June Holiday Family Destination: The Grandstand
2013-06-13
School's out! If you're wondering where to take your kids to this June, look no further. With the tagline, 'Out of Town, In to Life', The Grandstand promises a lifestyle experience with fun-filled activities for the entire family. On top of that, parents can find kids’ clusters which include an exciting range of enrichment centres, an indoor playground and kids’ furniture & apparel shops. Blogger Moms Discover The Grandstand at 'Kids Fun Day'
Mom and kids enjoying the activities
On 1 June 2013, 6 lucky mommy bloggers including Evenlyn Neo (Evespiration), Winnie Lee (ToddlyMummy), Neetu Mirchandani (Super Mommy), Phoebe (BPDG Travels), Serene Seah (Xavvy Licious) and Cherry (Sweet Memoirs) had the opportunity to bring their children to the 'Kids Fun Day @ The Grandstand'. They were engaged in hands-on classes with their kids, such as an unconventional soap making session at Adamhue, hands-on painting trials at Art Grain, Lego class at Bricks 4 Kidz and yoga sessions at YogaBugs. After the activities, they were treated to a sumptuous lunch at Treehouse Cafe. This unique family restaurant provides an indoor treehouse & play area filled with toys and materials for the kids (Yes, parents can have a leisurely lunch while keeping a watchful eye!). While the menu has largely westernized influences, they do incorporate Asian touches in their dishes. They also cater baby and toddler food so the younger ones need not feel left out. The tasting menu: Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon ($16) Caesar Salad ($14 + $4 for smoked chicken / salmon) Pork Meatball in Spicy Tomato Sauce ($12) Sizzling Prawns with Garlic, Chili & Olive Oil ($14) Sauteed Spicy Mushrooms with Chili & Garlic ($9) Hawaiian 10” Pizza ($20) Gourmet Steak Burger ($22) Braised Lamb Shank ($26) Roasemary Chicken served with tomato basil sauce ($18) Curry Chicken with baguette ($15) Tiramisu, Mövenpick Ice Cream and Chocolate Lava Cake
(Clockwise) Steak Burger, Rosemary Chicken, Hawaiian Pizza, Lava Cake
Ice cream, Tiramisu and the Cafe interior
Sampling the full works from Western to Asian cuisine, our blogger moms were extremely satisfied with the meal. “The Braised Lamb Shank really impressed me as the tender meat just slides off the bones. The best part was that the meat didn't have the strong smell of lamb!” --Serene, Xavvy-Licious While they all agreed to disagree on their favourite, the general consensus was that the Braised Lamb Shank should be on everyone's must-try list. The tender meat was complemented by a creamy yet fluffy mash on the side. The Eggs Benedict was also largely popular with the savoury smoked salmon paired with perfectly-done eggs. The bloggers' picks, however, went to the desserts, especially the extremely delectable Movenpick Ice Cream and the Chocolate Lava Cake.
