An ORTU with a Twist @ Shi Fu Ge

Our OpenRicers have had the chance to "开饭" for free at the hippest, coolest eateries but this OpenRice Tasty Union (ORTU) at Shi Fu Ge was refreshingly different. Instead of indulging in Western fare, 10 lucky OpenRicers had the chance to dive chopsticks-first into crazy big portions of tze char dishes at Shi Fu Ge! The Chinese eatery is situated where the first air-conditioned restaurant in Sembawang once stood, over more than a decade ago. Today, Shi Fu Ge generally targets the older generation, families and big groups looking to feast on belly-warming tze char creations.

Shi Fu Ge serves up hearty, value-for-money portions

Shi Fu Ge’s mantra is, “Restaurant atmosphere; coffee shop prices”. Indeed, the air-conditioned tze char restaurant lives up to its promises. The dishes on the OpenRicers’ tasting menu included: Assam Fish Head, Seafood Bee Hoon, ‘Four Heavenly Kings’ (a mixed bean dish), Golden Chicken Cubes, Honey Pork Cubes, Tofu with Broccoli, Milky Butter Crab and Pig’s “Hands”.
