The place used to be the place to go for prata. Standard had dropped and there was another prata shop down the street with carpark just next to it. Menu was located next to the cashier. One just paid for the order at the cashier and remember to tell the cashier your table number. Teh Ice ($1.40)Lots of ice cubes and tasted a tab bland.Banana Prata ($4.50)The prata was stuffed with slices of banana and condensed milk. Sweet and rich although I wished that the prata could be more crispy.Do take note that some order could take quite a long while to come. continue reading

Its been quite a long while since I visited the place...On Saturday morning, we decided to go there for breakfast...The kosong (plain) prata at Thasevi is slightly more crispy, smaller and firmer, the curry taste quite good and slightly less spicy...The prata standard drop a lot and gotten more expensive as well...For the service, I had a bad experience with their staff who was very rude, showing attitude which don't quite understand how to talk to a customer or even the basic politeness... continue reading

Have you ever wondered how the referees are always kayu? Could it be that they always eat at Jalan Kayu? Hmm you will never know... no one will actually know but anyhow... this was what we did one night after driving from Seletar dam....We ordered prata and for me well i settled for an ice milo dinosaur... king kong and godzilla were having coffee so they were not available so i guess we had to go to the prehistoric ages...I paid a total of $9 for 3 kosong and 1 egg shared between 2 people and 1 ice milo dinosaur and 1 cup of teh.. Imagine all the people.... ok never mind but imagine everyone there around 11... Busy as hell... The service pretty sub standard. No complaints for this..Here is how we get to this place.. Not that easy to get there... you would have to take the TPE and take the exit that says Jaln Kayu i think exit 9, turn left and go to the roundabout and maintain a right... and then go straight past the traffic light NOT back to the expressway... go straight and continue to the Jalan Kayu Carpark... continue reading

I was wonder why there are also long queues outside this food stall, and finally decided to drop by here to check out their signature roti pratas. Bought the plain version and the egg version. Both are made only upon orders and it only took them less than ten minutes to serve it to our table. The pratas are quite fluffy and moist in texture. The outer layer was quite crispy and great to eat on its own or dip into their thick curry gravy. continue reading

I went to Thasevi Food on a Saturday evening at around 11PM and the place was still packed to the brim with a lot of people out late on a Saturday night for supper.I've heard that the place serves really good prata and was excited to try it out and I ordered Banana Prata ($4.30) and an Iced Teh Tarik. The Banana Prata was underwhelming for the price paid, and for the hype this place has. The prata arrived lukewarm and it lacked a certain crisp expected of pratas. As for the Iced Teh Tarik, there was too much ice in the drink and the entire drink ended up being incredibly bland. However, before the ice melted entirely, it should be noted that the taste of the teh tarik was really good - pity that the ice drowned out the flavours in the drink. continue reading
