Cupcakes are the perfect desserts for any age, gender and occasion. They’re petite, easy to eat, super pretty and a definite crowd pleaser. Who can resist a plate of cupcakes topped with swirls of luscious frosting whilst dressed in their sweet-looking paper cups and? We certainly can’t!

While shopping at Far East Plaza, get your cupcake fix at TenEleven Cupcakes.

Hence, we were delighted to discover this little gem of a cupcake shop tucked away at Far East Plaza. Walk past TenEleven Cupcakes and you’ll be greeted with the tempting sight of an assortment of cupcakes lined up in neat rows like soldiers of sweets! Our lucky OpenRicers got to attend a cupcake tasting where they sampled some of TenEleven Cupcakes’ most popular flavours. Let’s check out which treats got them all sugared up with confectionary pleasure.

First up is one of their best-sellers – the Strawberries & Cream cupcake which is made with fresh juicy strawberries sitting on top of fluffy whipped cream. The light and delicate flavour is refreshing and is very easy to munch up without feeling cloying. We also tried another popular flavour – the Chocolate Hazelnut cupcake. For all you chocolate lovers out there (especially for the ladies), this is the cupcake for you! Dense and velvety hazelnut chocolate spread over a rich dark chocolate cake, it was a moment of pure bliss with every bite. Tip: If you’re buying home this cupcake, pop it in the oven for a few seconds to melt the frosting for a soft silky spread. The Mocha Caramel Sea-Salt cupcake is a favourite amongst our members. The moist and fragrant mocha cake with the rich chocolate frosting is delectable but that drizzle of salted caramel sauce just took it over the top and made us do a little happy dance. TenEleven cupcakes has up to 30 flavours on the menu (all their cupcake flavours can be found on their Facebook page) but the shop will be doing a rotation between flavours so do check with them if the flavour you want is available. They also make customized cupcakes and cakes for parties and events too! And although the shop is not Halal-certified, IT IS run by Muslim owners. Hence, rum, wine, pork and lard are not used while baking. Instead, vanilla extract is added for an aromatic touch to the cupcakes.

It was a night of sweet treats and everyone left the tasting on a sugar high. Do visit TenEleven Cupcakes for homemade goodness to the last crumb.
