All smiles on our OpenRice members' face! Feeling satisfied after a delicious Burmese meal.
Being true to our foodie veins, we brought a group of OpenRicers to check out the real deal at Mandalay Style which serves up Shan-inspired (from the Shan tribe with Burmese-Chinese influence) cuisine. Tucked in the basement of Peninsula Excelsior Hotel, it was a hidden gem as the lady boss herself has introduced a number of authentic signatures which attracted many Burmese to dine at this rustic café-like eatery.

We had a splendid spread of food on our table for dinner with popular dishes like those golden-brown Deep Fried Pork Ribs, savoury Streaky Pork Belly Salad, delectable Mandalay Mee Shay, and the fiery Kong Pao Chicken (anti-clockwise).
The finale for the night, as well as the most popular dish, was the Steamed Fish with Special Sauce (bottom right). Covered with sweet and tangy peanut sauce which complemented well with the moist and soft texture of the fish, it left a refreshing burst of flavor lingering on the palate. No surprise, the entire fish was polished clean to the very last bit.
There are other recommended dishes on the menu including exotic ones such as the Pork Head Skin Salad and Chicken Legs Soup, too. If you are up to it, why not give it a try and write a review to tell us if you love it?!
