Visit Lot One shopping mall at 2nd floor. Siam Kitchen. Saw their ads for curry fish head with Tom Yam. So order one set plus Mango salad and chicken satay. Waiting time was about 15mins as thought making in progress. LOL. When food finally arrive, was delighted for salad which is slightly sour. But when served with main disk, was disappointing from fish meat which is not fully clean can tasted some fishy smell. Tom Yam is not as spicy as thought. Possibly my last try for such fish head in Tom Yam. Satay is good with gravy and well decorated too. Avg per person about $15-20. Will come back to other stuff but surely not fish head. continue reading

I used to frequent Siam Kitchen as there was one nearby my previous staying place. The last time I came, I felt that the quality had somehow deteriorated. I wasn't sure if it was a one-time event, so I decided to give it a try again.Mix vegetable with tofu in signature sauce ($8.9)If you are a tofu lover, you would agree that egg tofu is usually flavorful and silky soft, even though after fried. For this dish, the vegetable was fine but the tofu turned out mushy and bland. Understandably, we all took a bite and couldn't help but shaking our heads.Hot and sour omelette curry with prawns ($10.9)Have you ever had a food that looked so different yet tasted so familiar? It took me a while to realise that this curry tasted like my favorite penang laksa. An interesting twist on this dish was the omelette, it was stuffed with acacia pennata. I think this was the only dish I like at the table.Stir-fried kai lan with salted fish ($8.9)A simple green for some fiber.BBQ stingray with Thai sambal ($14)The stingray didn't taste fresh, and the meat was kind of tough and chewy, as some would say 'logo'. We were expecting those BBQ stingray in Chinese Tze Char style but this was nothing like it. The sambal tasted just like plain chilli, we couldn't taste any belacan, shallot or other ingredients that usually attributed to a BBQ style sambal. Another round of shaking heads again. continue reading

was craving for thai food at lot1 and I decided to give siam kitchen a try. it was my first time there so i am not too sure what is nice and therefore i went for the safe choice -phad thai. indeed the food didnt disappoint me. the rice noodle was soft and sweet, blends when together with the seafood, peanut and chilli flakes. however, the portion is quite small for the price (sgd $10.90++).overall, i will be back in future to try out other ale carte dishes from this place. continue reading

We were undecided for dinner and since Siam Kitchen was having a 50% off promotion on their Thai Herb Chicken, we though why not give it a try! To be honest, we had never held much regard for franchise Thai cuisine as we thought them to be highly overpriced and lack authenticity. However, Siam Kitchen proved to be promising though there's definitely room for improvement. Thai Herb Chicken ($14.90++)This was simply awesome! The chicken was grilled to perfection with the fragrance of the herbs and spices fully infused into it. Coupled with their special Thai chili sauce, this was one divine Chicken you'll have to savour! The meat was tender and succulent and left a mild sweet aftertaste. Beef Noodles ($11.90++)Full-bodied, rich and wholesome – these were the words that came to mind when we tucked into the bowl of hot piping Beef Noodles. The soup broth was flavourful yet not overpowering. Topped with generous portions of tender chewy beef slices, this was the perfect main course on a cold wet evening. Tom Yam Soup ($7.90++)Unfortunately, the Tom Yam Soup was a far-cry from the two other dishes we ordered. As a staple order whenever we patronise any Thai restaurant, we were disappointed by the lack-luster flavouring and authenticity of their Tom Yam Soup. What made matters worse was the quality of ingredients used. Both the seafood and fish slices were not exactly fresh, resulting in a fishy taste that compromised the overall quality of the soup broth. Overall, it was still a pleasant dining experience with some unexpected good finds! We will be back to try out some of their other offerings like Grilled Seafood and Thai Green Curry! continue reading
