When passing by bukit batok area, always thought of want to have an experience on thismodern casual american dining but couldn't catch a good to enjoy. Finally the day was come and it was weekends. So, thanks godness i had gotten a chance hop on into their Popular Brunch Weekends Menu.  The brunch menu is only available on Saturday, Sunday, and Public Holidays from 9am - 3.45pm. This post is baselly based on Fire Station.Full blog review : http://cennds.blogspot.sg/2014/05/food-on-weekends.htmlBig Brekkie with Sunny Side Up EggSimple brunch with a toasted thick bread and overall is satisfiedBut, the some of the mushroom was bitter which i think was due to over cooked Crab Cake BennyThe mouth - watering and tasty crab cake is highly recommended to try although the bacon is quite salty but the crab cake made me to enjoy more on the brunch continue reading

Spruce at Bukit Timah has taken over the old Fire Station, converting the space into a 3000 sqft dining area which is able to accommodate up to 150 people in indoors. The old building has been built way back in 1956 and each time as I pass by, my attention will all be drawn on those big giant red doors which were retained.Concept of Spruce was laid-back, serving unpretentious modern American Cuisine.Beside serving signature dishes and the occasional wine dinners, they also feature a bakery with freshly baked pastries and breads which was made in-house daily.Location is perfect with just a stone throw away from Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. However due to its location, it might be a tad inaccessible if you are taking public transport. For those who are driving, do make sure that if you do not miss the turn into the carpark or you have to make a long way through before making a U-Turn.To keep the atmosphere lively, there are live bands available at some of the nights adding joys to chill outs sessions for the diners.Chef Signature, surprisingly comes with tender braised beef cheek stacked under a bed of Polenta accompanied by french beans and carrots. One of its chef recommended mains to be ordered, Spruce Burger. Buns was slightly toasted and with some crisp at the circumferences topped iwth both white and black sesame, interesting!Beef patty was juicy and comes with homemade pickles, cheddar cheese with herbed flavoured thick cut fries by the side. Ambience is good for relaxing and unwind ourselves after a day of work, not to mention that the hospitality of the servers were great too. On top of that, this restaurant is kids friendly thus suitable for family gathering and meals. For more reviews, visit www.umakemehungry.com continue reading

I am big fan of dessert but I could say only once in a while then I will send fifteen dollars for just a plate of dessert. But this Baked ginger date pudding is definitely worth fifteen dollars and is good enough to fill my tummy after having one portion of it. THe pudding is moist and soft, which is not too sweet and full of the fresh ginger fragrant in it. The vanilla ice cream blend in very well with the pudding and the chocolate sauce make it more sinful but really delicious. THe restaurant staffs are friendly and serving is fast as well. Dining environment is cooling and quiet. continue reading

Met up with friends and we decided to check out Spruce. I loved how the old Firestation now looks like a swanky makan joint with their ceiling to floor glass walls. Some reviews shared that their service is not that great and in a way, that's kinda true. Ice water was only served when requested but after that, the servers were attentive enough to clear our plates and refill our water often. Between the few of us, we ordered:1) Clam Chowder - good amount of ingredients and the clams were juicy and big. Good!2) Steak Frites - a fairly thick slab of beef that is a pretty good cut too! Seared nicely outside and still juicy and tasty! Absolutely best!3) Spruce Burger - for $18, it's a very good serving size. The meat patty is very tender and accompanied with bacon, relish, onion, lettuce and somehow fragrant bun, total package of Yumz. Hubby loved loved loved this. 4) Salmon Steak - my friend had this and she said its nicely done to get a crispy exterior with a moist interior. Nice she said. The steak frites was costly at $36 but very nice lah. Definitely a place to pull my heart strings for a return trip. continue reading

We all loves the food at the Spruce. Though this restaurant may not known as Fine Dining place, but it definitely has the quality of the Fine Dining at lower price.Spruce DipsWe all loves the Spruce Dips. It has variety of dips such as Guacamoles, hummus, tuna conserva, & tomato salsa. Recommended.Velvet Cupcake. Foie Gras.Absolutely one of the rare and good foie gras I have eaten. The cooking is just nice, not over cooking, not too dry. It retains all the juices in it. This has the quality of a fine dining in expensive restaurant.Tuna Burger. It taste good. Usually I wont order a burger and I always think it is over price. If you are a fan of a burger, give it a try.Whole Roasted Snapper. The fish is really fresh. And no bad oil taste especially fried food. Should try.Overall food experience, I would give a 4.5 stars. continue reading
