Puck Best Noodles-sweet and sour chicken with rice
Smile 4 days ago

Puncak was recommended by one of my friends. She told me that the Tom Yam there was superb (but I did not order that dish as i cannot take spiciness). well, so i tried the sweet and sour chicken instead! The food was served on a normal purple chicken rice plate and does not look appealing at all. Even the rice scoop unevenly. Kind of disappointed with my friend's recommendation, however, the taste was nice. The chicken was hot and the sauce was spread well over each pieces of chicken and the pineapple was not sour at all! Will definitely go try again! smile

Not the best, but good for re-visit!
Just OK 7 days ago

Friends were feeling nostalgic, so they suggested having dinner at "Puncak - Best Noodles/ Halal Muslim Food" @ Far East Plaza! For those of you who went shopping at Far East Plaza long enough, you should have seen known that they have been there for many years!

They do not provide saucer for condiments, so you have to put the condiments directly on your own dish.

Claypot Chicken Rice, which we all feel that it's just normal fried rice in claypot

Wantan Mee. I tasted that pool of red sauce & I find it a tad too sweet

Thai Fried Rice, but somehow it taste more like Salted Fish Fried Rice to me

Beef Char Siew Rice. I find the Char Siew a bit too dry

Salad Youtiao - the usual stuff u get from all other zichar

Roast Chicken. Nothing to rave about & it's kind of cold

Fried Wanton. Super crispy & served with a small portion of dark soy sauce. Not really super nice, but we still end up ordering another portion of it after finishing the first plate! Both plates are of "Large" portion by the way!

Sambal Sotong - not the usual spicy sambal & it's a little sweet. I still prefers the usual spicy sambal you get from those BBQ stalls

Apart from these, we also ordered Stir Fried Kailan & Seafood Horfun. The total bill comes up to $78.10 which is quite cheap considering the amount of food we ordered!

What's fat & juicy and covered with sweet sauce?
Just OK 2012-12-20

The crowds at Puncak can get a lil crazy, pays to go there a little early before the lunch crowd starts coming in. Please do not wait to be seated while the server take their own sweet time to attend to you. ;)

They have like 40 over dishes on their menu. From Wanton Noodles to Chicken Curry Set to Char Kway Teow. Their char kway teow is only $4 for the standard serving and the typical $1 extra for more cockles.

It was moist and slightly greasy. Just the right amount of sweet dark sauce to accent the savoriness with those fat juicy cockles!lol And on a plus side, it's halal. smile

Will definitely be back for more but not anytime soon! Gotta keep my cholesterol level in place!

Not that great dinner
Just OK 2012-12-14 (Related Review)

Had the fried wonton from Puncak and was pleasantly surprised to find that it's quite nice. Crunchy, not too greasy and with a good meaty filling, it's a good snack to have while waiting for the main dish. It comes with a sweet black soya dipping sauce that matches well with the fried goodies.

This is the Stir Fried Beef Kway Teow. I didn't really like this too much as it was super oily and the beef wasn't very tender. It didn't have as good a flavor as the normal Char Kway Teow.

Oily Local Treat
Smile 2012-11-30

   Great!

This plate of oily artery-clogging treat is a sinful (guilty) pleasure I had for lunch one afternoon. It was at this small unassuming stall at Far East Plaza and it was packed full house by the time I got there. You wouldn't think a dish like Char Kway Teow would be nice at this place because it has no pork lard in it, but wow I was pleasantly surprised! It was flavorful and a nice mixture of noodle and kway teow, topped off with little juicy cockles. Worth a try but not too often otherwise your cholesterol level would be through the roof!

Curry Chicken Noodle
Cries 2012-11-29

If you are a yellow noodles distributor and happen to be reading this, I have some potential clients for you.
Apparently the eating places at Far East Plaza fifth floor seems to be short of yellow noodles.

The stall beside this stall served me Prawn Noodles with Mee Kia. This stall served me Chicken Curry Noodles with Mee Kia. What a conspiracy!

One does NOT expect any other noodles when on does not SPECIFY ANY OTHER TYPE of noodles! (e.g if I want bee hoon I will say curry bee hoon or kway teow if I want curry kway teow and so on and so forth.)

I could not even begin to describe how this taste like. The curry is way below substandard; not spicy, not tangy, sour and it TOTALLY 200% does not match the Mee Kia. What was the cook even thinking.

The taste? Horrible. Almost inedible. Even the army combat rations taste better.(TRUST ME)
The content? In that plate of curry chicken noodles there are curry, chicken and noodles, or to be more specific, Mee Kia. Wow?
The quantity? What am I? A 10-year old kid? The plate is the same as the one used in my primary school.

Lunch
Smile 2012-10-18

When to have lunch here, since its one of the good and affordable places to eat in town. I would at least eat here twice a week or so. Its always pack with working people nevertheless our waiting time would only be 5 mins or so. Service is fantastic, friendly worker, fast service. I had the honeydew chicken rice! Of course it doesn't taste like honeydew. The chicken is glazed with honey and it tasted good! Would highly recommend!

Variety of Lunch Options
Smile 2012-10-09

over here, you find your own seats, several tables in the stall but fortunately not too squeezy. T

   Curry Chicken Set

   Frothy Teh Tarik

here are easily 50 types of different dishes on the menu, serving mainly individual portioned dishes for the lunch crowd goers in the offices nearby. Order the curry chicken set and a plate of fried wantan. 2 pieces of potato and 2 chicken wing chopped. i like the not too spicy version of the thick curry gravy. The fried wantan was served with a dark sticky sweet sauce instead of the usual mayonnaise. Interesting taste i must say but can get a tad too sweet if you drown the wantan with it.

Also ordered a Teh Tarik which came with lots of froth which brings a smile to the diner smile Overall a good eat. Did see the neighboring diners trying out their hotplate mee which looks delicious as well. Will give that a try next time. Total bill was $14.40 including the thai fried chicken rice my friend ordered which cost $5.30.

Puncak
Smile 2012-10-02

Me and my colleagues decided to have lunch at Puncak since it was nearby to our workplace. I would always ordered Honey Dew Chicken Rice for myself and one of my colleague, cause it was very delicious! The soup that came along wasn't up to my expectations, it was tasteless.

The chili for the chicken rice was fantastic! The cafe will always be full during lunch hour, but nevertheless we only waited less than 5 minutes for our seats. The pricing was affordable compared to other shop in town area it only cost me $3.50 for the chicken rice. I would recommend to try this dish!

Muslim hor fun
Smile 2012-01-10

   Hor fun

Met up with a Muslim ex-colleague for lunch and since I was at Orchard road, she suggested Puncak which was near to where I had my course. It was lunch time when we met so the place was really crowded. Orders was taken fast but when I called for the bill, it was difficult to get their attention. Quite slow to return my change also. I ordered the hor fun and it was nice. The gravy was thick enough and not chunky. I had tasted some hor fun that still has flour chunks in the gravy. A good portion of squid, prawns and fish cake were added. Not too bad for that price. I paid $3.50. Can't sit for too long to chat because of the crowd.
