Introduction
Located on the fringe of the historic Kampong Glam district, Symmetry is an all-day dining restaurant and bar with the laid-back sensibility of Aussie culture. Much has changed since we opened our doors in 2012. We’ve grown, refined our menus, revamped our space but the philosophy at the core of all we do is as true today as it ever was - to make honest, delicious food meant for sharing, and bringing people together through warm service. continue reading

Pork belly with nashi pear and red cabbage slaw, berries mustard and potato mousseline. It has the right amounts of fat and and the other components of this dish, did just the right things to bring out the flavors.Nice unique presentation and i love the overall taste 🍴😊Mention truffle fries and it's a favorite among many people! I have already heard of good reviews so my expectations were pretty high for it.I wasn't disappointed! It's really yummy! Truffle taste was strong enough, pretty good portion. I love it!Great for mushroom lovers! I love this. Firstly, i find the presentation nice. Taste wise, didn't disappoint. Exterior was nice and crisp, once you cut it open, lots of mushroom goodness in it. I like the hint of truffle-y taste in this when you bite into it. It's simply heavenly! continue reading

For pictures and full review, pls visit:http://madamechewy.com/2015/11/10/brunch-symmetry/Café by day and restaurant at night, Symmetry’s offering are inspired by Australian casual dining culture and French cuisine. Brunch plates here exemplify timeless comfort. The venue is very small and was so packed during the weekends, so much so that I was unable to take any nice pictures of the space. Generally, the vibes are good. Expect rustic, slightly uncoordinated decor, loud music, noisy chatter and energetic, efficient staff.Dull in presentation but not in taste, the Crisps Baby Squid ($17) is one of the better ones I’ve tried in recent memory. Perfectly fried and well-seasoned, the crisp batter gave way to chewy baby squids. Dip it into the accompanying black pepper aioli for optimum enjoyment.Symmetry is well-known for their truffle fries and I’m glad to say that they did not disappoint. The Potato Fries ($15) with truffle oil emulsion emanates an earthy aroma, and rewards the palate with a depth of flavors that made me want to chase every bite with another. The portion is generous, good for sharing between 3-4 diners but for 2 people it’s simply too much (hubby and I were struggling to finish them). Wished Symmetry made these fries available in small and large sizes.Everything is better with an egg on it, unfortunately for us, the sous vide style eggs in The Flan ($24) failed to flow as they were overcooked. The combination of melt-in-the-mouth Berkshire pork cheek, mushroom ragout, low temperature eggs, soubise sauce, mashed potatoes, pommery mustard and argula makes for an atypical brunch treat, a welcomed change from predictable brunch dishes.I was craving for something sweet and Symmetry Waffles ($16) caught my eye. Stacked aesthetically, the waffles are spruced up with summer berries compote, peanut butter, hazelnut, maple syrup, Chantilly cream and berries ice cream. The waffles themselves were good- the exterior brown and crisps while the insides remain moist and plush. Satisfaction guaranteed!Although prices veer towards the higher end, the ingredient quality, creativity and execution is worth the price tag. IMHO, Symmetry is one of the better brunch destinations in Singapore. continue reading

Things in symmetrical symbolized equilibrium and harmony, it has to be felt good. That’s what we are looking for when stepping into this cafe. Classic French cuisine is served in this cosy cafe located at Jalan Kubor. Rustic furniture and touch of eclectic decoration inlay amongst the red brick to create a chic contemporary ambience with emphasis on European’s wildness. The choice of outdoor sittings provide an alternative for those prefer the natural airThe price seems high when looking through the menu and the expectations naturally goes hand on hand.We ordered Crispy Baby Squid $17, Symmetry Eggs Benedict $22, Truffle Potato Fries $15, Truffle Mushroom Carbonara $23, Symmetry Eggs Sur Le Plat $24 and Waffles $16.Must try the Symmetry Eggs Benedict, Symmetry Eggs Sur Le Plat, Truffle Mushroom Carbonara and Truffle Potato Fries. Our verdict, Symmetrical comes with balancing of everything to achieve harmony and equilibrium. At Symmetry, the price is not easily to stomach for many and not easily balanced with the budgets, fortunately, it made up with the quality of the food. Please refer to www.ieatandeat.com for details review. continue reading

Tried their truffle fries and cold drip coffee. The cold drip coffee had citrus notes and it wasn't very bitter (usually when people drink long back, bitter comes to mind!) as the added lemon gave it the slight sourness and sweetness too. I love this drink! Served icy cold, it was a refershing drink too. The truffle fries were a little overrated I feel. The truffle taste was not even. Some fries lacked the truffle flavour while it was present in others. Symmetry is a lovely place though. I love the ambience continue reading

A while back during one of food tasting session, I had a chat with a passionate “Pastry Chef Blogger”, about what is her pick for a must try cafe in Singapore. Symmetry Cafe was her pick.Following her recommendation we decided to give this cafe a try on a Saturday Morning. Without knowing, it was actually nearby where LD's pick for food reflexology in SG. Symmetry Cafe is a new breed of cafes in Singapore that are heavily influenced by the Australian casual dining trends. It is a cafe by day and morph into casual restaurant bar by night. Definition of bar, is that alcohol is definitely involve here. A place for people to gather to enjoy a great meal and drinks. Food sharing are welcome. We walk in without reservation that morning and was lucky enough to get a table. The service staff politely inform us that due to prior reservation, we need to vacate the table at a certain time. No problemo, so we quickly placed our brunch order.Hickory Corned Beef & Hash ($22) catch my eyes, while LD's pick Truffle Egg Mushroom ($21) with extra hash brown. My caffeine pick was Latte and LD's goes for Chai Tea Latte and Calpis Soda drink. My Corned Beef served in a cast iron pan. Food is kind of interesting, as it looked like it is all mash up together, but all the ingredients gel well. I poke the egg to allow the yolk to ooze to the corned beef, and using my bread to scoop it. The corned beef is flavourful and not salty, while the potatoes and salad give a different texture to the dish. The bread used here has a similar texture to the soft colourful traditional coffeeshop bread. It will be good if there is another slice of bread to polish up the proteins.LD's Truffle Egg Mushroom comes with scrambled eggs, sautéed mushrooms, truffle oil, berries butter and toast. Served on a long plate, the presentation is just gorgeous. The eggs are fluffy and the mushrooms are nicely executed, however she was a little taken back by the pungent smell of the truffle oil. It seems the kitchen was a little too generous with it. The hash browns are crispy and the berries butter goes down well with the toast. The latte is smooth and well balanced. While the Chai Tea Latte is a bit on the sweet side and lack of cinnamon according to LD. We both enjoy the calpis soda, although it is slightly flat, missing the carbonated feel of soda.Service was good and polite, however it can be slightly hard to catch their attention. The ambiance here is very good. Crowded yet relaxing with lounge music playing in the background. They try to maximise the space available with counter seats as well. We manage to check out before the customers that reserved the table arrives.Overall, Symmetry Cafe / Restaurant Bar are one of the best cafe that we tried this year. The food is great and the same can be said about the atmosphere. The best part, you can actually make reservation online, so you won't get disappointed. Drinks price for brunch is on the high side, more like bar price instead of cafe. Thanks Fundamentally Flawed for the recommendations.
