<BR>Coated with some South American allure, dining at SALTA is inextricably linked to socialising, and the pleasure of life itself. Be it to catch up with friends over mate served in intricate pumpkin gondolas, or a well aged bottle of red Malbec wine in view of a romantic evening, it’s all charming at SALTA.

This restaurant is at the ground floor of icon. It looks like a high end restaurant but they have very affordable set lunch. The set lunch includes free flow bread with olive oil , a steak and a drink. Total cost for the beef steak is $15.00++ set lunch. The beef steak is very juicy and the potion is big. Comes with some potatoes and tomatoes. I ordered medium and it is done according to what I expected. Brown on the outside and pink juicy inside. Value for money set lunch.

It was my birthday and my boyfriend decided to bring me to Salta. It wasn't his first time dining there, he went there the previous time with his friend and was pleased with the quality of beef they provide, so he decided to bring me there to try it on my birthday. The restaurant is located at Gopeng St, in this mall that is quite ulu, like most of the shops are closed by night time i guess? It's pretty easy to find the way there! He wanted to order Entrana (Out-side skirt beef), but when we were ordering, the service crew warned us that this batch of beef is slightly more chewy and might not be what we'll be expecting, the soft, tender beef. It was pretty nice of them to tell us, than we order and be disappointed. So the crew suggested Ojo de Bife, which is ribeye. I seldom eat beef, as my family dont consume beef at home. So i decided to go for fish instead. Flipped through the menu, and the Cod fish dish- Bacalao a la parrilla, seems appealing! & so, I decided to give it a try! They also served us complimentary appetiser. Don't really quite know what is it but it's like some bread which came with Seasoned Olive Oil dip? It was pretty good!Bacalao a la parrilla($37.45 with GST)grilled skin-on cod fish with semi-dried tomato, basil & arugulaThis was heavenly good! The fish was so fresh! You can eat it flake by flake, if you get what i meant. If the fish wasnt fresh, you wouldnt be able to do so!& I love those beans that came with it and the semi-dried tomato give it a slight sour refreshing taste! The serving might seems small, but it was filling!Rating: 4/5Ojo de Bife 300g ($37.45 with GST)beef rib eyeIf you're a fan of beef, YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY ORDER THE BEEF HERE! OMG.As mentioned, i dont really eat beef, but this... THIS WAS PERFECT. No tough meat, it was so tender, tho some parts was slighly chewy, this was AMAZINGLY GREAT. 300g of GOODNESS. Anyway, the portion seems to look like more than 300g. We were enjoying every single slice of it. It also came with some roasted potatoes, tho i prefered those from King Louis! Nonetheless, Can i have another serving of beef, pretty please??? I will surely return here one day to try their Outskirt! The food here is quite pricey, but worth the price

For photos and full review: http://travelshootandshare.blogspot.sg/2013/04/good-steak-in-singapore.htmlSpent a Friday night at this restaurant in icon village. The service staff were honest and friendly. We wanted to order a vegetable side dish after our mains were served and the waitress asked us if we were okay with waiting for 20 minutes for it. Such honest service is difficult to come by in this industry as I've often ordered something without knowing about the long wait that awaits me. As customers, we didnt mind waiting. But more importantly, we feel a need to be told if we have to wait. So thumbs up to Salta's awesome service. For starters, we were given a free loaf of bread to be shared and this came with a bowl of pate. The pate was nicely done, without being too mushy or wet. For mains, we order two plates of beef rib eye ($37.45 after gst) and a plate of beef tenderloin ($40.66 after gst). There is no service charge so hooray to that. Each slab of meat is sold at minimum of 300g. For ladies, be prepared to share if you cant finish 300g worth of meat. I shared with my mum! My entire family enjoyed our steak as it was succulent yet not too tough or dry. As our steak only came with half a tomato and a few potatoes, we had the grilled vegetables as sides. The vegetables were grilled to perfection and they were crunchy. Nothing was overcooked or undercooked.I feel this is one of the more affordable QUALITY steaks in Singapore. I've tried other restaurants which are too heavily price (Eg. $100 ) and the quality not as great. If you're looking for a birthday celebration or a date night with a budget of about $50 per pax (without wine and desserts), this would be an ideal place. I would not recommend a visit to Salta under any circumstances. As compared to other steak restaurants in Singapore it is comparatively cheap. However, there is a very good reason for this - it fails to provide adequate service, food quality and ambiance. The most significant failure is in respect of service. The staff are either poorly trained or lack motivation or possibly both. The most salient example of this arose when we politely asked when ordering the parrilla mixed meat dish that the pork and sausages be placed on a separate plate to the rest of the meats, as one of our party does not eat pork. We were informed that this was not a problem - however, when our dish was plated (within our view on the open grill) we saw that all the meats had been placed on the same plate together. The chef then, remembering the explicit instruction, hastily placed the pork and all but one of the sausages on a separate plate and brought them to the table. The remaining sausage was lurking in the inelegantly plated pile of other meats and, when we pointed this out, the only solution that the waitress offered was to move this sausage to the other plate for us. One of our party was therefore unable to eat any part of the dish and was offered a steak in replacement. He pointed out that the reason for ordering the parrilla was to allow everyone at the table to try a variety of meats. The chef reluctantly agreed to provide a smaller plate of parrilla for the diner who did not eat pork. However, this took a further 25 minutes to arrive during which time one of our party was left with an empty plate in front of him. Despite the fact that our meal had been significantly disrupted by the error in the kitchen, the only recompense made on the bill was the removal of the charge for an order of sweet potato chips. The remainder of the service was also very poor - our wine and water were not topped up regularly enough, our plates were not cleared after our starters (indeed the waitress seemed surprised that this needed to be done at all) and the service was extremely slow. This was despite the fact that for the majority of the evening we were the only table in the restaurant. Second comes food quality - the meat quality here is no better (and possibly worse) than the stocks at your local supermarket. In addition, and perhaps in an attempt to disguise the poor quality, the meat is so heavily salted that it is almost impossible to distinguish the meat taste. The 'must try' garlic bread tastes like it has been taken out from the freezer. On a positive note, the empanadas were quite tasty, as was one of the dips which accompanied them. However, we did not choose Salta for its accompaniments menu; we came to get some well cooked high quality meat. Sadly, this seemed beyond this restaurant. The wine list is very limited and of poor quality. The few decent wines on the menu were not available so our only option was a very boring Malbec which was overpriced for its quality and vintage. My final substantive complaint is in relation to ambiance. The restaurant is located in a shopping mall and is open to the walkways through the mall. This makes the restaurant feel more like a fast food joint and not the classy restaurant it claims to be. The much lauded grill is tucked away in a corner and therefore does not provide the food theatre alluded to on the restaurant's website. In fact, the only advantage of the open grill was that we could see that our sweet potato chips waited there for 10 mins before being brought to our table. There is also a television screen in the middle of the restaurant showing footage of cows - highly unnecessary and distracting. Add to this the fact that the restaurant was almost empty on a Thursday night. All in all, the restaurant's location and decor far from welcoming and entirely lacking in ambiance. As I mentioned earlier, Salta is a cheaper way to have a steak/meat dinner out in Singapore. However, if you go here for dinner you will lose your evening, your appetite and possibly your temper. You have been warned - book here at your peril!
