Wanted a simple quick cheesecake fix after a filling dinner somewhere else at JCube! Happened to pass by Starbucks and this place is always good for simple guilty pleasures! Ordered the Oreo Cheesecake ($6) with nice balance of cream cheese and Oreo toppings. It's not dry at all and was a satisfying dessert! Wishing that there's a Starbucks outlet near my place. continue reading

The weather is so hot and dry and the throat gets really itchy at times. So it is best to head over to Starbucks, order their thirst quenching beverage and chill there. I ordered their green tea cream with whipped cream. ice is blended to make the drink. it was blended so finely until you will not taste any coarseness. the whipped cream gave the drink a creamier taste. the green tea flavour is just so good. continue reading

Meanwhile redeeming my mini card, I bought a New York Cheesecake takeaway. I'm not a cheese person by the way. But after I tried Cookie Crumble Cheesecake, I decided to try a no frill cheesecake to determine if I can really accept cheese into my life.First of all, the cheesecake is indeed very cheesy and I actually took just my very first small bite. It is very soft and melts in you mouth with every bite. But I took 2 bites and that's it. It is too cheesy for me, unlike Cooke Crumble Cheesecake which has Oreo crumbles on the outer and inner layer. I think though with the cheesecake taste overwhelmed the oreo crumbles but still bearable than a no frill cheesecake. I still unable to accept cheese but I can't deny that Cookie Crumble Cheesecake is more for me than New York Cheesecake. Good try for me. And a little pricey at $6+. continue reading

People visit Starbucks not just for their fab coffees and frapuccinos, but to chill out, use the free wifi or charge their HP batteries. Now there is another reason - tuck into the bistro style fare which makes for a satisfying meal. The Starbucks outlet at J Cube has the familiar cheerful buzz that we have come to associate with Starbucks cafes. The deep dish beef pie ($5.80) is an excellent choice for a quick meal - a short crust paatry bowl filled with hearty tangy minced beef bolognese filling topped by a layer of cheese gratin. If you like spaghetti bolognese but don't fancy too much carbohydrates in the pasta, the beef pie from Starbucks is a worthy alternative. The Barista Salad ($7.80) is chockful of wholesome goodness - fresh asparagus spears, premium mix of imported salad leaves, broccoli florets, halved cherry tomatoes, thin slices of crunchy red skinned baby radish, etc - with slices of roast chicken breast and their unique coffee-tinted balsamic dressing. The quality and freshness of the ingredients in the Barista's Salad gives salad specialists like Sumo Salad a good run for the money. The Roast Chicken Wrap ($10.50) may seem expensive but it is a huge roll crammed tightly with roast chicken chunks, button mushrooms, assorted bell peppers and sliced cherry tomatoes all bound together by melted mozarrella cheese. It comes with a thick & creamy garlic mushroom sauce. The wrap is double the size of the savoury crepes served at Out of the Pan Restaurant at Raffles City. Starbucks wrap is more than sufficient as a meal for two adults with small appetites, leaving hardly any room even for a tall-sized iced americano. The Meat Lovers Wrap ($10.50) is another humongous roll packed tightly with generous slices of premium roast beef, honey baked ham, chicken, cheese and - get this - half a hard boiled egg! Wonder how they manage to cram so much staff into the wrap which was tinted a pale green colour with pureed spinach juice. The smokey tangy BBQ dip served on the side complements the meaty one dish meal perfectly. Two thumbs up. continue reading
