Since its establishment in Santa Monica in 1985, Todai has expanded to several countries such as Korea, China and finally...Singapore! ‘Todai’ is actually a Japanese word which means lighthouse. OpenRice was privileged to view a 30-minute demonstration by 3 experienced Korean chefs on a swift & fearless preparation of the tuna (maguro) sashimi. Despite standing up for a long time and the fishy smell, it was all worth it as I saw first-hand how they prepared the fish before they served it.

We tasted the ‘chu-toro’ (almost resembling red meat) and the ‘oh-toro’ (fatty part which most people favors the most). With a large variety of fresh seafoods and international cuisine prepared behind an open kitchen concept, diners can look forward a whole new experience of buffet dining.
