Went to Jalan kayu for lunch on a Sunday with my family member. We ordered several dishes which include the chicken biriyani, Indian Rojak, plain prata as well as the masala thosai. First of all the biriyani is well cooked, has a soft and fluffy texture. As for the chicken, it has a very soft and tender texture and the chicken can be separated easily. The gravy is a bit too salty for me but goes well with the chicken as well as the rice. Next the Indian Rojak is quite similar to other Indian stalls. The rojak gravy is not spicy and has a slight sweet taste. Lastly, the serving of the masala thosai is sufficient for one person. The thosai also contain a lot of potato fillings. In addition, it comes with four different gravy to dip with the thosai. The waiting time is not too long and the price is quite reasonable as well. Overall, the quality of the food is still the same as before and will definitely come back again next time. continue reading

Just headed down to Thorirah to get my Mutton Murtabak craving satisfied and I would say that their portion is huge! I ordered their small portion for SGD 7 and it was just nice for me and Mr Heng.I had to struggle a little to finish up my half! If you can see upclose, it consist of a layers of pratas in between and that made every bite pretty starchy. Definitely a good portion for a hungry starving man,But in terms of taste, i think Thasevi which is down the street is much tastier where they pack the murtabak with loads of ingredients and thinner layers of dough in between! continue reading

It was a hot day and we want to look for cold stuff like ice cream but didn't want to spend too much... Usually a cafe will make us poorer by $15 for 2pax, but I spent only $9! Ice cream prata at $5, 2 plain prata and 1 ice milo at $2 big mug (to share)The ice cream prata is crispy, but do eat it first if once it comes! Cos the hot prata gets less crispier when ice cream melts. No free parking even on public holiday. When I left my car, I saw the summon uncle patrolling! Phew! continue reading

Always thought that roti bomb is just a bigger version of roti prata but look at this. The plate is a normal sized plate and thus, the roti bomb is not very big. It is smaller than than the norm but also thicker. The roti bomb tasted sweet and was really crispy on the outside. I liked it quite a lot. If I am not going to my grandma's place for a proper dinner after this, I would have taken like 3 pieces to fill up my stomach. Cost of the roti bomb is $1.50/piece. Other than the roti bomb, hubby also ordered another prata for himself and ordered a plate of mutton curry to share. This was also very good but cost $5 for a small plate. continue reading

Had prata for supper with friends. We ordered one egg prata, one plain, nasi lemak, soup tulung and pattaya rice. The plain prata is a bit hard, the egg prata is just nice. The pattaya rice is spicy also lots of seafood ingredients, the prawns are fresh. The serving portion is just nice for those very-hungry people. The soup tulung soup base is very starchy though. The nasi lemak chicken wings are nicely crispy, the ikan bilis are very tasty too. Overall, we spent around $31.65 (inclusive of GST). continue reading
