Sing Ho, one of the popular Hainanese Chicken Rice Stall with substantial number of years of reputation that you may think of in the list of famous chicken rice in Singapore. It was quite a late dinner after our event. The first impression was not that welcoming when we first step into the restaurant. Service was a letdown, no one had attended to us thus we sat down and read the menu. To worsen the case, servers only came to us after repeated waving.Home Made Barley is sealed and chilled in the fridge before serving us.Cost: S$1.20 Per CupDumpling Soup was rather oily, a layer of oil is visible on the top of its soup. Dumplings were not as good as expected. The minced meat was rather mushy and no sight of crunchy chestnuts found. Cost: S$6.00Plain Porridge VS RicePorridge for the lady and rice for the man since it was about 10pm for a dinner meal. Oh No, porridge was rather oily as well and as you scoop up the porridge, you get to see them clustered in a ball but the good thing about it was that they had added some cut fried fritters in it. Guys who are going for rice felt that the portion was rather miserable. However, the rice comes with a special fragrance and taste that none of us can guess what was added in it. It's kind of different from the usual chicken rice stall.Cost: S$1.00 / S$0.60Half Chicken with Sauce - These glossy, smooth and delectable dish play such a starring role on the table and we were all waiting for that particular moment to enjoy the plate of well-known Hainanese Chicken. Do not judge a book by its cover, mid way through our enjoyment, we decided to stop "touching" the chix as we noticed the translucent and bloody meat. Its was not thoroughly cook! We were utterly disappointed to order half a portion!Cost: S$12.50To sum up, our late dinner cost this much for 3 pax.For those who drives, parking by the side of road is the usual practice among the diners. And for payment, just walk up to their counter instead of waiting the bill to be "served". continue reading

The FoodI ordered the chicken rice set which comes with a plate of steamed white chicken, a plate of oyster sauce vegetables, a bowl of rice and a bowl of dumpling soup. The rice is fragrant and flavorful and goes very well with the tasty chilli sauce and tender and fresh steamed chicken. The dumpling soup also very delicious with two delightfully large and fresh prawn dumplings. What I liked most is the fantastic prawn dumpling soup which I think is the highlight of Sing Ho Hainanese chicken rice and will certainly keep customers coming back for more. The PriceReasonably priced at $6.50 per plateOverallI will definitely come back again and highly recommended to try this! continue reading

Spotted this Hainan Chicken Rice outlet along Middle Road called Sing Ho Hainan Chicken Rice. The menu cover looks like looks like some vintage Shaolin Martial Art book.As usual, I ordered 1 plate of 'white' chicken rice with organ (gizzard). With such a large plate, it make it seems as though the chicken rice is very little. The chicken rice was hard and dry. The chicken flavour was not fully infused into the rice. How was the chicken? Just average. But glad that quite a generous portion of chicken was given. However, only 4 pieces of gizzard was given. The chilli was average. But the ginger was surprisingly fragrant and cut finely. Despite all the positive reviews online. I beg to defer. Overall, it was disappointing. The chicken was average while the rice was disappointing. In any chicken rice stall, there are 3 important factors. 1) The chicken. 2) The rice. 3) Chilli. So far none met my criteria for this stall. Detailed review: http://foodiefc.blogspot.sg/2011/09/sing-ho-hainan-chicken-rice-middle-road.html continue reading

Read from travel book, chicken rice is locally famous in SG! Since I arrived here, I always wanna give a try! Base on my limited dining experience here, very difficult to find an ideal one... I found this place all by random!Very traditional interior, yet very cozy We had ordered two sets meal of "Hainan Chicken Rice" (SG$6.8 each) and two lime juices (SG$1.2 each)Indeed the portion isn't big but just enough. Very traditional taste and I simply like it To spend a casual lunch here with a view of the busy Selegie road, why not ? continue reading

We came for a quick dinner before going for a movie. We ordered 1/4 of white chicken and 1/4 of roasted chicken with 2 plates of rice. I tried the white and the roasted chicken and i concluded that the white chicken has got a better tender than the roasted one. It tasted smoother and juicier, it goes better with the chilli and garlic paste too. Certain part of the roasted chicken was a bit dry and the texture of the meat compromised too. The rice tasted just normal. continue reading
