What's there not to like about Tom's Palette? A cosy shop, Tom's Palette serves up a wide range of artisan ice cream at really affordable prices (compared to other exorbitant places). I particularly like the Granny's favourite where I can taste the chunks and bits of horlick in my mouth as I eat the delicious ice cream. This is a good place to be on hot afternoons where there is a promotion going on for waffles.

Homemade ice cream
Smile 2013-04-27
The chocolate sherbet here actually put up a good fight with the hei Ice cream at awfully chocolate. It's rich in dark chocolate, and just so yummy.

Salted caramel ice cream as companion can counter the chocolate shwrbet (which can be overwhelming after a few mouthful)

They do have pretty exotic flavors. Their mystery flavor is roasted garlic! I can't imagine havig a cup of garlic, even in forms of ice cream.

Their chrysanthemum is pretty refreshing, and the staff did mention that it is made with home cooked chrysanthemum tea, so it would not be that sweet.

Each of their size can have a choice of two flavors. And despite the small-looking cup, the staff do fill it up to the brim. Worth the money spent. Take home pack are available for 12 dollars too.

Remember your student benefits too!

Best Ice Cream Joint
Smile 2013-04-19 (Related Review)

So far still the best ice cream shop compared to udders, scoopz, marble slab, etc, considering the flavours available and the price charged. Smallest size at $3.40 for 2 different flavours; they constantly come up with new flavours for customers to try, even had a 'mystery' flavour. If you happen to go during weekdays from 3-5pm, for every waffle, there will be a free scoop of ice cream; very good a deal. Milk ice cream has almond bits in it, and granny's favourite has cookie dough, both are highly recommended

Two thums up for the Salted Caramel
Smile 2013-04-18
After having Thai food for dinner, my tongue was burning with all the spicy dishes my friends and I ordered. Thankfully, there was an ice cream shop beside the Thai restaurant. So, that was our next stop for some dessert-- Tom's Palette.

I tried a lot of flavours before I settled on the Salted Caramel. Price was quite reasonable and the scooper was quite generous with what they put in my cup. OMG. It was so creamy and good. I enjoyed it down to the last spoonful of ice cream. =D I can't wait to come back and try the other flavours.

What the fudge?!
Smile 2013-04-16
Tom palette was Singapore's creation ice cream that had the same standard as many branded ice cream, yet it is cheap! Well, the staff was very friendly ( i forget to ask for his name, but he was a malay), I had requested to tried all the flavours and he had introduced me one by one with patient. *GOOD SERVICE* (My cheapo friend was telling me to try all the flavours and run away, haha.) So in the end, order what the fudge and goes with chocolate sorbet which is recommended by the staff. The appearance doesn't look attractive but the taste was FANTASTIC! I love the table there it was full of pictures are many feel so home-like and heart warming. *thumb up*
PS: there is 10% discount for poly student!

Favorite of all times!
Smile 2013-04-09
The one and only ice cream place where i go for exotic flavors.

My very first scoop with them was a lavender and kang kong flavor, which i think this is a long time ago, when they were just in a tiny shop with no website yet.

People will think that this flavor is a little off, but it was well made. And my second scoop with them was a seasonal flavor, Candy Cane. I think that was the name. Most shop parlors do it overdosed with peppermint flavor, which it will not taste refreshing but rather like drinking the peppermint oil. But again, Tom's manage to bring out the peppermint flavor and added candy canes to it, which compliment the flavor.

And the best part is, there is student discount!

1) Salted Egg Yolk Icecream & Salted Caramel Cheesecake Icecream - $3 (after student discount)
This might not be the best combination as both flavours are salty but the salted egg yolk icecream is really awesome!

Earl Grey & Pink Guava
Smile 2013-04-05
I'm quite crazy and particular about ice cream.
Don't really like the super sweet type or those offered at those mom and pop stores near the bus stops or under the HDB flat.

Anderson's and Ben & Jerry's are also not my cup of tea.

I prefer Haagen Dazs and those home-made or freshly made ice creams.

I heard of Tom's Palette from an article I read that mentioned how there were unique flavors offered there. The few times I went there, there were always different and special flavors. During the Chinese New Year period, they even had seasonal flavors like Red Dates or Lotus..

What made me want to go there was that they offered Tea flavors. In the picture provided, I chose a Earl Grey Tea and Pink Guava combo. The staff there was spectacular and patient for everyone who wants to try flavors and they understand that there's a lot of flavors to choose from. They are also very generous and really pack the icecream in the size that you choose. It's great that with a small at $3.20 you can get plenty of icecream. It is relatively sweet though, so you may want to choose flavors that compliment one another.

