mochi breads
Smile 6 days ago

Once again I found myself back at Yamazaki. My family and I loved the breads that we had gotten there the other time, hence I went there again last week since I was at Jcube. I bought the mini mochi breads which I had wanted to buy last time but didn't. The bundle price for 5 of these breads is $2.95, so it is better to get them in groups of 5. The flavours pictured are green tea, chocolate, cheese and I am not sure about the pink one. The mochi bread has quite a unique taste which I think not everyone will appreciate as our family is split on the taste. Of the lot, I enjoyed the chocholate mochi bread most as there are bits of chocolate chips in them. Similarly for the green tea mochi bread, there are red beans in it, so these two wins my votes. Do give it a try if you havent tried it before as it is quite unique.

Mochi
Smile 2013-04-20

I thought it is good for a bakery to list its top selling items so that first timers have an idea of what breads to get if everything looks nice. This mochi is one of their best sellers, which largely prompted me to get it even with the steep price of $1.40. The mochi have the same fillings of red bean, just that the mochi skin has different colours (green, white and pink). The red bean filling still has some red bean bits in it, it is not entirely puree until a paste, but even so, the filling is very smooth and delicious. It is not too sweet as well. The mochi skin is also soft and chewy and it really complements the red bean paste very well. For the price of $1.40, I would say it is worth it, because it is really top grade in my opinion.

Nice fruit tart
Just OK 2013-01-17

Took away a Strawberry Fruit Tart one evening after dinner as i was drawn to the fresh pump looking strawberries.
The tart is not too thick and has a layer of chocolate coating inside. Topping includes a soft sponge cake and custard, followed by the Big Juicy Sweet strawberries. Lastly, it was glaze with a layer of gelatine and sprinkle of almond flakes surrounding the side.

Try it to see and taste how different this tart is from other competitors. tongue

cakes galore
Smile 2013-01-09

Bought these few last minute cake slices for my mom's birthday as we went out for her birthday dinner spontaneously!

There is peach, strawberries and kiwi ontop of the fruit cake. A tad sour for me! I guess it depends on your luck to get the sweet ones. The almond flakes at the side added a nice touch to the soft sponge-like texture of the cake! The cream was quite rich as well. I scrapped it off as i felt it was too much.

I prefer the chocolate cake if i had to choose between the two. The chocolate cake had a small piece of white chocolate ontop and is decorated by 2 strawberries. These were a little more sweet than the ones on the fruit cake. The chocolate taste was very rich and it smelt quite aromatic too! It was very soft too.

chocolate cake

Fruit Cake
Smile 2012-07-30

This lovely fruit cake from this Japanese Bakery shop has really caught my attention on its beautiful design. Have bought back to share with my family members and they all fully agreed this is very delicious. The cake sponge is very light and soft and with the light fragrant of butter in it. The sliced fruits are all very fresh and juicy. Love those generous amount of crunchy slice almond topped at the side of the cake which make it really crunchy and even more fragrant as well.

cream puff
Smile 2012-07-30

I bought the cream puff from yamazaki bakery to surprise my girlfriend. She really like cream puff but we both haven tried that of yamazaki’s. the staff packed the cream puff nicely into a box. The entire presentation was really good. the cream puff tasted really good in fact. the puff was very light and fluffy. The cream inside was whipped till very light. It has this light creamy fragrance. when you eat both the cream and the puff together, it is absolute bliss.

very small and cute
Smile 2012-07-28 (Related Review)

my friend recommended me yamazaki bakery, she was gushing about how nice their baked mochi is and insisted I try it. I found it kind of expensive for something so small but I still bought two different flavours to try. I like the cheese flavor one better. This baked mochi does taste different from all the pastry or snacks I have ever taste. It was pretty cute, bite size only. I finish one baked mochi in two mouths.

Mini Coffee Bun
Smile 2012-07-24

I like bread from Japanese bakery as they are soft and tender. This particular bakery has a good selection of bread. And I like the idea of the mini sized buns. It gave me the opportunity to try more flavour before filling up my stomach. It has a promotion price of 5 buns for $2.95.

This particular bun was bigger than the normal mini bun. The coffee taste was not very strong but I liked the sugar coated on the surface. Very yummy.smile

Cream Puffs
Smile 2012-07-23

This confectionary shop has one of the best cream puffs which I have ever tried before. Just by looking at its appearance, you can actually imagine how delicious this sweet pastry really is. The puff pastry is very light and fluffy and goes really well with the very generous amount of fresh whip cream topped in it. It is filling and definitely satisfying. At less than two dollars per piece, this is certainly consider quite affordable too.

japanese cheese curry doughnut
Smile 2012-07-12

I went to yamazaki boulangerie to buy their buns. They have a lot of unique buns, buns you just cannot find at normal bakery. i bought their cheese Japanese curry doughnut. Firstly, this is a doughnut, not a bun so the texture is different. The Japanese curry is not spicy at all, it is actually sweetish. The cheese is cut into cubes, taste a little sour and chewy. the entire bun is just so unique.

CAKES!
Smile 2012-07-03

My father bought these delicious looking cakes from yamazaki and I can't wait to try them! All of them looked so yummy and delicious. Since my father bought them, I did not know the flavours of each of the cake and hence I chose one at randomly. My first bite of the cake was just totally mind-blowing. The cake was very soft and it melted in my mouth. The flavour of the cake dispersed slowly in my palate and I tasted a light cheese flavour. The cheese flavour was not very intense and overwhelming. It was just right.

2 thumbs up! smile

Mix Fruits Slice Cake
Smile 2012-04-18

Went J Cube to shopping since is very new at Jurong East Area. Spotted this confectionary shop at their level one with lots of delicious and colourful breads, cakes and pastries displayed on their shelfing. Decided to try their colourful mix fruit sliced cakes as it looks really fresh and good. The sliced strawberry, kiwi and peach fruits on top of it are really sweet and juicy. The sponge cake is very soft and light and the vanilla fresh cream topped and in the centre of the cake are really fresh and not too sweet too. I have enjoyed this lovely fresh cream fruit cake and I believe you will feel the same too.
