Sushi Express

Been here a dozen times but this should probably be my last. I wont deny how i used to enjoy the price and justifiable quality of the food, but each time i go back there i get disappointed.

Find yourself 'fighting' for food all the time with fellow diners given the large amount of diners surrounding a shared conveyor belt. Was seated at one of the few back seats before and coudn't get most of the food I wanted as it all got snapped up real quickly. Raise your hand you would say but ''sorry we do not help serve food, but you can stand up and walk over to get the food yourself" is what you will get. Yup, do that if you don't mind all the eyes on you. I did that once, all because I was rushing for time.

Lucky you if you are seated near to the chefs. But even so, don't be too happy as it depends on where the chefs want to place the food. It's either you get it first, or you don't at all. True story.

As i recall my dinner yesterday with my family (4 of us) i'm still upset. We were given those single seats near the chefs instead of the normal table and i thought well, at least we get to the food first. I was wrong. 30 mins into the dinner i still had not grabbed any plate of sushi because 1)50% of the belt is empty and 2) the chefs just keep placing the food on the other side which will only come to us last. To avoid the crowd we decided to have our dinner early but to our disappointment, we weren't even full and they even imposed an hour limit on us? 45 mins into the dinner i finally saw them placing the sashimi within an arm's length of mine. I grabbed about 2 plates and the rest was out of our reach.

Anyway, as the price suggests, I don't expect much customer service.
We spent about $70-$80 for 4 of us. But we would rather pay a little more to have a better ambience and a conveyor belt full of food at the other restaurants.

This is the place to go for cheap sashimi, with each plate going at a standard prize of $1.50. They have salmon and tuna sashimi, both of which are relatively fresh, considering how fast that these two get snatched off the conveyor belt. I came across the sea urchin sushi once, and only once. It wasnt fantastic, but for the price paid, i think it is very worth.

The scallop is big and sweet But i heard that this might be seasonal :/ Hopefully it will still be available when i next go!

First time coming here to eat. Very cheap for rotating sushi at $1.50 per plate.Tea bags and hot water are available at the counter table for free flow DIY hot tea. Tea at this place is free.Miso soup
Served in a paper bowl with pieces of salmon and tofu. Tastes just nice, not too salty.The various sushi which we have tried are fresh and juicy.The maki here have interesting variety.The side dishes are also very tasty.

I could see the sushi chef is kept busy to fill up the rotating belt, stacking as much as he could. The staff counting my plates has super eyesight. With a look, she knows how many plates on the tables.

This place gets really crowded during peak lunch hour time. We were fortunately to be able to get a corner seat after waiting a few minutes. So each sushi is priced at about $1.50 per plate and it's the cheap and affordable sushi that draws crowds here. Thankfully, the sushi is sufficiently, decently fresh at that price point and I did enjoy my lunch despite the crowds and the wait. The sushi dishes were replenished quite frequently and we were able to get what we wanted from the conveyor belt. We went for the tuna sushi which was a little tough, perhaps it could have been fresher. Perhaps my favourite was the seared salmon sushi which was had a faint charred smell that was oddly satisfying.

It was pretty crowded during peak hours especially dinner time. They have several types of sushi that I have not seen before, pretty special. Besides, I also like the blueberry cheesecake that they have, worth the try! Some thing I dislike about this Sushi Express is that they only allow 50 minutes of eating time. I'm not sure if they do that during non-peak hours. Besides, it was quite uncomfortable as there weren't much space for me to even put my hand beside me. Overall, I feel that this place is good if you want to have a quick lunch or dinner, as the name goes 'Sushi Express'. The ambience isn't for couples to have a romantic or quiet moment together. =)

At S$1.50 (excluding prevailing taxes) per plate, there is no wonder why people are queuing up outside the restaurant despite the waiting time. For budget-conscious diners, this is no doubt a perfect place for you to eat to your heart's and stomach's content without costing a bomb. At its very affordable price, you can find a pretty amazing variety serving the usual favourites like salmon/tuna sashimi, scallops, prawns, different varieties of sushi and maki, and many more. What's more? If you are looking for desserts to sweeten your palate after those savouries, mango pudding and cheesecakes are also available on the conveyor belt. The only limiting factor to stop you from feasting is the 50-minute time frame imposed for each dining table (so that more people have the chance to dine in too). But, that is still no excuse for you not to drop by to savour the great variety.