Tom’s Palette Ice Cream
Smile 2013-04-04
Feel free to visit my site review here: http://thedessertprince.com/toms-palette-ice-cream/

Ice creams are one of the best things in life. Although they only come in one shape, they do come in all sort of flavours you can ever imagine and at Tom’s Palette, they just outdo the possibilities every now and then. Some are just awesome like Earl Grey and Yuzu while some are just weird. Anyone willing to try Salted Egg flavour? See what I mean? For your info, I did had a sample once and I still don’t quite like it. Well, at least you can’t fault me for not trying!

Flavours are always on a rotational basis so as a rule of thumb, I always sample a few new flavours before buying since you never know you might fall in love with a new taste. Indeed the rich Hazelnut Latte with a hinge of bittersweet coffee aftertaste and the creamy white Coconut are now on my list of favourite scoops!

Don’t hesitate trying a scoop of Melt & Sizzle which is one of the more nostalgic taste that the ice cream parlour has to offer. I have never get drunk on alcoholic ice creams but if you want that pack a punch, feel awed by licking the strong liquor of your spoon with Rum & Raisins! It’s a must-have flavour for my friend whenever he’s chilling at the shop.

Tom’s Palette is one of my favourite ice cream parlours in Singapore. It’s a must go place especially if you’re teen checking out affordable places to hang out with your friends. If you’re a student of selected tertiary institutions, you can enjoy a 10% off your ice creams! But it’s just not fair that this entitlement isn’t extended to NYP students. What a bummer and I can only wonder why…

ICE CREAM!
Smile 2013-04-03
Writing food reviews or reviewing the ice cream standard on Tom's Palette is nothing new to most foodie or Openricer but I would still love to comment on it as 1stly, there are plenty different flavours of ice-cream, 2ndly, taste and choice of ice-cream depends very much on individual, 3rdly, this is my 1st visit after hearing so much about Tom's Palette and I've been wanting to try their creation since ages ago....

Since the next day is Good Friday and 1 happened to be in the vicinity while church visiting, I decided to check out this ice-cream parlour with my friend.

From far, I see a group of young students gathering in front of the fridge...Wow, seems like the place is packed on eve of public holiday. Despite the huge crowd in front, the friendly service staff greeted us warmly and introducing on their new flavours. they are super friendly and offer to let us sample some ice-cream even though we did not request for. I'm impressed by the way the staff are being train and they do know how to handle customers and introduce the flavours accordingly to customer's preference.

My friend tried the chocolate sorbet and before she can express her dislike on it, the service staff ask her is it because she prefers a creamery choice hence finds the dark chocolate sorbet too dry for her liking? True enough, my friend felt the same way and was offered to try chocolate banana.

My selection: Mocha Macnut & Chocolate Sorbet
Friend's selection: Salted Egg & Chocolate Banana

I'm a coffee and and dark chocolate lover hence the ice-cream which I've chosen are suits my taste perfectly. Dark chocolate are isn't too dry and they mild sweet...guess the % isn't that high. Mocha Macnut is well blended whereby it's not too overwhelming with coffee taste & I can still taste the fragrant of oily macadamia nuts. smile

Salted Egg shockedshockedshocked my 1st time tasting salty ice-cream! Isn't ice-cream supposed to be sweet?! And of all flavours... salted egg? the though of it reminds me of eating Teochew porridge! Lolz...But to my surprise, it taste GREAT! Simple fantastic..throw away the thoughts of real salty egg yolk as it TOTALLY doesn't have the flaky oily egg yolk nor super salty egg white taste. In fact, it's a well blended creamy yolk taste with a mild saltiness minus away the egg stink smell! Great!

Besides the great taste, friend service staff, another factor which i like is the REASONABLE PRICE. Considered cheap as compared to other artisan ice-cream. Less that $$ and i get to eat 2 different flavours. What's more, polytechnics and universities students gets additional 10%! smile

Favourite Ice Cream Place!
Smile 2013-04-01
Absolutely love this place. I would definitely have ice cream after eating at Ah Loy Thai (another awesome thai food place opposite Tom's Palette). Reasonably priced, Tom's Palette offers student discount as well. They have lots of flavours which are different daily, and they continually come up with new creations. I have tried many flavours and my all time favourite would still be GRANNY'S FAVOURITE. also delicious: Yuzu, the flavour with poppin' candy, milk ice cream, and so on.

