Talk about riverside dining... we could never get close enough at Boat / Clarke / Robertson Quay, but here at Punggol Park, one could literally sit by the waters, smell it, and dine by it. That was also one of the reasons that The Beau and I chose to dine at Wild Oats Restaurant. We chose al fresco dining, sitting outdoors and by the river - what a romantic and beautiful idea. The sheltered structure ensured that even if it was raining, we would still be able to dine in peace without due disturbances. Here we overlooked the lights of buildings opposite, as well as see the reflections of the lit buildings clearly in the waters - and sat perched at the edge of the pond.We started with a Luncheon Meat Fries, served with Kaffe Lime Leaf mayonnaise. For luncheon meat lovers, this crispy delicacy is something that you would enjoy - strips of deep fried processed pork meat without any hints of fattiness, and went well with the citrusy creamy mayo sauce. It got a tad salty for us after a while though.I had the Sarawak Chicken Curry Shepherd Pie - a delicious, thick curry blended into a baked dish topped with cheese atop. The curry was piping hot and somewhat spicy, with slices of tender chicken. It was delicious no doubt, an interesting fusion of traditional Asian and Western dishes. The sticky baked dish would have been perfect without the fatty meats and skin though - there was quite a fair bit of that and I had to keep fishing them out. Constant trepidation of trying to prevent biting into a piece of chicken skin has reduced the enjoyment of this dish significantly. The Beau had the Creamy Mushroom Pasta - a pool of creamy delicacy encompassing springy (slightly on the hard side, the way I like it) spaghetti strands, and generous portions of shittake mushrooms. Needless to explain the unique, rich flavor of luscious shiitake flavor and chewy texture - this goes very well with the pasta drenched in rich cream sauce. For more detailed information and photos, please feel free to visit:http://thearcticstar.blogspot.sg/2014/09/dinner-at-wild-oats-restaurant-punggol.html continue reading

This is a restaurant not to be missed in Singapore, nowadays, there are not many restaurants which serve good food found along parks in Singapore so Wild Oats is one restaurant you all should visit. They serve mainly western food of wide ranges. For the main, two of the food which are quite interesting are the aglio olio and the beef burger. For the aglio olio, the dish was cooked just around perfection, neither too dry nor too wet and the meat used for the burger is very tender and juicy. Another main dish you all may want to try is the fish and chips, the fish is fried in a way that the flour and meat are in proportion which do not allow the flour to be more than the meat making the crumbs of the fish very thick. continue reading

Click http://www.dairycream.blogspot.sg/2013/04/wild-oats-punggol-park.html For Full Review and Pictures! Many restaurants or cafes have sprouted in our local parks within last few years and one of them is Wild Oats. For appetizers, the Otah Bruschetta $5.70 did not impress as it was just Otah paste smeared onto half-toasted white bread and so was the "You Tiao and Tao Pok" $4.50 shown below as the rojak sauce was meagre despite having asked for extra sauce. Would have thought that the chef's "deadly chilli sauce" for the Golden Chicken Wings ($7.50) would be a spicy killer but it was like mild Hainanese chilli sauce. The well-seasoned wings were crispy and tender, which can be independent from the sauce. For the mains, the Pan Fried Salmon (with mash) draped with creamy garlic sauce $14.90 fared better than the Sambal Balachan Fish Fillet (served with butter rice and coleslaw) $14.20 because the salmon was truly well cooked such that the juices were retained and slightly salted skin was crisp. For the latter, the sambal was neither fragrant nor fierySurprisingly, the Mama's Special Dog served with Mama's Secret Tomatoey Onions $10.80 was tasty and delicious. Though I can't figure what is so mysterious about this sauce or who Mama is but the combination of sausage, melted cheese, onions stuffed into a not-soggy bun was satisfyingly savoury and tangy that qualified as a comfort food.Compared to the food I had at Wild Rocket@Emily Hill and Relish, the quality on the whole did not really match my expectations. Perhaps it might be better to venture out of the park for the nearby hawker centers unless you got lost in the park and is really starving. No service charge or GST but service was prompt and attentive.Full Review : http://www.dairycream.blogspot.sg continue reading

We made reservations for the eve before National Day. Was late, but encountered no problems in pushing back the reservation time. Carpark space was scarce, so depends on your luck. Arrived at 8pm (original reservation time was 730pm), and there were many unoccupied tables. It was pretty hard to get someone over to take our order. The service staff seemed to be quite focused on their task at hand...So, you just got to wave harder... Mushroom soup tasted quite healthy (maybe deemed as a little too bland for somebody). Not as thick as some other places but retained the nice wholesome flavor of mushroom continue reading

So I was very anxious to visit the new place at Punggol Park, living across the road we certainly enjoyed the last place as it was a nice place to have dinner looking over the water or simply drinks with friends. So we finally ventured to Wild Oats that recently opened. I liked the way that they had changed the place and make it more of an "outdoors" feel. They have seperated the areas so the deck over the water is for diners and the rest is for snacks & drinks.I have to say that there is not a lot to choose from but thought we would give it a go. I order the Lemon Chicken & my wife ordered Pork Chop with Sweet & sour sauce. Her meal came out rather quick yet she was almost finished before my order came out. And to be honest we were very disappointed. When I heard there was a new place opening I went online to check it out and saw all the comments of the other places, so we were very excited about one of these was moving to Hougang, but we left last night feeling very disappointed. The food wasn't bad, but it was something that you could get at a western food stall in a local food court. I know it is new and the staff were friendly but when two people order their meals one would expect that they came out close together if not at the same time.... it is not as if they were difficult, both were fried...... also the "salad" was basically shredded lettuce and I think cabbage with a dollop of gravy, and a scoop of lukewarm rice. The sauces were very scarce and for both meals there wasn't enough to even cover the meat.Again I want to mention the food was not bad, it was what I would consider to be average foodcourt western food. Would we go back, I am reserved I think given we live close we would probably go back but I don't think we would have a meal there, I think the next time may just be for a drink or maybe try one of the items on the snack menu. Although the spirits seemed a little on the light side so stick to the beer and wine.Mr Willin Low, I read earlier that many people questioned the idea of opening in Hougang, it certainly has the potential but based on what we experienced it may be a limited future as a restaurant and end up a bar only... continue reading
