The Asian Kitchen 亚洲小厨

Since I had tried their la mian the last time I went there, I decided to try something different this time. I ordered their minced meat rice which they called it eggy rice ($6.50). The portion is really small and it was a bit salty. I also ordered a few dishes to go with it. The smoked duck ($8.80) was quite good. Instead of serving it cold like many appetizers, the restaurant serves it warm with seasonal vegetables. What I really like was the Hakka salted pork ($9.80), which is second in the picture. The meat and the fat proportion is just nice so it is very soft. It isn't too salty and perfect with rice.

since my previous trip to Asian Kitchen was quite a pleasant one. I have decided to patronize them again. This time round I have ordered their Tonkotsu La Mian which consists of their succulent pork belly served in the hot pork broth. The soup is very tasty and spicy at the same time. But I love the soup. Asian Kitchen has used the real authentic Japanese essence and flavors of the broth. The noodle is very chewy and the pork belly is very tender. However, every piece I consume there will be a small portion of fats.

The asian kitchen offers a more of chinese cuisine. Ranging from rice, to noodles. They do have lots of items on their menu so it might take awhile to decide on what to eat. Their prices are around the same as other chinese restaurant which is considered as affordable. Their food were tasty, serve hot, and delicious. Good place fod good chinese food.

It was dinnertime and I was out with my friend at Vivocity, so we decided to drop by The Asian Kitchen for dinner since we were alrdy both hungry. It was still early, about 6pm, so there wasnt a queue or crowd when we reached there.

We were given a menu to share and after some time, I decided to go for what I liked best frm this place, a plate of simple fried rice. My fren wanted someting spicy, and as the soft shell crab la mian was the only thing listed on the menu as spicy, he decided to go with that.

The time for the food to come was pretty slow, about 20minutes, although there wasnt alot of ppl in the restaurant. My fried rice came 1st, and it smelt really nice. Smoke could be seen rising frm the plate of rice too. Waited quite a while longer before my fren's noodles came (may b becos the noodles were hand-made and made immediately after order, which is why the long wait). Tried his noodles and they were really springy. The soup base was not spicy as advertised though, it was very sour. (Tom Yam) I also pinched a little of his soft shell crab, but they were abit soggy after being soaked in the soup, but were still to my liking as I love soft shell crab.

For my fried rice, it had alot of luncheon meat all over, eggs, and mixed vegetables commonly found in fried rice. I took out the carrots, which I alwys do as I didnt like the carrots frm mixed veg (they were hard). The luncheon meat, when eaten tgt with the rice, was simply very nice. It was a simple yet able to satisfy me food. There were so many cubes of luncheon meat that even after I finished my fried rice, there were still some leftover. Haha.

Overall, nice yet simple dinner I had, but a very satisfying one indeed.

Find the food normal only, maybe I didn't order their specialities.

Their recommended pork chop noodles was quite plain, simple noodles and fried pork chop soaked in clear soup.

Their service wasn't good too. Despite numerous reminders, they failed to serve our steam dumplings even after we finished our lunch. Worst still, they refused to cancel the order twice claiming that it will be ready soon. Finally managed to cancel the order only after getting their manager.

The other dishes that my colleagues ordered seems quite nice - Suan La Mian, soft shell crab noodles. Maybe I can try those next time if I happened to be here again with a group.

We walked past this outlet and saw that there's a 10% discount for ANZ credit card holders so we decided to give it a try.

The fried rice with egg was only so so to me as it's not fragrant and dry enough. However the bacon wrapped with shrimps was unique and tasty! Other dishes like guo tie and rice paper roll was ok as well. The rice paper roll was somewhat interesting to me in the presentation.

The season beans are fresh and cooked just the way I liked- not too hard and not too soft. The small pieces of meat added to the dish is simply too delicious. It goes well with the season beans, and can even simply eat it with rice. The prawns are big and fresh too. As a whole, this dish is pleasant and delightful. The environment is suitable for chilling and the service is good.

My friend introduced us to this place as she says their food is not bad so we gave it a try. Ordered their la mian but i dont remember the name of it already but i know it costs around $6.90 ? as there are nothing inside it except for la mian.

I quite like their soup as it is not particularly bland as well. Ordered their guo tie that was filled with vegetables and meat, and also their xiao long bao! i prefered their xiao long bao since i don't really like that the guo tie was filled with vegetables.

service was great as they came by to refill your water often too despite it being a little packed on that night.

It was my first time at Asian Kitchen and my friend suggested trying their Zha Jian Mian so I ordered a bowl. The noodles were handmade and soft, very well-made. The bean sauce was a little spicy but was really delicious especially when you combine everything together with the toufu and the shredded vegetable. The soup came in a small bowl and it helped me to tackle the spiciness of the noodles! We ordered other food like their xiao long bao and guo tie too. They were to acceptable standards but definitely not as good as crystal jade as the texture of the dim sum was not as soft.

Visited Asian Kitchen for weekday dinner on 17 Aug 2010. I had the pork chop la mian ($8.90/ bowl) soup while my friend had the T.A.K. Chili soft shell crab noodles ($11.90). The soft shell crab noodles can be a tad too spicy for those who cannot really take spicy stuff.

The hot & sour soup is not bad especially if you like spicy+sour stuff. The Braised mushroom duck noodle soup (first item on the menu) is a must-try too. Great if you are craving for something hot (not spicy), soupy and tasty. Prawn Wanton La Mian is also good.
