Bask in tranquility when you dine at 5-month old Burp Kitchen & Bar, a café overlooking a reservoir in the East, with a menu of American food truck-inspired grub.
The warm and inviting interior makes it perfect whether for a lazy afternoon brunch or just a place to chill at. Also, you’ll be glad to know that prices of dishes here are kept affordable with no GST or service charge applicable!
We were recently invited down for a food tasting session together with our OpenRice members. Here’s what we tried.
Salted egg fans rejoice! We started things with the Salted Egg Tofu Fries ($8), which comprises of tofu coated with flour and seasoning before they are air-fried – a healthier alternative to your usual deep-fried potato fries.
It also comes with a side of wasabi sauce for anyone up for that nose-tingling addictive kick!
For chicken wing lovers, you’ll probably steer towards their Salted Egg Wings ($14). Generously coated with salted egg sauce, the chicken wings were crispy and flavourful, yet tender and juicy on the inside.
Another of their wings specialty here is the Burp Kitchen Wings ($10). This variation is especially sweet and tangy as it is basted in a special Adobo sauce – a Spanish seasoning made of paprika, oregano, salt, garlic and vinegar.
Moving on to the mains, we had the Burp’s Beef Burger ($16). What’s interesting about the burger is that they use pea sprouts instead of the usual lettuce and comes with a side of potato salad. A choice of either tortilla chips or tofu fries is available as well.
To the cheese lovers, you’ll definitely have to try the Chicken Quesadilla ($9) stuffed with Cheddar and Mozzarella cheese. Dip it into the homemade salsa for an extra layered taste.
Their crowd pleasing Crabby Patty ($18) features a battered soft shell crab sandwiched between squid ink buns and topped with lettuce and salted egg sauce. It comes with a complimentary potato salad side as well.
The pulled pork in the ork Carnitas Tacos ($12) is slow cooked for eight hours before it is topped with apple slaw, salsa fresca and spicy mayo sauce upon serving.
Our favourite dish of the night had to be the juicy and tender Baja (pronounced “ba-ha”) Fish Tacos ($12) that features similar ingredients as in the Pork Carnitas Tacos.
