However the soup this time round was a lot cloudier and oilier than normal, which is very strange because I've ordered this dish many times and the soup is always very clear. Not sure what happened today...however the taste of the soup was still equally good.

Was feeling peckish so I also ordered some sushi for myself - Ebiko Avocado Maki. I wished there was more ebiko (flying fish roe) but I was still very satisfied with this maki. I really loved the soft creamy avocado within...makes me want to have more of it right now!

I don't think the food at Sushi Tei is all yummy but I definitely love the 2 dishes I ordered today and they have been consistently good too.

Tempura Cold Soba

Cold noodle chilled with ice cube. Ice cube was founded inside the soba when i digged the soba. Tempura was fresh but it was a bit too oily.

Fried Salmon Belly

The number of salmon belly of its red plate is quite a lot and we ate it till too fully due to the oilness as well. Rest assured with non-smelly smell but it was not crispy enough.

Soba with Salmon

It is not a cold soba with the referring to first dish. Nonetheless, it is still a noodle. Same taste and type except it is not a cold type. Salmon is fresh and nice to eat together with the soba and the soup for its soba.

The served soba may be quite dry, shall put the soup/sauce to release the driness.

Wanted to have something healthy for lunch today, so I got myself a cha soba and shared a sashimi salad. The portion was just right and everything was good, just that I found the noodles chewier than normal. We requested to have just salmon and tako for the sashimi and we got the Sushi Tei dressing. I've ordered this many times and I love how refreshing this dish is with the crunchy veg and tangy dressing.

There were 5 big slices for $8, and the sashimi was nice and soft. Yum yum

Aburi Salmon Sushi
I ALWAYS order this when I'm at Sushi Tei, even though I feel that it does not taste as good as it used to. For those who have not come across this sushi before, it features salmon that has been seared at the top, with 2 salmon roes. I've always loved aburi salmon because you get to taste the nice soft raw salmon but the seared side also gives a more intense flavour - the best of both worlds!

What makes a good crispy tempura is the creation of temperature between the batter and the oil.

Since day one, Sushi Tei standard of preparing Ebi Tempura remain unchanged. Keep it up.

On top of this, it seemed that all the outlets have a quality control standard of preparing their tempura dishes.

Having been to their several outlets island wide, I find the cooking standard of tempura preparation are pretty consistent.

Bluefin tuna sashimi! There were 5 pieces of maguro resting on a bed of sticky rice. Wish they could put some fish roes on top which would make it taste better! Sashimi was fresh. Worth a try.

This is so unique, Golden Roll. Crispy tempura prawn with sushi rice wrapped with mango stripes. The tempura prawn is crispy and you can taste the freshness of the prawn. The sweet mango stripes enhance the taste the prawn and rice. A must try at Sushi Tei.

My 2nd time to Sushi Tei and again at Japanese restaurant, we drool for their sushi instead of mains.

Mini Golden Roll

A must-try for everyone. Such a unique combination of tempura and mango. And the tempura taste so nice and crispy.

Assorted Nigiri Sushi

Do try their sushi. Got all the right choice. There is salmon, black caviar, sweet shrimp, whelk clam and squid. All fresh and crunchy especially whelk clam and squid. Black caviar is a must try. Generous amount of caviar with a little sweet taste. Price range from $2.20 onwards.

Kani Ikura

It tastes like any fried rice you can find out there and I think it is because of that fish roe that makes it a little special. Too pricey for a normal fried rice. Taste a little salty but that's what makes it tasty. With some crabstick in it, I won't opt for this next round.

Ika Sugata (Teriyaki)

There is nothing special about this grilled squid except the freshness. Chewy taste. But please dip mildly on their sauce. A little too salty.

Cha Soba

Dipping that cold soba in the sauce, the texture is smooth. No 'WOW' factor.

Will come back again for more of their sushi.

Gyoza $6
Inside the gyoza are octopous and squid. This tasted average.
Hanasaki Ika Tempura $6
The batter was very crispy and not oily. It was also lightly flavoured with chilli powder but it was not spicy.

Overall, service was okay and food was quite yummy. Will go back again

Sushi Tei, along with ichiban boshi, is one of the better japanese food chains, and their desserts are not bad as well. This time, I tried their famous golden roll - sushi shaped like a prawn, wrapped with mango and topped with fish roe. I got the mini one for around $11. I like the sweet and savory combination, which brings out the taste of the prawn. Presentation was also good and appealing. I would think the normal sized one is more worth it for $16. This is my favourite Sushi restaurant Sushi Tei, my favourites include the scallops with the mayonnaise, salmon sashimi, grilled teriyaki beef, the rice sets etc.Food-wise, the ingredients are fresh and taste as authentic as any other Japanese restaurants in Singapore, quality is reasonable for the price. In summary, I will return here. Some patience needed initially, but once seated and the food is flowing it's a pleasant dining experience!

The menu recommends this for 1-2 pax.It comes with an assortment of seafood. Salmon, prawn, squid, scallop and the usual vegetables of leek, carrots, white cabbage and golden mushrooms. This was however, definitely just for one. Even on a light meal. The stock was dashi? It was a lil too salty as a soup base. I'd recommend either a side of rice or sushi just to give your palate a break from all that salt.It was a good light meal though. All warm and satisfied.
