Durian Swiss Roll Kaya Swiss Roll
Review (35)
Today, I decided to have the swiss rolls from the famous Rich & Good Cake Shop (裕佳西饼店)! Despite the sold-out all-time favourite (Kaya) flavour, people still joined the long queue. I bought 3 flavours - Mandarin Orange, Durian and Coffee. Each costed $8.One long roll can be cut into 6 thick pieces, just nice for sharing with friends or family!Mandarin Orange Flavour - The mandarin orange flavour was apparent throughout the swiss roll, the cake was fluffy and and the cream, with the zest from the flesh of the fruit was such a lovely combination! Here's a frontal shot of my favourite flavour, out of the 3 which I bought! Really love this! Durian - All time favourite for durian lovers, as the durian taste was strong and aromatic, but yet went well with the cream. Real bits of the durian also upped its overall value!Coffee flavour - hints of coffee filled the roll, but would taste nicer if it were to be slightly stronger.Overall, I did like the 3 flavours, but the mandarin orange flavour really worked the best for me! I loved its fragrance and the fluffiness of the cake. Definitely one of the best swiss rolls in Singapore, and I will be back to try the kaya (and buy another one of the Mandarin Orange Flavoured swiss roll!)Rich & Good Cake Shop (裕佳西饼店)Address: 24 Kandahar Street, Singapore 198887 Phone: 6294 3324 continue reading

I love it when my sister brings home these delicious Swiss rolls!! So small and yet so awesome!! I definitely would grow addicted to these if I could get them everyday!! The strawberry roll has strawberry jam in it, the jam itself is sweet but the butter cream gives it a slight tinge of buttery bland to it, offsetting the sweetness! I just can't get enough of that buttercream The kaya swiss roll is what the rich & good bakery is famous for... however, I found the kaya pretty bland.. it wasn't as sweet as the strawberry swiss roll.. I mean, even the kaya spread for my bread tastes more "kaya-ish" than this.. but it is a very soft swiss roll and I still enjoyed it.. But I would definitely get more strawberry roll next time!!Since, takeaways are a must at Rich & good bakery, they provide you with really long boxes to accomodate the swiss rolls and don't forget to visit them again!! I need more strawberry swiss rolls in my life! continue reading

I was in bugis area and my colleague brought me along to join the queue for the swiss roll cakes at Rich & Good cake shop as she claims that the cakes there are very good. The queue for the cakes took us around 10minutes. As it was my first time trying, I decided to go with the original kaya flavor which got them famous. The swiss roll cake costs $8. There are also other flavours like durian, mango etc. I kept the cake for next day by refrigerating it. The cake is really good – the kaya is rich and coconuty and the sponge cake is moist and soft. The layer of kaya filling is also generous so you can taste the richness of the kaya in every bite. Pictured here is one portion of the cake (we cut it into six portions). continue reading

This bakery is super famous for their swiss rolls and I didn't manage to get their Pandan Kaya flavour the previous visit as they were all sold out! Surprisingly, when I walk in today around mid afternoon, they just freshly baked many rolls of the kaya flavour! I was sooooo happy and immediately ordered! I also bought the chocolate roll for myself and durian flavour which I gave to my aunt! I couldn't wait and chilled it immediately once I got home. The log can be divided into about 10 pieces and the Pandan Kaya flavour is truly the best!! I love it the most, with the second being the chocolate or durian continue reading

Simply love the swiss rolls from Rich & Good, especially my favourite Kaya Swiss Roll! Have tried their swiss rolls on several occasions and each time they leave me craving for more. The Kaya Swiss Roll is soft and rich with fragrant kaya and very tasty and refreshing especially when eaten chilled immediately from the fridge. It is so good that I can finish the whole roll at one go! I can never get sick of it!The mango swiss roll wasnt as good, as I didnt quite like the mango bits in it, it tasted slightly sweet for me. The chocolate roll was surprisingly very yummy, very rich chocolate taste and yet not too sweet! The swiss rolls here may be slightly more expensive compared to those in other bakeries, but they are definitely worth the price! The place is a bit difficult to find, but there is no stopping me for the love of good food! Love the old school feel of the shop! The swiss rolls here are always selling like hotcakes and you get nothing if you are there too late! Next up on my to-try list is the orange and green tea flavour! continue reading
