Full review's at http://thehungrybunnie.blogspot.sg/2015/10/putien-kitchener-road.htmlThe mothership is purportedly the best of all the branches, and I agree. But taking into consideration the horrendous traffic and parking woes of this Kitchener Road original, I'd much rather head to the town-based branches. The secret to loving Putien's brand of humble, peasant fare lies with their awesome chilli sauce, which goes with just about everything. It's really where the magic is, and no wonder Putien now bottles this for sale in the open market. We had:1) Steamed Live Seabass ($39.20 for 800 gm at $4.90 per 100gm): done perfectly, with soft flaky flesh complemented by the delicate soy sauce.2) Homemade Beancurd ($9.90) with wobbly strips of silky beancurd, black mushrooms, sugar snap peas, and carrots, swimming in a sumptuous oyster sauce gravy: simple and comforting. A must-try here.3) Stewed Spinach in Superior Stock ($12.90) flecked with century and salted egg: mild and creamy.4) Seaweed with Beancurd and Crabmeat Thick Soup ($13.90): wonderfully nuanced and balanced.5) Fried Heng Hwa Bee Hoon ($8.90): infused with a collagen-rich stock of pork bone and old hens' bones, and dappled with clams, prawns, pork belly, beancurd, mushrooms, cabbage, kailan, and seaweed. Scrumptious with oodles of that awesome chilli sauce. A must-try.6) Mazu Mee Sua ($8.90) - done in the style of their lor mee, and simmered in a milky pork bone broth, with pork belly, clams and prawns, eggs, mushrooms, snow peas, seaweed, and peanuts: After growing up eating mee sua exclusively as 'sick-food', I much rather have the lor mee instead

I always come to this restaurant for family dinner once in a while because it's my most favourite place.I ordered some of my most favourite dishes like Putien Lor Mee.I absolutely loved the home made chilli sauce at Putien, with it's spicy, slightly sour tangy taste! The deep fried crispy pig's trotters 炸元蹄 with salt and pepper was cut into uniform blocks, which was not being experienced in other restaurant.Putien's famous Lor Mee originates from the Putien city in Fujian, China. The base of the gravy is made with pork stock, which is then delicately accented with clams, dried scallop, fried shrimps and mushrooms until the stock is infused with all the flavours. Tasty white coloured broth and noodles in delicious & heartwarming soup are must tries dish during each visit because it is a traditional Putian main course. This is totally different from Lor Mee in Singapore, which always served with a bowl of thick flat yellow noodles in a thick, dark and starchy soup with ingredients like fish cake, pork belly and hard boiled eggs.Steamed Soon Hock 清蒸笋壳鱼 - fresh! It was succulent and the sauce goes very well. The waitress told me that all of their food are directly import from China to ensure it's high quality. What particularly impressed me was that the delightful waitress attentively noted that we were regular customers and gave all diners like us a complimentary fruit platter before settling our bill.In the end, I paid $171.30 after receiving 20% OFF my total bill for one visit during my birthday month because they charged for their Starters Platter. Conclusion: Good food, Excellent & prompt service and affordable price.

Not only is their signature xin hua bee hoon is delicious here, I happen to try their mee sua as well and immediately fall in love with it. For less than $15, portion is generous and is good to fill up a person stomach. Mee sua is soft and too dry and filled with the nice frsgrant from the prawns, sliced mushrooms and seaweed cook in it. The sauce is thick and flavourful as well. Service was fast and friendly. People here are friendly too.

Came here for the Chinese New Year package as everywhere else is closed for the first 2 days of CNY. Generally great food in terms of taste and presentation. The waiter serving us was very enthusiastic and tended to our needs quickly. The menu was limited due to holidays so we had the cheapest package $488++ turns to $550 after discount and plus plus. Fish and seafood was good and my personal favorite is the fried chicken! Great taste and I was asking to more!Overall the price is acceptable since this was CNY and there wasn't much compromise in the taste.

This is the original flagship stall in Kitchener Road. Now Putien has opened quite a few restaurants in the neighbourhood so the xing hua cuisine is readily availabile for customers to experience. There are some signatuere dishes at Putien I must order whenever I visit the restaurantThe bamboo prawn soup. Uniquely served in a bamboo container. The soup is refreshing and comes with a herbal taste. The fried yam. Cut into small cube sizes it has a sweet caramalized outer layer that is very delectable to the palata.Lychee sweet and sour pork. My personal best sweet and sour pork in Singapore. A well balance and executed dish. Some call this the white lor mee. The Putien Lor Mee is a best try. I enjoyed eating it with a dash of vinegar.
