warm warm soup
Smile 2013-03-20
Was craving for some quality soup so I decided to head to this place for lunch. ordered my usual simon and garfunkel soup. was glad that my points card had accumulated $6.50 inside so I upsize my meal - bigger bowl of soup served with half wrap and a drink.

I like my western soup to be filled with chunks of goodies, and soup spoon definitely does not fail to do that. My large bowl of soup was filled with chicken chunks and mushroom, that makes me full after finishing it. As for the wrap i chose masala chicken, was warned by the store manager that it will be spicy - but to me it was still acceptable.

As there are only a limited seats available, you might need to wait for an available seat during lunch crowd/dinner crowd.

Light Dinner
Just OK 2013-02-25
My friend and I met up for dinner last Friday. Since I was still full and she isn't really a big eater, I suggested we go and eat at Soup Spoon, ION. Even on a Friday, we were able to get seats in less than 30 minutes. However, we were seated in the far corner which was just so cramped. Everytime I moved a little, I would bump into the chair of the person sitting beside me!

Anyway, I ordered just minestrone soup and not the meal. My order came in less than 15 minutes which was a plus. Despite the crowd, they still manage not to starve their customers by waiting for the food to be served.

The food was just blah. It wasn't good and it wasn't bad either. The soup for me could've used more flavour. I felt like when they cooked it, they added more water. I asked the waiter for pepper but they didn't have enough. So, what happened was that we had to wait for someone to be finished with their pepper shaker before he gave it to us. Then when we were done with it, the waiter gave it to another table! haha. The ingredients were generous though so I felt full afterwards.

Chicken Soup Pot Pie
Smile 2013-02-24

   Tokyo Chicken Soup

The Tokyo Chicken Soup is the only 'clear' soup I could find on their menu. The other choices looked too creamy for me since I was only looking to have a light lunch. I decided to get the Pot Pie set ($10.50) to go with the soup, which included salad on the side and a drink. I expected the pastry to be baked together with the soup bowl, but instead, it was just a removable piece of puff pastry placed on top of the soup bowl. The soup was very sweet and had a lot of healthy ingredients in it - radish, carrots, lotus root and other vegetables. The chicken meat was also very soft and was probably boiled for a long time to achieve that tenderness. Overall, I had an enjoyable lunch at The Soup Spoon and will definitely come back here to try their other soups!

Soup is not for drinking

Ever had a day where we couldnt think of what to eat? Soup seems like the only legitimate option?

Well i had one of those days where i couldnt decide what on earth to it that this place attracted me to buy a bowl of their delicious soup.

I was shopping for gifts when i decided well hey.. this place looks nice.. i looked at the soup and the had the calories there to have a calorie watch!

Nice job! Well then i had the Simon and Garfunkel soup! Now this was epic... i wish it was hotter though as i mentioned before in my earlier reviews... that i liike the super duper hot soup feeling!

I paid around 7 to 9 bucks for this? So i think it is quite worth it! The soup is dammmmmmmmmmmmmn good! It has mushrooms.... carrots.. meat and the texture was thick but not a turn off!!!

Will come back for more!

Initially wanted to try the soup with bread on top of the bowl (I kinda forget the name... Pot-something) but since i am not that hungry, I went for the normal soup while my friend went for a set instead.

+ Chicken Mushroom (Wrap)

The filling of the wrap tasted very Asian or maybe very Chinese. Its like some home -cooked dish where you cooked chicken breast meat, mushroom and veg together for dinner. Nothing special. I can't even identify the veg until I saw the description of the dish online. Romaine Lettuce? I would have thought it is spinach. It is kind of hard to cut the veg inside the wrap.

+ Simon and Garfunkel Chicken and Mushroom Ragout

It is a rich, creamy soup. It is not soupy though. It is filled with marinated chunks of chicken and mushrooms. My friend tasted potatoes while i found a chunks of carrots in the soup. A little too dry for soup as it will serve better as a dish to accompany rice instead. Not bad tasting, quite filling. Just not really for a soupy-soup lover, if you know what i mean.

+ Roasted Pumpkin with Caramelized Apple & Toasted Almonds

Pumpkin soup that does not had a strong pumpkin taste, but it is definitely as rich as the Ragout. I did not taste any apple in the soup. My friend did not topped the soup with almonds hence i couldn't give comments on whether the ingredients works together.

The service was fast and nice, I have to give it that.

I think it's value for money. Despite the fact that it isn't really soup they're giving you, but stew, it's pretty filling. Along with the set meal which comes with another wrap or a sandwich. You'll definitely be full.

order your soup,
top up another $4.80 to get a set meal.
my friend chose a regular meatless minestrone soup,
with smoked ham sandwhich and cheese and iced lemon tea.

he said that the macaroni in minestrone soup is too soft,
feels kinda soggy.sad
the sandwhich is not too dry,
they had a stick that is of a toothpick size pricking through the sandwhich,
so that the filling will state in tact when u eat. not messy at all! tongue

next, it's mine!
boston clam chowder,
chicken mushroom wrap, and iced lemon tea..
clam chowder is awesome!
it's thick and rich!lollol

as for the wrap, i don't kinda like it..
seems to have some ginger alike ingredient inside..mad
for a non ginger lover like me, i would suggest to miss this.tongue

total spending is about $22.80.worthwhile!smile

Hot Soup for a Rainy Day.
Just OK 2012-11-01
It was raining during lunch yesterday and we decided to head for some hot, soupy lunch at The Soup Spoon.

