The Orange Thimble is a quiet and laid back place among the many cafes in the Tiong Bahru neighbourhood, and is a nice place to chill at especially during weekdays afternoons which is usually most quiet. Both occasions I was there, it was for just snacks and drinks, so the next time I go back I hope to try out their main courses. Both of us shared the chicken shepherd pie and hot chocolate for tea time. The shepherd pie was quite decent with generous chunks of chicken and smooth baked potato. The Hot Chocolate is the bomb, it is rich and thick and so full of chocolately goodness, I can say it is one of the best hot chocolate I have ever tasted. At first taste, you will know it is not the usual instant bland mix that some cafes use. Definitely my cup of chocolate! I also like it that the drinks there comes with the traditional yummy colourful sugar biscuits. continue reading

The cafe is divided into several sections, each with a different look and feel. There are different knick knacks where the cafe still displays the various old school vintage decorations. Super pretty and a photo-worthy placeRich flavorsome broth, the Ox tail soup is quite a delight to tuck into. You can choose between white rice or baguette to go with the stew, but i personally prefer soaking up the yummy broth with the baguette. I thought the dish was a little small, but boy was I wrong! Both my guy friend and I were totally stuffed at the end of the meal!We ordered a couple of rich aromatic cappuccinos after finding out that they specialize in coffee as well. Had brunch with 2 other friends this afternoon. We called to make a reservation earlier and was delighted to find that the place with not very crowded today - relaxed environment for catching up with friends. Service was great too.. We didnt have to wait for long for our food to be ready. This was what I had...Grilled Chicken Sandwich with Burger Bun.It was fine, chicken was a little hard, but bread was soft and fluffy. Side salad as also fresh and crunchy. We ordered the Sheperd Pie in chicken. This was really YUMMY! Potato was soft and chicken and the sauce was just plain good. What my friend had, he ordered this again at his second visit, it must be good. What my friend had and I forgot to ask how was it. But it looks good with the slightly roasted bread.. I also had the Ice Latte which was good, not the overpowering kind which I am afraid of.. Overall, a good experience there and I will be back for more... continue reading

Orange thimble is a very quaint cafe with unique rooms of seatings. Together with 2 friends, we went to have coffee here as a lot of the cafés in tiong bahru estate were closed for Christmas. We ordered chai tea latte ($5.50), mocha ($4.50) and latte ($4.50). They have adopted the food sensor system which personally I find it very efficient as not only it prevent unnecessary queue from forming while waiting for the orders, it also allowed customers to look for a table while waiting for the orders to be ready. However while my friends find the coffee very average, I find my chai tea latte below average as it was diluted. continue reading

This is one of the place in Singapore that i recommended everyone to go if they would want to spend their lazy afternoon chit chatting with their friends. The environment was cozy and make you feel like home. Well, I ordered the chicken stew and an English roll which costs me $17.40. However later I top up another $7.40 for the Earl grey and lychee ice cream. The hot dog was really nice, with the soft bun on the outer. But the chicken stew was alright. I will prefer it to be a little sweeter. Chicken stewEnglish roll Earl grey and Lychee ice cream continue reading
