A birthday lunch!
Smile 2012-11-06

I went there quite a long time ago for a birthday lunch of one of my friends. Our group was about 8 people who all love Thai cuisine. We ordered a wide range of dishes.... fried soft-shell crabs, creamy tom yam noodles, tom yam soup, pineapple fried rice, seafood fried rice, papaya salad ... and so on. As we were having a late lunch around 2:30pm, the restaurant was occupied merely by our group. Serving was quite fast. I would recommend clear tom yam soup from the shop which reminds me every time when I'm craving for tom yam soup. The delicacy of the soup was quite perfect though a bit spicy for those who cannot take spicy food. The cost for our group is about $120++ which seems affordable. The environment is quite cozy and nice to hang out for a group chat or discussion.

Seafood tom yum (clear)

Sticky Rice is a Thai bistro, serving fairly traditional interpretations of popular Thai dishes. For seafood tom yum, you can choose between red and clear soup. We ordered the clear tom yum, it tastes sour, and slightly hot. I reckon it is better than the one you can get in Thai Express. The environment is a bit dim, but I guess it supposed to have a cosy effect. It is more cafe style than fine dining.

Sticky Rice deal @ Clementi Mall
Just OK 2012-01-15 (Related Review)

A small setting at the Clementi Mall basement selling Thai food.

Pineapple Fried Rice @$8.90
Nice presentation of the pineapple fried rice topped with some cashew nuts, prawn, slices of cucumber & tomato, meat floss and one whole bunch of spring onion.
Taste quite good, just find it a bit dry and doesn't have the succulent and moist pineapple. Nothing to complain since its suppose to be Pineapple FRIED rice and not Pineapple rice

Lemongrass drink
Good that we have the drink to accompany the fried rice. Drink was quite normal and nothing special.

Saw a number of recommendation on their mango sticky rice dessert and soup, might be back to try it.

Sticky Rice deal @ Clementi Mall
Just OK 2012-01-15

We bought a deal from the website which we only need to pay $4.90 for a Pineapple Fried Rice and Ice Lemongrass Tea which worth $12.80 without the deal.

The Pineapple Fried Rice was served with with some meat floss, cashew nuts, prawn, slices of cucumber & tomato and one whole bunch of spring onion. Presentation was quite nice, but would rather they provide more ingredients instead.
The fried rice was quite good, just a bit dry. Well, it is Pineapple FRIED rice and not Pineapple rice, so it is supposed to be dry instead of succulent and moist.
The lemongrass drink was normal, nothing special.

Pineapple Fried Rice and Lemongrass Drink

Maybe its worth exploring some other more authentic Thai dishes.

bad service
Cries 2011-12-03

when i saw the restaurant name, i thought the place sell glutinous rice but instead they sell thai food with a bit of Peranakan touch to it. the food taste not too bad, quite tasty but the service is really too horrible. the staff were very lethargic when taking our orders and we waited for more than 30min for the food. i agree peak hour may have more customers so will take longer before the food can be served but the waiting time was just too long. and with the staff bad attitude, i wanted to just leave the restaurant without eating the food, so will never go back again

Very suitable for who dint have good appetite.
It looks quite normal, but it's taste is nice.

The Mango Sticky Rice is also very nice.

Comforting food on a rainy day
Smile 2011-11-02

It's now rainy season in Singapore, and all you need is a hot meal that warms up your body. I got that comforting feeling after having a simple meal in Sticky Rice.

 Menu

They serve a wide variety of authentic Thai food. Good service too.

 Many choices

For seafood tom yum, you can choose between red and clear soup. We ordered the clear tom yum, it tastes sour, and slightly hot. I reckon it is better than the one you can get in Thai Express.

   Seafood tom yum (clear)

Red duck curry with lychees and grapes gives a good flavour. The sweetness of lychees and grapes blends in just well with the aroma of red curry. Yummy! A good dish to go with fragrant rice. However, it would be better if they serve more duck meats in the dishes.

Red duck curry with lychees and grapes

We also ordered the fried glass noodles with seafood. To our surprise, the noodles has some gravy. Very nice and moist! The seafood are fresh, and with some tomato cuts, fresh chives and eggs, it's a well-balanced dish. Simple and nice smile

Sticky Rice
Just OK 2011-11-01

Sticky Rice is a Thai bistro, serving fairly traditional interpretations of popular Thai dishes.
I ordered tom yam noodles, They are quite generous with the seafood & not overly sweet.
& also ordered red ruby but this was way below average. The rubies were pretty tasteless, there was too much ice instead of coconut milk they used evaporated or something. resulting in a bland, icy, tasteless disaster.
Overall i rate 5/10

thai food
Smile 2011-09-25

Green curry chicken
Green curry with chicken, aparagus and eggplant is best eaten with fragrant white rice. The curry is more Thai cuisine taste which is more spicy than Singaporean style curry. I have my bowl of rice covered with the curry gravy as i'm a curry lover too!
Recommendation: 4.5/5

Thai Mango salad and fish cakes
The mango salad is very refreshing and perfect for a starter. A little sour but it's okay for me. For the Fish cake, it tastes like "Otah-otah" but more firm as it is fish cake.
Recommendation: 3.5/5

Tomyam Soup
Yummy! It looks not very spicy but it actually does. Not much tomyam taste but very sour and spicy. It's just normal among all the tomyam i had.
Recommendation: 2.5/5

$9.90 Thai Set Lunch
Just OK 2011-07-29

We ordered 2 out of the 3 weekday set lunch choices to share. We also added the Grilled Squids from the A La Carte Menu. The set lunch comes with 1 main, 1 side and a drink.

   Fire Noodle

We had Fire Noodle which is thin flat rice noodle fried with vegetables, cut chilli and mushroom. It has the "wok hei" taste and slightly spicy.

 Thai Fish Cake

The fish cake is not spicy enough and does not have the bouncy feel.

 Tom Yum Soup

The clear tom yum soup is not bad, comes with some chicken and prawn.

   Fried Tang Hoon

The fried tomato flavoured Tang Hoon is not spicy and has a chewy texture.

 Grilled Squid $11.90

The Grilled Squid was a disappointment. It comes with some raw vegetables but the Squid is not marinated with enough sauce and not grilled long enough.

The place is ok if you want to have a cheap Thai set lunch as the portion is enough for 1 person and you can choose lemongrass drink. At other Thai place the lemongrass drink would cost around $3-$4.

Service is quite good, as they provide small plate as we were sharing the 2 different set lunches.

The environment is a bit dim, but I guess it supposed to have a cosy effect. It is more cafe style than fine dining.