Velvety Mushroom Soup for lunch. I regret not ordering the wrap/sandwich and drink together with the soup because that lunch didn't last me too long. (I was VERY hungry at 3pm onwards)

Price was $7.50 for a regular bowl of soup.

Verdict: I'll definitely return for more!!!

This bowl of caesar salad is simply awesome. There's romaine lettuce, homemade croutons, parmesan cheese, eggs and some toppings on top. And it is perfect when you paired it with a cup of ice lemon tea! My stomach simply feels healthy when i ate these food. It is affordable at the same time and i have a member card so i can accumulate points for further food amount deduction! Great!

My friens ordered the mushroom soup which came with a piece of bread. The soup was thick and filled with yummy bits of
mushroom. It went well with the bread and my friend decided to add on another piece for 50 cents. (I forgot if it was 50 or
70 cents.) As for me, I ordered the minestrone soup with the pastry on top. It came with the salad and sauce. It was my mistake for pouring all the sauce over and ended up the salad being too sour to be eaten. Anyway, I ate as much as I could. I loved the sour and sweet cranberries that were with the salad. The pastry was very fluffy and expanded looking. I felt like I was biting into the void and leaving a pile of debris (pastry crumbs) behind. As this was my second time eating this, I learnt from my previous mistake. I did not soak the entire pastry into the soup like that previous time I did. I broke it bit by bit and dipped them into the soup. The tomato based soup tasted good with plenty of ingredients such as macaronis, cabbages and other ingredients a minestrone soup would have.

Mushroom soup
Smile 2012-07-28
Looking for really delicious western soup and got a recommendation from my friend to try their mushroom soup from this outlet. Glad that I have listened to her as the taste is simply delicious and make me want to crave for more. The texture of it is very thick and creamy and is filled with lots of minced mushrooms in it. It is very fragrant and great to have it on its own or go along with some of the garlic bread or plain loaf will equally make it tastes great too!

the sandwich add on from the soup spoon, this is the mushroom & chicken sandwich which i ordered when i chose the set meal for the soup. the sandwich is so so only, the bread is hard and not fragrant, the ingredient inside is mostly vegetable, i could hardly get the chance to bite the chicken or mushroom. anyway the vegetable is refreshing and crunchy but i will not order again because i was so full after having the bread and complimentary bread.

chunky mushroom soup
Smile 2012-07-17
For a healthy meal, I will usually go for a soup at Soup Spoon. Their soups are very wholesome with lots of ingredients used to make the soup which gives the soup the rich flavour. There will be a small bun to accompany each bowl of soup. I ordered the mushroom soup (Velvety Mushroom Stroganoff) which costs $7.30 for the regular bowl. The mushroom soup is really good. It is very creamy and it is very chunky with lots of mushrooms within the soup. I love the biting into the juicy mushrooms bits as I drink the soup on its own or as I dip the bread into the soup. This is definitely a soup not to miss if you like mushrooms!

Great for lunch and dinner
Smile 2012-06-03
If you're looking for a healthier alternative, look no further! Soup Spoon offers both nutritious and pocket-friendly meals that actually taste good!

My mum, sis and I decided to lunch at Soup Spoon one Saturday while shopping as we wanted something good and did not require any queuing. I ordered the Tokyo Stew and a Thai Chicken Vermicelli. My favourite soup so far, out of the 5 that I have tried. This is a clear broth, but its layered flavour hints at hours of stewing, unlike the MSG flavoured soups you get some places. The soup has chicken chunks, carrots, mushrooms and lotus roots.Another favourite of mine, this salad comes with a slightly sour and spicy sauce that you can drizzle over the greens, vermicelli and chicken bits. The blend of sour and spicy makes this a suitable appetizer.

My mum ordered the Tokyo Stew as well, but with the Indochine Prawn wrap. She initially wanted to try the Roast Duck wrap but it was unavailable that day. According to her, the wrap tasted a little like my Thai Chicken Vermicelli, but less sour. I took a bite of her wrap to try, and I still find my salad the better choice

My sister tried the Boston Clam Chowder

   Boston Clam Chowder

which is a thick starchy soup with lots of clam in it. I felt that the chowder was very jelat. But tasty as a whole and might be suitable for someone looking for a filling meal.

All in all, Soup Spoon remains my top choice for a satisfying lunch or dinner. Its also very worthwhile to eat here during the weekends because they have buddy and family promotion packages!

The soup spoon offers a variety of soup item. Quite a big bowl and you will feel full after eating it. It have bread and salad as well. The soup are quite healthy and they even show the calories of the soup on the menu. For people on diet, they do have low calories soup so you can eat without worry. They do have packet soup pack in a vacuum pack as well. Can buy from them, and heat up on your own at home and eat anytime you want.
