This combo set costs $5.80. In it, there's rice, seaweed, meatballs, pork stick and chicken stick. The gravy was rich in flavour and went well with the wonderful short-grained japanese rice and seaweed. The pork was a tad tough but chicken was quite tender even though it was a little salty. It's a quick fix for a rather decent lunch continue reading

There was a takeaway Tori Q kiosk opened at Jem basement. I had bought some yakitori chicken and pork with rice. The yakitori chicken though grilled by machine was good. The chicken meat was tender and smooth. The yakitori pork belly was good too. The pork meat was very fatty but there was slight chewiness and dryness. The deep fried quail eggs was also grilled in the machine. The skin was chewy and the egg inside was not over cooked.I liked the special soya sauce they put on the meat and rice, it was more sweet and savoury.   continue reading

Known for its delicious grilled skewers and by words of mouth from my colleague, I heard that JEM has something yummy. I wanted to share this happiness and bought some and try. Queues were expected and I was prepared. While waiting, I observed the movements of the kitchen. The helpers are busying piercing the meat into the stick and barbequing them. Once the meat is cooked, there are placed onto this automated machine and coated with the sauce. These are the availables yaki through the glass shelves.I have bought a total of 6 sticks, packed into a disposable box and comes with a ToriQ Plastic bag.The total price spent on the ToriQ.Pork Balls, coated with sweet sauce is rather soft and chewy. Yum Yum!Cost: S$1.50. Asparagus wrapped in bacon costs S$2.20 per stick. Comes in 3 per stick, cripsy on the outer layer with juicy asparagus. It was so juicy that one has to be careful while biting on the asparagus as the sauce will burst out. It will be better to finish the whole piece of asparagus in one mouth.Arabiki Sausage S$1.60, well grilled and stands out own throughout all skewers displayed in the cabinet.Chicken stick is well marinated and grilled to a perfection with a little burnt taste. Great snack!Cost: S$1.10 continue reading
