After work, I have packed back a mutton wrap from this Indian fastfood kiosk from this shopping mall. The Indian staffs here are really approachable and recommended me this wrap as is one of their signature dish. The wrap taste really like the normal roti prata, but it is really not that oily and the texture is really firm and quite thick and filling. The mutton meat is very tender and with no stingy mutton smell in it. Lots of fresh crunchy colourful capsicums are filled in it which added that extra crunchiness to this yummy wrap. I should say is a really healthy choice for those health conscious group. At $7 per wrap, is quite expensive but is healthy for everyone. continue reading

I tried Flyin' Bread for dinner yesterday and it's a Mediterranean grill wrap kiosk in 313 Somerset. After eating wraps from Sumo Salad and Salad Stop, I decided it's time for a change and to try something more exotic. Flyin' Bread it is! I ordered the chicken wrap, which is actually grilled spiced chicken (it has a nice curried spice to it and it's tasty enough). Unfortunately, I felt that the chicken was too dry, and worse still, lacking in sauce/juices/gravy of any sort. The wrap comes with a choice of sauce (BBQ, chilli mayo or curry(? or was it yogurt)). I opted for BBQ since it seemed like the right choice given that I was eaten a Mediterranean grill wrap. Not only was the sauce totally negligible (hence the wrap was actually really dry), but the whole wrap was kind of tasteless except for the chicken, which once again, isn't fantastic. The wrap wasn't tightly wrapped at all (you can see from my photo here, I just took the first bite so you can see the filling)The service wasn't fantastic either, I couldn't understand what the server was saying and I had to repeat myself countless times. Also, the service was really slooooow..... We literally waited eons before he took our order, and slooooooowly wrapped the wraps for us, and slooooowly asked which sauces we'd wanted.... Maybe he wanted it to be extra slow and made with extra love.. but I highly doubt that, hahaha.I paid $5.50 for my wrap, which is much cheaper than the gourmet salad wraps you'll find at salad bars, and it kind of shows in the quality too, sadly ): It's mediocre in every sense and I know for sure I won't go back for seconds. continue reading

Had to frequent 313 Somerset quite a bit for the last couple of months. Usually I will grab a light dinner before going for my dealings and eating another light home-cooked dinner thereafter. And so, I had the chance to frequent the Food Hall @ 313 Somerset quite a bit.One of the more tasty treats I had, have to come from the Flying Bread. And it help that they were having an offer of topping $2 for a choice of shakes. I had the avocado shake, decent, thick and  the swirl of chocolate. Not too bad, although I would have loved it if gula melaka was used. continue reading

The Flyin' Bread is one of the many takeaway eateries at 313 Food Hall (it's not as big as Ion Orchard's though). My mom and I were deciding whether to give this stall a try when this man (who's quite likely to be the manager) walked over and explained that what went into the healthy rolls. To make the pita-like wrap, the chef will spin a disc of dough into the air to make it evenly thick. This will then be cooked without any oil and be used to wrap up some veggies and a skewer of lean meat (also grilled without any fat). Apparently the only fat that goes inside will come from the dressing. Truthfully I'm not too concerned about how lean the meat is, just as long as it's not too fatty, but I'm certain there must still be a bit of fat in the meat. You'll only get to catch the chef in action if you're lucky 'cos the rolls are assembled with wraps from a cooker. The meat was grilled on the spot though. Thanks to the good service, I decided to give the Chicken Flyer ($3.50) a try. The wrap was chewy and fluffy, like a healthy version of prata. I liked how the parsley inside the wrap gave it a refreshing edge. Coupled with the fresh veggies, lean meat and tasty dressing, I have to admit that the barbecued meat wrap tasted quite healthy indeed.Much less guilt-rendering than a GoGo Franks prata sausage wrap- I won't mind having this again! continue reading
