The restaurant is located in Northpoint Shopping Mall and is popular with families. Tonight the family decide to have dinner there too. Chicken Istimewa ($15.90)Succulent chicken laced in a mild spicy fragrant marinate evoking the traditional culinary delicacy of exotic Indonesia. The chicken is prefectly grilled to a crisp brown exterior but ooh so juicy inside.... Served with traditional Achar, prawn crackers, steamed rice & an indulgent dollop of sambal balachan. This dish, an epitome of a rich Asian cutlure, just makes us want to be home for Christmas. The dish is available in Nov only. The chicken is tender and flavourful but would prefer it to be more moist. The balachan is a bit too little. The Achar is quite tangy and refreshing. The crackers seem to be the supermarket type, not freshly made.Grilled Fish Sambal ($15.90)Oh so tender fish fillet with special sambal chilli served with mashed potatoes and vegetable-of-the-day.One of the healthier choices in the menu as it is lower in calories. The fish is thick and chunky, while the sambal reminds one of satay sauce being rich and nutty. The potato mash that serves with it tastes a bit dry.Teriyaki Chicken Pasta ($16.50)Grilled chicken thigh smothered in teriyaki sauce served with spaghetti and vegetable-of-the-day.One of the healthier choices in the menu as it is lower in calories. This is everyone's favourite as the chicken is very tender, moist and flavourful.Grilled Chicken Salad ($12.50)Fresh lettuce, grilled chicken, cabbage and carrots tossed with crunchy almonds and thousand island dressing. One of the healthier choices in the menu as it is lower in calories. Quite refreshing and crunchy although I would prefer a lighter dressing to be used here. Currently there is a promotion where one can enjoy 50% off this dish with minimum order of 2 Healthier Choice main dishes. Grab the coupon from HealthHub mobile app.Firecracker Soft Shell Shrimps ($8.50)Therse flavour bombs are coated with a tasty blend of spices and fried for that prefect battered morsels are served with our very own pineapple BBQ sauce. The shrimps are quite crispy and go well with the sweet sauce. Under the shrimps, there are fries too.Overall the food is average. The place is packed even on the weekday. The staffs around seem to be not up to date with the latest promotion. When I told them about the 50% off promotion, they lead me to a round about as most do not know about it. continue reading

Me and my friends decided to go visit Swensens on a weekday night.Albeit it was crowded and we had to queue a bit before we get in, the service was rather prompt, including waiting for our dishes to be served, considering the number of customers sitting inside.we ordered a main dish and shared a dessert, the Earthquake ice cream.I had their Baked Spaghetti Bolognaise Pasta, which was done just well. Of course you might get better versions elsewhere but i'm satisfied with their version here Will go back again to try other desserts they have continue reading

I had chicken baked rice at this restaurant. It is a very warm dish (beware: do not touch the steaming sides of the plate) and I find the cheesy flavour of it especially enticing. Managed to eat the plate clean. This is followed by 5 scoops of ice-cream. The usual flavours apply - though they have introduced a new one: gula melaka. For an ice-cream flavour, it is both unique and attractive! continue reading

My niece has chosen the kid's meal during our family gathering and i was quite happy to see the food items served to her after about fifteen minutes. The cup of sweetcorns was quite crunchy and not too salty, really good for kids. The french fries are also crispy and not too oily. The burger was abit too dry and lack of dressings, but still the overall presentation looks good and appearing. continue reading

Feeling attracted by Swensen's christmas menu, i dropped by there and ordered a "Grilled Turkey Breast and Chestnut Stuffing" as i would like to grab the chance to taste some 'real' turkey instead of the more common processed turkey ham that are should in supermarket all year round. The grilled turkey breast comes with a meat patty on top and drizzled with herb gravy, accompanied with brussel sprouts, carrots, glazed chestnuts and mashed chickpea potato. There was also a serving of cranberry sauce at the side in a small saucer.Disappointingly, the turkey breast, being the main star of the dish, was really tough, dry and tasteless. Fortunately, the herb gravy and cranberry sauce saves it from its flaw. In contrast, the meat patty was soft and full of flavour. It was grilled golden brown on both side, adding a smoky taste to it. The accompanied brussel sprouts and carrots were tasteless too, without any sauce for them. Nevertheless, the mash potatoes was soft and tasty, while the glazed chestnut (my favourite item in this dish) was really sweet!Overall, a rather upsetting meal which i won't return for. Maybe other items in the Christmas menu would be better. continue reading
