http://phuachiuyen.wordpress.com/2012/08/26/breeks-cafe-northpoint/I ordered the $9.80++ walnut chocolate fondue set.Typical fondue and fruits, very common but still it’s a nice mixture and presentation though I thought it’s too pricey for such simple desserts. The marshmellows were very soft and fluffy though. It would be better if the chocolate fondue was slightly hotter. Not too thick a chocolate taste so I was a little disappointed. Most importantly, if everywhere else is crowded, try Breeks Cafe for I believe there should be some seats left.Despite the empty cafe, our walnut fondue took more than 20 minutes to reach us.I think Breeks Cafe is an okay choice if you don’t mind the price.MEHHHHH… that’s just my opinion. The choice is yours. continue reading

The restaurant is next to its sister restaurant Seoul Garden. Over the years it seems to grow smaller in area, while the sister restaurant grows bigger. The tables are quite now packed to each other. This month the restaurant is having a festive set promotion which costs from $25.90++ and comes with soup of the day and salted caramel brownie with ice cream.I order the Norwegian Salmon Fillet & Prawn Escabeche with Green Salad in Coriander Butter Set ($26.90++). The serving is quite big. Looks quite colourful with the various vegetables. The salmon tastes a bit dry. The sauce is a bit too little. The prawn is quite juicy. It is served with Mushroom Soup. It tastes like canned soup but comes with quite an amount of sliced mushroom. There is the salted caramel brownie with ice cream for dessert. The brownie is just nice, moist and not too chocolaty. Would prefer it warmer to balance with the cold ice cream. Also have Smoked Salmon Ciabatta ($10.90++), filled with thick slices of smoked salmon, boiled egg, tomato and lettuce. The bread is quite soft, served with quite an amount of salad. Also orders a serving of House Salad ($6.50++) which is same as the salad found in both the salmon dishes. Mixed greens, served with herbs dressing. Quite unique dressing.Overall the food is not bad, but service has much to improve on. Has quite a hard time of catching the staffs' attention. But they are quick in clearing tables. Therefore service is a bit uneven. Also waited quite long for the bill. continue reading

I like to eat Fish. On my visit to Breeks, I ordered Fish and Chip as my dinner. It took around 20 minutes to arrive, Crispy Battery Fish with Coleslaw Dressing by the side, it tasted fresh. The fish was light, not doughy as what I thought. Cut fries were not greasy, golden appearance made them more attractive. Tartar sauce actually wasn’t enough for me, Chilli sauce was readily put on each table. It was $12.90 per plate. continue reading

1-1 set lunchWent to Breeks cafe for the first try with friend before catching up movie because of their 1-1 set lunch promotion. Only four main courses are included for the promotion which is creole chicken ($14+), grilled salmon ($17+), cajun chicken chop ($17+) and ribeye steak ($24+). Ofcourse, the more expensive one will be counted, and it only apply on weekdays 11.30am-5pm.We were told by the waitress about the top ups too, which is the first choice, selected drink at $2; second choice, soup of the day and selected drinks $3; third, soup of the day, selected drinks and dessert at $5. drinks and soupWe both have chosen the iced passionfruit tea which is refreshing and nice with the passionfruit seed in it. The soup of the day are the crab chowder and mushroom soup and we both chose each one. Mushroom soup is okay, creamy type, but i would prefer hotter soup served. The crab chowder has the fishy taste most properly because of the crab which is not fresh, and they added something that i cant taste tohide away the taste. creole chicken with orange marmaladeThe chicken leg was huge, and the overall presentation is nice. The chicken is tender but a bit bland. The orange marmalade sauce couldn't fuse into the chicken, it's just very lightly tasted. For the sides, the mashed potato is too compact and dry for my liking and the roasted beans have the parsley flavour which i think not matching.grilled salmonthis main course is served in the hot grilled plate, and the portion is large too. The salmon is thick, covered with the herbs and spices on top but still tasteless. Squeeze the lemon juice to it and it will be better. The tomato salsa sauce is given, which is more better to eat with the salmon. The waffle potato is great, hot and crispy and fluffy!dessert - Brownie & ice creamThe brownie is hotly served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream besides and dashes of chocolate sauce. The brownie is very rich in dark chocolate taste, and the crust even has some crushy texture., plus the crunchy walnut inside the cake, and the chilling and creamy ice cream, this combination is indeed the best dessert. continue reading

I was filling really hungry after a long day at work. I headed to breeks with a couple of my colleagues for dinner. I flipped through the menu and settled for the pasta with Bolognese sauce. I cannot really resist Bolognese sauce, I like how sour and sweet it is. The spaghetti was cooked perfectly. The portion was just right, not too little. The Bolognese sauce was indeed the highlight of the dish. it went really well with the spaghetti and the portion of the sauce is indeed very generous. continue reading