My umpteenth time here, still loving it.
Smile 2013-03-24
Tom's Palette is still my favourite ice-cream palour after trying other ice-cream shops like Udders and Daily Scoop! It's definitely cheaper than the rest ($3.40 for a small cup of two flavours and if you have a student card from Poly/Uni you get 10% off the whole receipt). They have gotten much more adventurous than before, trying strange flavours like Candy Crush and Lavender!

The Misses: Candy Crush was really disgusting, I must say. Please try the flavours that you intend to order before you order it in a full cup. I tried a little bit of Candy Crush and nearly turned diabetic on the spot. Mystery flavour was butter(scotch?) and also made me shrivel a little inside. Literal expression: :S The Salted Eggyolk was also a little lackluster today.

The Usual Favourites: Granny's Favourite, Black Sesame, Vanilla Creme, Yuzu, Blueberry Cheesecake.

(Black Sesame + Vanilla Creme - a good combi to mix)

Go ahead and try the flavours before ordering them! Have fun, I did!

As usual, excellent service with a smile despite the crowd.

Food

Tom's Palette. This place needs no more introduction. I ordered a large cup, with salted egg yolk and blueberry cheesecake. As usual the salted egg yolk didnt disappoint. Nice, light and flavorful, yet no overpowering taste of salted eggs. The ice cream was more like extra smooth tau sar, giving it a unique texture, different from the usual creamy ones. With the first mouth, i can taste the slight salt-ish tinge, coupled with rich flavor you would only associated with two breakfast half boiled eggs.

Service
The service as usual is friendly, greeted with smiles from the staff. They let you try out new favours on ice cream sticks with a smile. Just make a little request to them.

Ambience
The place has a friendly, bubbly ambience. A place you would share a chat with friends, or bring your date to relax and enjoy a dessert.

Price
The price is reasonable, comparable with other ice cream joints.

Recommendations / Tips
Salted egg yolk is my all time favourite.

Variety of Ice cream :)
Smile 2013-03-02
small cup is $3.20. medium, $4. all can use 2 flavours. Most poly and university students can get 10% discount, is a very good deal. moreover, this is the only outlet in singapore, making its ice cream unique smile furthermore, it is located quite central, hence everyone at any parts of singapore can come to the place conveniently in terms of distance. We get to try the flavours before deciding what we want to eat. Flavours include salted caramel cheese, chocolate sorbet (very chocolatey - suited for chocolate lovers), granny's favourite, crushed by candy and pumpkin. All unique flavours, which cant be found in other ice cream shops. and tom's palette tends to create new flavours and improve their flavours.

Nice and affordable ice cream!!

Ah i love the ice cream here!
To view a detailed review with more photos, do drop by:
http://chiamhuiy.blogspot.com/2012/12/toms-palette-ice-cream-review.html

If you want something special, you have to visit tom's palette because they have their unique flavours which they created themselves!

Tom's Palette has been popular amongst youngsters and university students, especially SMU students because it's located pretty near the school. Our school's skating team will occasionally skate here for dessert right after our dinner on skates.

What I love about Tom's Palette is none other than their creative flavours which they make the effort to produce a new flavour every month! So it means if you come every month, you'll get to try out their new invention! Kindly ask the staff to let you try their popular flavours too! They will be happy to do it.

Not sure if they offer exotic flavours like durian, but they do offer certain tea-flavoured ice cream! One of their popular flavours is the Salted Caramel CheeseCake. It was quite nice but it's a little too salty for me, hence I didn't choose it.

What's more attractive is, besides their cheaper than usual prices, they offer 10% discounts to some schools as well! So a medium sized cup becomes only $3.60 after discount! Which is considered cheap compared to... say udders?

Granny's Favourites - Molten chocolate with cookie dough in a slight chocolatey taste chocolate ice cream

Milk Ice Cream - Roasted Almonds coated with chocolate in the milk ice cream, with one of the main ingredients to be none other than... milk powder!

This is surely a good place for you to come with your friends if you have no where else to go after gaming, shopping etc etc. If your feet are tired, give them a break and come to Tom's Palette for a cup of ice cream and chill out with your friends! Usually, you can stay here for up to 1/2 - 1 hour if there isn't a lot of people! Just like any other ice cream parlors.

What is worth the recommendation is none other than their affordable price for all the students out there. They offer milkshakes and fruit ice blended as well, if you are thirsty!

For the ambience, I would say it's a little bustling but that's all we usually see in an ice cream parlor, isn't it? It's just because of such environment which is appropriate for a friends gathering because you can laugh all you can with your friends with no fear of disrupting the quietness, if any. The place is air-conditioned as well, with plenty of seats available.