With no surprises and just baseon the restaurant name,you will be easily understand that this restaurant is profession in making different types of sushi that cater for everyone needs. Love their sticky japanese rice which are really fragrant and goes really well with their different types of toppings on it. The seaweed which is surrounded on the sticky rice is chewy and not too salty. The price is also quite reasonable and would definitely be here for more.

Heard from my friend that this restuarant serves sushi which is value for money and hence, decided to give it a try. Indeed, every plate of sushi or sashimi which is placed on the belt is only $1.50! Cheaper than most, if not all, of the Japanese restaurant! In terms of taste of food, I think that it is only average. Besides the salmon sushi and salmon sashimi, the rest of the sushi do not taste as good. There is also not much variety. Nevertheless, I still think that it is worth trying given the reasonable pricing. No wonder the queue is always so long!

Love this place. My friend brought me here and the food here is so so so affordable. Both of us only paid like 10 bucks and we had our fill in awesome salmon and fishes!! The grilled salmon belly is the best! Omg so delish and the normal salmon sashimi and bellly was so good as well. Love that they have such a wide variety of fresh sushi for you to choose from and the best part of it all was every plate you eat was only 1.50!!!!! SUPER worth it!!

and of course, this included free flow of green tea!!!!

One of the cheapest sushi train in town. Whether it's sashimi or mere sushi, everything goes at $1.50 per plate and it comes with free flow of green tea. Nope, you do not order the green tea, you make it yourself. The tea bags and hot water tap in where you are sitting.The miso soup contains lots of ingredients. There's seaweed, toufu and salmon (lots of salmon slices). The soup is yummy too. If not for the fact that I wanted to try different kinds of sushi (not forgetting that I have an extremely tiny appetite), I have to choose to stop at one bowl.Many doesn't know what this is. For those who don't, this is actually the rim of the scallop. I like how chewy the meat is. The jelly fish is nice. Not too spicy nor too sweet. But just right.Salmon sashimi with 3 thick slices. I hope they could slice slightly thinner abit. But it's only $1.50 the thicker it is, the better it might be to some. I still like my salmon about 0.3cm in thickness.For some reason, the salmon on the salmon sushi didn't taste as nice as the sushi. It didn't quite bring out the flavor.Took the mango pudding as dessert. This one has nata de coco in it. Not bad...taste exactly like those instant ones I get from cold storage.

If you love salmon, try their salmon belly sushi
If you love scallop, the king scallop is a must-try!
If you love new-creation sushi, try cheesy lobster sushi!
If you love mango pudding, their mango pudding has nata de coco added!
All for just $1.80 per plate, with free green tea

It was a fine saturday after i finished my work in the afternoon. I went to City Hall for some shopping. And i passed by Sushi Express was having their sushi at $1.50 per plate! It was really worth it though. Although the queue was really long, but i believe good things worth the wait. So i queue for about 15-20 minutes then i get to eat my sushi! Its my favourite all the time. The sushi served was great and yummy.

This is a memorable dining moment for me because first time being here and amazingly together with my friends we cleared so many plates! (shown later)

This is the exterior look at the queing point, whereby you can see what are the dishes that will be on the buffet style system later. haha! There interesting one like Swordfish sashimi.& The pricing of the buffet depends on how much you eat (!)
Every plate you take is $1.50!
So you can eat as many plate as you want and pay later!GUESS HOW MANY PLATES WE ATE? There's 7 of us!

At the same time, there's tea packet by the side as you can chitchat with your friends and refill it when you are thirsty after talking.

If only they have more variety, looking forward for improvement..

Went there when it first opened couple of months ago this year and the promotion was everything at $1

Somehow i would not go there again for the sushi and sashimi as the quality is not to my taste/liking even after the opening their normail price is just at an affortable $1.80 per plate

Had 10 plates and i only paid $11 during the opening of the shop's promotion and it's the first time i did not complete my plate of tuna sashimi.

Been walking past here but did not have the chance to step into this shop. Today, i have decided to step in and give it a try ~

The whole place is brightly lit and the environment is clean and cozy ~ We arebeing brought to a sofa seat. The wasabi and the soya sauce came in a pack form and the tea was free flow ~

The rice was not over soak with vinegar and the salmon series was all fresh and taste great. *thumb up*Overall dining experience: All the servers are polite and work in a fast pace.
