Nestled at the far end of Singapore - at Punggol Waterway is a cafe by the river known as Whisk and Paddle. The cafe has expanse of space as well as the luxury of the gorgeous views of the waterway - ponds and lush greenery - all forming part of the natural backdrop. By day or night, it makes chilling out here a pleasant experienceThe Black Sesame Latte (SGD$5.50) was milky, frothy and rich in black sesame's distinctive flavour, a little ashy, yet sweet and thick. It is the kind of acquired flavour you'd either hate or love immensely. For desserts, we chose the Tropical Brûlée (SGD$13.80) - made up of half a chocolate waffle, banana brûlée, crème caramel, almond flakes and chocolate sauce. The presentation was pretty and indulgent; the ingredients rich and appetising. The crispy waffles were rich in chocolate's taste, paired perfectly with the smooth caramel crème or crackling-coated bananas. This waffle was so delicious and filling, one could have it as a meal!Next, Cheesecake with Berries Compote (SGD$6.00) - a decadent slice of New York cheesecake on crumbly base with sweet strawberry compote. The cheesecake was prettily decorated with blueberries; taste was velvety, creamy and cheesey without being overpowering, melting easily on the mouth like a good dream. For full review and more detailed information, please feel free to visit:http://thearcticstar.blogspot.sg/2016/01/tea-break-at-whisk-paddle-punggol.html continue reading

The cafe was situated way inside a secluded area, beside a river. Have to walk all the way towards the back after alighting from Riveria LRT.The waiter promptly showed us our table and we ordered the duck and lychee pizza and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese scored under my expectation due to the high expectation gained from all the blog reviews. The duck and lychee pizza turn out to be suprising good as my friend was initially worried about the weird combination. Blessing in disguise!Had Tropical Brulee from the dessert selection! It turns out to be a mix and match platter where they have 1/2 chocolate waffles, ice cream, caramelized banana and panna cotta. Dessert was passable, probably need to come out with more interesting combination or other speciality. continue reading

For the full review and more photos, head over to http://toroamtheworld.blogspot.com/2015/06/food-review-whisk-and-paddle.htmlA relaxing cafe with good food and a good view to boot, even better if you come in the evenings. Spacious cafe grounds adds to the ambience too!We came on a weekend evening and the weather was perfect for alfresco/outdoor dining! Especially given that they are situated right beside the park connector and Punggol Reservoir.Mac and Cheese ($12.80++): Very tasty and cheesy, but was not that overwhelming to make me feel jelat.Carbonara ($13.80++): This was ordinary, nothing much to rave about. But note that this is the less creamy and soupy version, aka the traditional Italian one.Eggs Benedict with Honey Baked Ham ($13++): The eggs were a disappointment because it was overcooked and the yolks didn't flow. But the waffles stole the show instead with its light and crispy texture! continue reading

Address:10 Tebing Lane, 8288366242 4617Nearest MRT Stationunggol MRT Station, Riveria LRT StationWhat they are famous for:All day breakfast, Mac & CheeseOpening hours:Mondays - Fridays: 3:30 - 10:30pmSaturdays, Sundays, PH: 9:30am - 10:30pmAtmosphere: 9/10Price: 8/10Food: 7/10Service: 6/10Interior Outdoor seating MenuWe had:Lychee Mint Cooler - $6.90(With fresh mint leaves and lychee)A refreshing drink for a scorching afternoon! I loved how the mint leaves added an extra kick to the cooler. Pomegranate Wild Berries Italian Soda - $5.50I would have preferred the Lychee cooler to this drink! It wasn't immensely sweet or anything, just that I felt that the flavors weren't to my liking. Still, when it comes to drinks, it's rather subjective so why not order this and try if you're a fan of pomegranate! Chunky Fries - $10.80(Choice of Truffle Mayo / Masala / Bacon)Saw "Truffle Mayo" and we knew we had to order this, especially since we can never say no to chunky fries! Definitely did not disappoint! Whisk Breakfast Plate - $16.80(Croissant, Scrambled eggs, Back bacon, Chicken cheese sausage, Roasted cherry vine tomatoes, Sauteed mushrooms, Mashed Potatoes, Yogurt with fruits)When it comes to the pricing of food at Whisk & Paddle, I must say that they're pretty reasonable. For just $16,80, we got more than we could ask for! I especially loved the cheese sausage, scrambled eggs as well as the croissant! The scrambled eggs were really creamy, and cooked just right to my liking. Thumbs up to the mash potato too! I certainly did not expect it to turn out that good! Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon - $13(Poached eggs with Hollandaise sauce on Waffles)Poached eggs on waffles - well that's something new! The perfectly poached eggs were served on buttermilk waffles with generous slices of smoked salmon. One down side to the dish was that I got sick of the hollandaise sauce after a while - it was a tad creamy for my liking. Passionfruit Tart - $7Whisk and paddle is also known for their pretty and delectable desserts! The tartness of the passionfruit curd was just right, and wow, the macaroon topped on it just sealed the deal. Atmosphereefinitely a great place to chill, especially since it's located next to Punggol Waterfront Park. You get to admire the beautiful scenery and enjoy your meal at the same time. The cafe is reaaally spacious as well, so it's perfect for group gatherings!Service:The staff at Whisk and Paddle were attentive to our every need. However, my eggs benny took incredibly long to be served (I think I waited for more than 30mins).Hope this helped!Toodles! continue reading

For more details, please visit http://www.foodesteem.com/2015/04/whisk-paddle.htmlOpened for a couple of months already, Whisk & Paddle is a cafe that is situated alongside the Punggol Promenade Riverside Walk. Instead of the air-conditioned cafe that most would prefer to have, Whisk & Paddle would rather diners to have a taste of their food as well as a sniff of the nature.Whisk & Paddle's menu is more of an American-style type of food, ranging from brunches to pastas and to pizzas. If you are looking for Nasi Lemak or Economical Bee Hoon, you might want to consider trying the coffee house opposite the LRT track.Homemade Iced Tea - Passionfruit Lime Lychee ($6.90), and Mango Peach Smoothie ($7.90). If I were to make the choice again between these two, I would choose the former as it is sweeter than the Mango Peach Smoothie. The latter taste quite bland, although the light mango taste managed to linger in my mouth for a few seconds.Wedges with Cheese Dip ($8.80). Had this ordered to satisfy my craving for thick and creamy cheese. I didn't had any expectations when it came, but "ta-dah~", I happily cleaned up the every wedges available and coated it well with the cheese! Wedges seems to be home-sliced, and every wedges comes full of potato fillings in it. Kids are sure to love this!Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon ($13.00). Something out of the norm, Whisk & Paddle replaced the usual English Muffins with waffles and it is still as yummy, except that it comes along with the sweet waffle taste. Poached eggs are prepared well, and we are very satisfied with the oozing egg yolk flowing on to the waffles. Eggy-waffles anyone? You also have the option to opt for either honey baked ham or sautéed mushrooms if you want something more than just smoked salmon.Ham & Pineapple Pizza ($16.80). For the price, the pizza is sliced into 9 unequal pieces, and the entire pizza is probably meant for sharing among 2 pax. IT consists of honey baked ham, bacon, pineapple, bell pepper, sunny side up and bbq sauce. Oh wait... sunny side up on a pizza? For more details, please visit http://www.foodesteem.com/2015/04/whisk-paddle.html continue reading
