hor fun
Just OK 2013-05-07

The dry hor fun at old town white coffee was the dish I had for breakfast one weekend. The noodles were quite tasty with the Ipoh style noodles being tossed with a savory dark sauce and some meat shreds and prawns. The only thing I disliked was that it was very oily. There was quite abit of visible oil in te sauce which was very off putting. The portion was also not very substantial but I guess that's ok for a breakfast portion.

Supper at OldTown
Smile 2013-02-12

 front

 front

Went to OldTown white coffee to meet some friends over dinner, as usual the they will not be on time. It ended as supper.

   set menu

While we were busy marking out our orders something caught my eyes. There's a brochure showing CNY 2013 reunion set. The set consists of 8 treasures bowl set and a float cost $9.80. We decided to order this since it's CNY afterall. But were told we needed to wait for 20 minutes since they needed time to prepare.

   starters

   rootbeermochachoc

We ordered a set of Kaya and butter toast with Mocha white chocolate to fill our hungry stomach. The drinks and toasts came first.

   8Tresures

   8treasures

The 8 treasures came in a cover bowl. When we opened up sure we were surprised of the contents inside. It consists of char siew, shredded eggs, mince meat, ham, sausage, corn, peas and fresh mushroom cooked together with coconut rice. When we removed the cover we could smell the fragrance of the rice with all the ingredients. The 8 treasures bowl set in my opinion is best eat when all the ingredients are mixed together instead of eating separate. If eaten individually the mince meat will tastes too salthy, all the other ingredients will taste too plain.

Coffee Lava
Smile 2012-07-19

This is quite a nice dessert from this coffee house. The vanilla ice cream is very smooth and the vanilla flavour is very fragrant and nice. The liquid coffee syrup added in it really added that extra fragrant to the ice cream, which is cooling and also refreshing as well. The price is reasonable and really suitable as an after meal dessert. One cup of it is never enough for me as well.

Lovely Laksa!
Just OK 2012-05-30

Had a family dinner here as we were craving for some awesome Singaporean dishes! Ordered a variety of dishes (eg. Laksa, Chicken Curry etc.) The Laksa was a little bit too oily but the taste was still good and tangy. The Chicken Curry was also a little bit too oily and a tad too spicy. The steamed kaya bun was really good though! The texture of the bread is really lovely and i really enjoyed that! The drinks here especially the ice lemon tea is really good!

Breakfast @ Old Town
Just OK 2012-03-04

Unless you order their local delights such as prawn mee, curry chicken, etc, you will find that there is no difference between Old Town and the rest of the kopitiams that sell toast and half boiled eggs. In fact that the breakfast set is slightly more expensive (especially when you add in the extra charges).

Nevertheless, it can be pretty relexing having breakfast at the Old Town at East Coast as it is situated near the sea. smile

We decided to chill out for some beverages after BBQ and happened to chance upon Old Town White Coffee at East Coast. As this is our first time in Old Town White Coffee, we decided to try it. I ordered the cold coffee drink. It tasted average as there was not much flavouring. The white coffee was rich and smooth, it was a good cup of coffee to me.It was fantastic, super rich in coffee taste, though it was rich it didn’t have bitter or sour tastes, the after taste linker for long. For such price, it worth every cent!

Old Town White Coffee
Just OK 2011-10-06

Had lunch at

with my friends. We ordered their fried bee hoon with chicken wing. It was not bad! The chilli was good. The bee hoon was also very nicely stir fried to bring out the taste of the sauce and it was not at all oily. The chicken wing however was the oily one. Could do better with less oil. Their ice coffee is abit too sweet for my liking.

Old Town Delights
Smile 2011-08-07

The name "Old Town" gave me an impression that it is a centralised location of local delights. Well, it really does live up to its name! The variety offered on its menu did gave me and my friends a little challenge in our selection of food. I chose the Nasi Lemak Special, Double Kaya Toast and an Iced Honey Lemon Juice.

