A-One Reinvents Bak Kut Teh

 A-One Bak Kut Teh
Everyone has heard of Bak Kut Teh, where pork ribs are simmered until tender in a peppery broth. A-One Bak Kut Teh , a sister company of A-One Claypot House , has given a new twist to this local favourite and created Singapore's first Claypot Bak Kut Teh Porridge. OpenRice was invited to host a tasting session with our members at Star Vista, which is A-One Bak Kut Teh's first outlet. Eight members got to try out eight dishes for this session, alongside a pot of Assorted Fruits and Flower Tea ($7.90). Click here to see individual member reviews and comments!

Singapore’s First Bak Kut Teh Porridge

Minced Meat with Meat Ball Porridge
The crowd favourite was the signature Bak Kut Teh Porridge ($10.90), made from an aromatic mix of spices, garlic, pepper and fresh pork ribs. The pork ribs were fresh and succulent while the porridge was well-cooked and flavourful, making it the perfect comfort food for a rainy day. The Minced Meat with Meat Ball Porridge (pictured above) is also a strong contender as the chewy meatballs complemented the peppery porridge perfectly.

Soups and Side Dishes

Other than claypot porridge, A One also offers a variety of soups such as Pork Ribs ($10.90) and Pig’s Organ ($9.90), with free soup refills. Other side dishes include Ampang Yong Tau Foo ($9.90/$14.90/$18.90), Braised Platter ($14.90), Assorted Vegetables in Sambal Sauce ($10.90) and Dry Bak Kut Teh Chicken Cubes ($12.90).
 Pig’s Organ Soup
With a soup base similar to the Pork Ribs Soup, the tasty Pig’s Organ Soup comprises of lean meat, liver, meat balls and intestines.
Dry Bak Kut Teh Chicken Cubes
A dish made up of dried chilli spices, lady fingers and cuttlefish, the Dry Bak Kut Teh Chicken Cubes reminded us of Kung Pao Chicken.
