Went there to celebrate a friend’s birthday. I found the menu slightly different from the other mid-price ranged Japanese restaurants in Singapore. For one, I got to try this miso marinated fish which was being grilled on a special leaf…it was FANTASTIC! The taste was so unami and the flavour of the miso was strong. The udon portions are big and truly hit the spot especially if you’re hungry! Their dry cold soba was a hit with the group too!

Katsu Curry Udon
Smile 2012-08-20

Ordered this Katsu Curry Udon at Waraku today, for $15.90++. Prices have been adjusted up since the last time I was here.

What I like about this curry udon is the huge portion of udon and pork cutlet. The pork cutlet feels really solid, but since the fried pork cutlet is left soaking in the curry, the pork cutlet isn't crunchy or crispy when eating it. Maybe they should have left it on a plate or something. Another of my favourite is the curry. The curry very fragrant, and not spicy at all, so it's a good way to enjoy curry without feeling the heat.

Recommended dish to try at Waraku!

If you are searching for a place for nice japanese food, waraku may be the place u be looking for! A group of 3 of us came. I'm especially easily attracted by anything looking attractive and amazing. And this Waraku dessert successfully lured me in the restaurant. They have also variety of pasta that cater to different taste bud. However, it is not really the most delicious pasta. Beside that, they have thin crust pizza as well. The only sad thing is they have not much dessert to choose from.

Waraku - Dinner
Smile 2012-05-04

Had a lovely window seat, with great view of the Singapore River. Menu is pretty extensive and we had a feast!! I had the Waraku Tsukemen ramen. The presentation of the ramen was pretty interesting. Ramen was served separate from the soup stock. The soup was bubbling hot when it arrived, the stone in the soup stock, which kept the soup base bubbling hot. Pork slice was tender and well-flavored. Egg was half-cooked, authentic Japanese ramen.

Sushi
Smile 2012-04-29

I am a sushi fan and I am happy that I am able to find quality sushi here at Waraku. The Japanese rice used in making the sushi is fragrant and soft. The egg omelette topped on the sushi is soft and compact. the japanese cucumbers are crunchy and the imitation crabstick are sweet and fresh. Love the seaweed that are wrap in the center of it that give that added vegetable flavour to it. One mouth of it make you feel like flying up into the sky. The presentation is stylish and also not overly crowded with too many garnishes. An impressive finger food that I will be back for more.

Japanese Curry
Smile 2012-03-29
I rather fancy Waraku’s Japanese curry chicken cutlet, so much so that I would prefer this to Sushi Tei’s. The portion may look smaller, but they are actually the same. The curry is thick, a little sweet. The rice is soft but not fragrant, nothing much but a good mix with the curry. The chicken cutlet is really crispy! It was served hot and I love how the chicken is so thick.

No.37
Smile 2012-02-20

I ordered No.37 which is really nice, it has scallop and potatoes in the spagetti and the sauce that they use is extremely nice!!! i think is a combination of the ebiko with something else, it's sweet and goes really well with the spagetti. There's also the butter mushroom side dish and the potato cheese, I prefer the butter mushroom though! And the price is just nice, except that the waitress took a long time before coming to bring us to our seats. But I would like to go there again!

   Ebi cheese curry udon

My friend and I were walking around central to find a place for dinner and so we decided to settle down at Waraku japanese casual dining as the menu looks really interesting.

It's the first time both my friend and I tried waraku thus I've decided to order something that I usually don't order in a japanese restaurant, ebi cheese curry udon. My food was served in less than ten minutes despite the crowd and I was apalled by the gigantic bowl which was bigger than my face! The cheese was sprinkled above the thick curry soup base which you can mix it on your own. Ebi (prawn) are really fresh and crunchy. Udon was well mixed with the curry soup base. Overall, the portion was just alright for a dinner.

Ambience and service were up to standard for a busy saturday night!

unique ramen soup base
Smile 2011-10-30
my first time notice that there is actually new soup base call chige at waraku, which is actually using kimchi. I was quite surprised because it wasnt the typical soup base that I tried but to my amazement, the soup taste not too bad especially for a non-kimchi eater like myself. but the soup tend to be quite spicy so didnt drink most of the soup. the ramen noodle itself was quite ok so the overall nice thing is just the soup base. but i guess is good to try at least once since is something new =)

Waraku Japanese Restaurant
Smile 2011-09-22
After quite sometime, I finally met up with some of my Secondary Schoolmates. I am delirously with joy and suggested to have our dinner at Waraku Japanese Restaurant in Clark quay. All of them agreed unanimously as none of them has been there before to eat shocked
We proceeded our way to the restaurant and had sometime in finding it, as we were not so familiar with this shopping centre; ' The Central'. We were all given menu from the waitress after we got a seat right inside the resaurant. The menu was pretty extensive, but all of us ordered either their ramen or udon.
I ordered the chicken curry udon and their presentation really shocked me. A 'GIANT' bowl was served right in front of me with a bigger spoon. I felt that I am living in a 'GIANT WORLD' lol When I first tasted it, I felt nothing. However, the more I eat ,the more I love it. Their udon texture was marvellous and sponginess. Although the bowl was served in large size, they provided us with just the right proportion for 1 person stomach to fill in.
The chicken was chewy and it blended well with the curry (THUMBS UP!) smile And of course, the curry sauce was thick and yummy. I would suggest individual who was fancied about 'CURRY' to try it. I finished up everything that was in my bowl, YUMMY!
However, as for the cream udon it would be a little difficulty in finishing it alone. The sauce was too creamy and it will be hard to really ate it all. lol All the food served to us was excellent. Perhaphs, next time we will be back to try out their side dishes like Grilled butter scallop, Grilled squid, Tofu, Sushi and more. tongue

Curry udon
Smile 2011-07-02

I love japanese curry and usually orders japanese curry rice bowl when i'm at japanese restaurants. This time however, i decided to try out their curry noodles, and ordered the aburi chicken curry udon.

I loved the curry, as it is slightly sweet and spicy (catered to our tastes i guess, since traditional japanese curry is sweet). The use of udon in this dish was a unique combination, although i would have preferred rice instead. The chicken was thick and juicy, although a bit tough.

Overall, a nice dish to try out.

Just OK 2011-03-08
I had beef hot plate set! It comes with tempura, egg, salmon sashimi, a hot plate of beef and a bowl of rice. Authentic Japanese eating, we are suppose to dip the beef into the egg and eat it right after but i do it the other way. Pouring the entire egg into the hot plate. The thin slice of beef is fresh and soft. Pretty easy to chew and swallow. Sashimi is fresh too. Tempura is hot and crispy. Kinda normal.. All in all, not too bad!
