I was in Sentosa with my friends when it poured heavily and so whilst looking for a place to have brunch and also seek shelter from the rain.So we saw Slappy Cakes and so we decided to give it a try. My friend likes to eat healthy so we got 2 kinds of batter, one is buttermilk, and the other is wholegrain. It comes in this squeeze-bottle for easy decoration on the hot plate. We also got some toppings, namely, lavender honey, crispy bacon and toasted almonds.Pancakes ready to be made! The butter and normal maple syrup comes automatically with every order of the pancake batter. My friends and I attempting to make some legible shapes from the ingredients we had. They also served other ala carte items such as sandwiches which you can order. Overall it was a very filling meal even though we only ordered 2 batters.

Slappy Cakes is a restaurant better known for their DIY pancake. Here, the creativity is all yours. Basically, there is a cooking pan in every table. You can choose your preferred flavor for your batter (flavors available are whole grain, buttermilk, zucchini, chocolate, and peanut butter). The batter comes in a squeezeable plastic bottle, to make it easier to pour and cook the pancake. You can also add some toppings for your pancake, such as fruit jam, fresh fruits, and chocolate.Actually we wanted to have chocolate and buttermilk batter, but the buttermilk one was out of stock, so we change the buttermilk to peanut butter. Each bottle of batter costs $8, and we added mango jam and hazelnut spread for toppings. Each topping costs $1.50 if I'm not wrong.Let the fun begins! We started from basic shapes first......to SpongeBob face! Making the initial of our nameWe kept making random shapes and finally we made this huge pancake to share from the leftover batter.I think it was a nice experience making my own pancake. The pancake was not bad though, it was fluffy, I could taste the chocolate and peanut butter in it. Price is quite reasonable too, we spent $20 (excluding drink & GST), and equally shared the total among 4 people. The DIY pancake may not as fulfilling as single fixed menu (because you have to share the batter), but you pay for the experience.

This American born franchise is known for it varied pancake flavours, and letting diners create and cook their own pancakes, bringing a fun and playful element to the dining experience.Ambience at Slappy Cakes is modern casual, with colours of white, black, wood and yellow complementing each other. The floor space is thoughtfully laid out, offering a good view of the semi open kitchen. Quirky pictures are grouped along the wall, drawing the eye to its focal points.Service at Slappy Cakes is decent. Staff are friendly, but my experience was slightly marred when they forgot an order. However, they are able to offer advice on how to cook the pancakes, which is essential seeing as diners will have to eat their own creations.Slappy Cakes offers 5 different flavour pancake batters, and up to 32 varieties of toppings, both sweet and savoury. And because you get to cook your own designs, I find it incredibly fun to dine here. Prices are decent, with each batter costing SGD $8.50, served in a 230 milliliter bottle. This makes approximately 6 mid-sized round pancakes. Slappy Cakes also offers an all-day brunch menu. The Peanut Butter Batter has a slightly fragrant peanut aroma, and a slight nutty taste.Loved the Mushroom Scramble, which features juicy mushrooms cooked into scrambled eggs, infusing it with an earthy aroma. Complements with perfectly roasted potatoes and toasted bread, though I think it's slightly too much starch for a dish.