Nasi Lemak Special - It was not the best nasi lemak I've eaten but is still ok. I love the chilli as it has lots of onion strands in it. Though I was a little disappointed with the servings of the side dishes at first, I was really full by the time I was done.

Double Kaya Toast - This was good. Though it would be excellent if the whole slab of butter was in between the toast! Hahaha! Death by Calories! lol

Iced Honey Lemon Juice - A refreshing drink, especially good if you do not want to be "filled" with milk drinks.

Looking at my friends' orders, I would think that Old Town could offer more, in terms of the ingredients in their food to match their pricing. Or else, the line between them and good hawker stalls would really draw thin, and soon, people will all realise this and perhaps, find alternates to this food place?

Nasi Lemak Special - $6.20
Double Kaya Toast - $2.20
Honey Lemon Juice - $3.50

steam bread
Smile 2011-06-25

The moment I went in the shop, I saw that there was number of steam baskets on some tables. The first thought that came to my mind was dim sum. I flipped through the menu but didn't see any dim sum, but that doesn't bother me. I ordered my toasted bread and Ice blended coffee as usual. After 5 minutes the staff came back to me and told me the power was down! So by then , I came to realise why I see so many steam baskets when I entered. Most of them had order the steam bread. So did I.

It seem to be a new item on the lists but if not because of the power failure. I wouldn't bother to try it . And fortunately , the steam bread turns out well . The bread was really soft and puffy. Butter melted and blended into the bread, which make it so fragrance. It is a good alternative for those cannot take heaty stuff.

The Search for the Perfect Kaya toast stops here
Just OK 2011-04-12

I have been to Old Town Coffee at ECP some 2-3 times. The food is great, I have no complaints. But the drinks could really do better.

Perhaps it's a personal taste issue, however I felt like their signature white coffee (HOT) and the stocking filtered Tea were both infused with way too much condensed milk that the taste had turned a little flat, and even a little sour. if you get what I mean.

I'm however a big fan of the kaya toast! Thin, crisp, and covered in just the right amount of aromatic Kaya and lovely melty sticks of butter. Their's was fantasic. Something about the kaya, perhaps the used of gula melaka, made it really fragrant. To be honest, I actually had popped by for coffee right after dinner at another establishment nearby. A full tummy was not a good enough deterrence for their lovely Kaya Toast.

The service was lacking however when we were chided by the store manager who said his priority were for dining guest as they were paying GST and said if we were only going to other take aways we needed to give up our seats.

   Lovely kaya toasT

His argument was fine, we totally understand but it was his attitude that was a total put off. he could have spoken to us nicely but he did not.

Lunching at Old Town
Smile 2010-12-31

It was my first lunch at Old Town White Coffee, a place I usually have my coffee breaks. I decided to go for the Supreme Nasi Lemak (costing about $9 - $10) which came with generous amount of ingredients but not the rice.

The dish was made up of peanuts, ikan bilis, curry chicken, rice, sambal sotong, crackers and two pieces of kueh lapis. It was very filling but the sambal sotong was on the very spicy side. So now there would be one more choice for my luncheon. tongue

The Nasi Lemak
Smile 2010-12-28

If you have not try the nasi lemak at Old Town outlet in east coast park, then you must definitely give it a try. The rice was nice and fragrant with strong coconut taste. The chicken wing was nicely deep fried and crispy. They gave half of the hard boiled egg, with generous amount of ikan bilis, peanuts and sambal chili. Not forgetting the crackers too.
Their service was good smile)

Dine there quite a few times , but always eating back the same dishes which i find it pretty nice . The toast that is served hot and crispy and the nasi lemak which is one of the recommeded dishes. one day I'm going to try their white coffee tho I'm not someone whom drink coffee smile But i think their service can be better , because got one time me and my friend was standing at the " please wait to be seated ' area and no one came to serve us when the place was NOT VERY CROWDED + no one at the counter. and when we're dining we saw the manager gossiping with the staff at one corner and when we call for them they react slow.
