Sometimes, if St Marc wants you there, it will grant you a seat. If you are welcome, it had be buzzing with lots of people without any seats to spare! Hahahahah!Luckily for me, on my second visit, I found a few empty seats and so i went and ordered dessert! I like strawberry and my friend liked chocolate so we got the best of both worlds with this dessert! It looks very pretty, decorated and all but actually tastes quite meh.. The strawberries were of the frozen variety, not the fresh kind. So i didn't quite like it. Anyway there is a surprise at the bottom of the dessert, bits of chocolate cake (thats my guess anyway ) which is pretty damn awesome. Anyway if you don't want something too cloying or overwhelmingly sweet and yet still has a strong chocolate taste, this is the dessert for you! continue reading

Have been wanting to try this Japanese cafe , st Marc cafe at Vivocity because they have green tea desserts in there. And I ordered green tea Mt fuji, green tea crossaint and a sweet bread. They were nice when I requested to have the crossaint heated up because it seems like it was on the shelf for quite some time? Haha. The Mt Fuji ice dessert was average because the portion didn't really justified for its price and i find the crossaint a little disappointing as I thought it would taste nicer.. Haha! But the environment and ample space make up for it! 😊 continue reading

Here we go - another cafe review! Recently I have been checking out quite a bit of food and coffee places, and really enjoying that!Today I'm at St. Marc Cafe, in Harbourfront. Don't let the name of this cafe fool you, it's totally Japanese! Here, they specialise in their desserts and pastries, as well as their green tea latte, which is a popular favourite here.Desserts galore! If you do come here, I suggest the Chocolate Chococro ($2.40 each), which is their signature item! Chococro is made of best blend of Ghana Beans and finest Ecuador beans, wrapped with crispy rich buttery flavor croissant dough. They also have the Green Tea and the Strawberry version, and I have to say that although I'm not a chocolate lover, but it tastes the best out of all three flavours, to me. Check out the Chicken Egg Salsa ($3.30)! It reminds me of S Korea's egg bread. haha. They also have things like lunch sets to cater to the working crowd!Their cups have 3 sizes (hot drinks) - I like the medium sized cup as that's really just the right amount. Especially for the green tea latte, because the green tea taste is quite strong and thick, you may not want to order the largest cup. They will issue you a buzzer so you don't have to stand around the counter to wait for your order. Once ready, the buzzer will buzz (duh.) and just head to the counter to collect your food/drinks.I ordered the Little Fuji because the Chococro is totally sold out (didn't have time to wait for the freshly baked ones) But I loved the Little Fuji! The crispy pastry is topped by what looks like a mini snow mountain of vanilla ice-cream on it and drizzled with caramel sauce! It was very good.I also ordered the Affogato ($5.60) and its creamy consistency was pretty good! It also came with a chocolate waffer stick Pouring in the espresso!Complete, stir well to drink~St. Marc CafeLocation: 1 HarbourFront Walk #01-108-110 Vivocity, Singapore 098585Website: LinkMy Ratings (the higher the score, the better it is!)Food: 4 / 5Ambience: 3.5 / 5 Bang for your buck (Value): 4 / 5Service: 3.2 / 5 continue reading

The dessert here are just simply awesome! I always order Little Fuji and Matcha Latte, or sometimes with Choco Cro. These are the must try here! Matcha Latte has a strong matcha taste so tastes really well for non-coffee lovers like me. Little Fuji is perfect for sharing with another person. The crust is well baked and crunchy topped with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. Tried the chocolate and banana fuji as well but I think the Original little fuji tastes much better due to the sweet caramel sauce scattered over the croissant. continue reading

Following our meal at The Chop House, we are looking for something to satisfy our sweet tooth. Quick check on desserts location around Vivocity, suggested St. Marc Cafe to be on the top of the list.Apparently St. Marc Cafe originated from Japan with more than 300 outlets in Japan. This Japanese with French influence café promise to 'provide good quality service, vibrant atmosphere, freshly brewed coffee and other varieties of drinks, and freshly-baked breads for a reasonable price.' Their most popular product is Chococro.Chococro is made from the best blend of Ghana and Ecuador Chocolate beans, wrapped with crispy rich buttery flavour Croissant dough. Unfortunately, Chococro - $2.40 (& White Chococro - $2.60) do not send my tongue wagging. The dough is not flaky, but it seems to be a little stale, the chocolate is just average, although it has good balance and not overly sweet. Maybe it was near closing time when we get there, or you can blame it on the recent rise of artisan bakery in Singapore, that expose us to better croissant base products compare to St Marc. (Chococros rating 6/10)The coffee are produced from a fully automated machine. The latte ($4.50) is average, diluted with very airy frothed milk. The latte that I tasted in 7-11 in Taiwan is better than this (rating 6/10). St Marc hot chocolate ($6) fare better than their latte, it has a nice blend and a good balance of sweetness and creaminess. (rating 7/10).However, what is worth your stomach space here. Little Fuji ($6.30). This combination of soft serve vanilla ice cream with brown butter Danish is just excellent. The Danish is very soft and flaky, while the soft serve ice cream has a perfect sweetness, texture and flavour. Beautiful. (Rating 8.5/10)For something with green tea flavour and chewy, Miyako ($8.20) is a good option. Green Tea Ice cream, with Soft serve vanilla ice cream, mochi and a dollop of red bean. It is refreshing and it has most of the traditional Japanese desserts ingredients and most of the texture are well represented here. Yum Yum! (Rating 8/10)The other positive factor about St Marc is their vibrant atmosphere. From far away, the cafe seems to invite you to come in and spend some time in the cafe. As promise, St Marc does provide a friendly and good service to a certain extend, most of the stuff is basically self service.Overall, St Marc Cafe really deliver on its promise of good service and vibrant atmosphere. Their Chococro is not to my liking, however there are plenty of other breads and desserts that are worth coming back for. So if you are at Vivocity or Marina Square, give this place a try.
