almond bits on the outside and milk powder filling inside. The milk powder is quite sweet and very milky. The tag says that it is only found at crystal jade bakery, but I don't know how true is that.

Another on the list, is the char siew bo luo bun. The crispy buttery layer on top of the bread, together with the well marinated char siew inside. Yummy.
