If one would like to be surrounded by vintage furniture, great music and a quiet respite, while sipping a cup of hot coffee or eating a nice dessert, Restore Cafe is the perfect spot to hit.Yes, this charming little place consists of lovingly restored quality vintage furniture, transforming this place into a cosy, backdated little place for furniture lovers and cafe hoppers alike.I ordered something to occupy myself with first, while waiting for a close friend, *Nancy, to get here (like, an hour later??) This was the Dark Chocolate Tart (SGD$6.80) - with a crispy biscuit base that crumbled in the mouth deliciously. The ganache, though not moist enough - had a very rich dark chocolate flavor, a sticky sweetness which the palate warmed up to immediately. Best of all was that it was not too sweet, so it was really enjoyable to eat.*Nancy finally got here, so we ordered the mains. I wasn't really hungry by then, but just ordered a sandwich to try it out, since it was stated to be "freshly-made". Curiosity got the better of me, and I chose the Who Moo Sandwich (SGD$12.90) - out of three mere choices. It consisted of hummus (mashed chickpeas), fresh rocket, feta cheese, tomatoes, olives, cucumber slices - drizzled with olive oil and served with corn chips. The ingredients seemed simple enough, and the hummus paste did not look appetizing, but after our first bites, *Nancy and I both had to admit the taste was good. The distinctive chickpea taste was not lost in its paste-like form, and went really well with the crispy toast, chips and even leaves. For more detailed information and photos, please feel free to visit:http://thearcticstar.blogspot.sg/2014/09/lunch-at-restore-cafe-by-restore-living.html continue reading

For more details, please visit http://foodesteem.blogspot.com/2014/05/restore-living.htmlThey only have 3 desserts on rack, which are Dark Chocolate Tart ($6.80), Creme Caramel ($6.80), and Lemon Bundt Cake ($5.80) topped with snow glaze and served with freshly whipped cream and strawberry. They have mains too, but we gave that a miss since we are here for desserts only!Lemon Bundt Cake! Looks so-so, but taste of lemon is strong, yet no worries about being sour or whatsoever.Caramel Banana ($9.80) served with sliced bananas, homemade salted caramel, topped with icing sugar and freshly whipped cream. Waffle is crispy from the outer, and soft to the inner. Not forgetting the salted caramel, it will definitely make your eyes go "woah" with surprise!Another waffle! Berry Good ($9.80) served with sliced strawberries and blueberries, topped with icing sugar and freshly whipped cream. This on the other hand, is inferior.A place to sit back reading some magazines, while enjoying some drinks and pastries.Noise level can be a little high due to its tight spaces, but if you come at the correct time, the cozyness will set you resting your butt there and typing away on your keyboard! For more details, please visit http://foodesteem.blogspot.com/2014/05/restore-living.html continue reading

Running some bridal shop errands along Tanjong Pagar, after a long morning I decided to reward myself with a sweet treat. I ordered A Waffle with Banana and Salted Caramel.I opted for a topping of Vanilla Ice Cream which was smooth and velvety to pair off with my waffle which was beautifully press-toasted golden brown. It was crispy and had a buttery taste with a contrasting fluffy texture on the inside. Freshly sliced bananas placed tactfully around the waffles topped with the melting vanilla ice cream and sweet & salty caramel sauce and all these on top of a exquisite looking floral plate makes the dessert look really amazing like it was out of a dessert magazine centre fold! continue reading

Tried the cream cheese bagel. It was the most rock-hard bagel I have ever tasted. Gives the jaw a very good workout. Can't remember the price... think it's around S$6 for just the plain bagel & a small bowl of cream cheese that you spread the bagel with, plus S$4 for a drink. Not value for money esp since there are cheaper good alternatives nearby that don't break your jaw. Needless to say, I never go back there again. continue reading
