We had dinner at this new place in 111 Somerset after hearing relatively good reviews. The dishes we had:1) Anti PastoThe parma ham & rockmelon combination was refreshing and complement well with each other =) The servings is good for 3-4 ppl2) Grilled Salmon Spinach Salad pizzaThe crust is thin and cripsy, with a good spread of fresh smoked salmon and cheese. Overall the dish is light and appetising =) 3) Roasted chicken italianniesThis is one of the recommended on the menu and was indeed proven to be a good choice. The chicken is succulent and heavy in flavor. It is served with generous sides of potato wedges and onion slices that are sweet and crisp to taste =)4) Seafood LinguineThe seafood is generous and fresh, complementing the clam broth for the pasta, making it really sweet and flavourful. The clam broth is clear type, hence you will not het the "ger lat" feeling after a while as compared to creamybase pastas.5) TiramisuThe Tiramisu was decent, however overall nothing surprising or special. Serving was big enough for 2-4 to share after a meal.6) Chocolate ObsessionThis is good for one who loves mars bar! taste so much like it with the thick chocolate and crispy nutty base. continue reading

I visited this cosy italian restaurant for the 3rd time as my friend love this place totally! I had a bad experience during my 2nd visit as the spagetti i ordered just didnt work for my palate. Well, this time round, i am pleased with the food! The restaurant is having a 2 course Xmas set and i chose 'pumpkin salad' for the appetizer and Pork Chop with Garlic and Sage (Breaded pork chop with garlic and sage, pan fried and served with aromatic roasted potatoes) for main. The sauce is very NICE! Tasted sweet and complements well with the pork.My friend wanted the 'broth' for appetizer but it was not avail., hence she ordered the same as me. She ordered the 'steak' (Filet Mignon in Green Pepper Sauce & Gorgonzolla ; 7-oz. Certified Angus Beef tenderloin steak served in a spicy green pepper sauce and topped with gorgonzola cheese) The beef tasted a lil salty and weird for me. For desserts, we were quite greedy and ordered 3 - Tiramisu, Chocolate Obsession, Creme Brulee. We were actually v excited for the Chocolate Obsession but we felt that the nuts spoilt the cake! We prefer a smooth texture to the cake. The tiramisu & creme brulee tasted pleasing to all of us. We loved them! *slurps* We all shared a pitcher of Sangria and it was a pleasant dining night for a great catching ups for me and my girl friends. continue reading

Tried the tantalising new Filet Mignon in Green Pepper Sauce & Gorgonzola, a house special. The A 7-oz. Certified Angus Beef tenderloin steak served in a spicy green pepper sauce and topped with gorgonzola cheese is a darling. Matched this main with the refreshing Red Grape Shake. Loved it! This place is so good for chilling out. Ended the meal with the light tiramisu. Weren't too hungry so The BF and I shared all 3 dishes. We had a great time here. continue reading

The exact location of Italiannies is well hidden in the sense that you would have to walk right to the end( walked past Imperial Treasure) and the restaurant is pretty small.Italiannies offers a ‘Never Ending Lunch” which is only available from Mon- Fri (11.30-2.30pm) . It is a semi buffet lunch with never ending pastas, pizzas, desserts, main course + drinks priced at only $15.90nett. It think this is really worth the money and you get to sample all their dishes. However, I doubt I would have the opportunity to drop by during weekdays thus I settled with their ala-carte. They offer 2 types of bread- Focaccia and Tuscan which is baked freshly inhouse. They do sell the bread in loaves. Do get them if you enjoy it. I opted for the Focaccia as I prefer them to plain ciabatta. The bread is slightly on the dry side and the flavour of herbs is not that strong. Caesar Salad with toasted focaccia croutons( $4.90++)The portion for the salad is pretty generous. Romaine lettuce with their home made focaccia croutons and sprinkled with lots of parmesan cheese. I was not an avid fan of cheese thus I felt that there were too much cheese, making the salad a little heavy. Parmesan Crusted Fish ($17.90++)”Oven-baked Fish fillet, served over fried zucchini and red onion rings with white capers sauce”.The dory fish is crumbed with parmesan and herbs, baked till golden brown. The parmesan crust wasn’t too salty but I thought it was rather bland. The fish itself is also bland (tasteless) , perhaps prior pre-seasoning would salvage .Those who enjoy fried onion rings would be overjoyed. The fried zucchini and red onion rings served along with the fish is addictive , crispy and not too oily. However, for health reasons, best to enjoy in small serving.Verdict: They are pretty generous with the food portion which I guess it well worth every penny you paid for. The pizzas are pretty popular here and enjoy the freshly baked pizzas from the oven. I was very impressed with the service here. The staff were very prompt, efficient and courteous. I think Singapore needs more such people in the service and F& B industry! continue reading
