Portico Prime | New Modern European Menu At More Affordable Prices

Portico Prime
is housed in an outwardly capturing scene with post-war colonial house setting at the heart of Dempsey Hill. The interior is ample of spacious walkway and an amazing view is absolutely charming. Modern design, relaxing atmosphere together with a well thought out routing, oozing a refined beguile with its magnificence ambience.

Portico Prime believes in constant improvement and has created the new menu; valid for a limited time only. Each dish has its own flavour and its fans.

At first look, you might be wondering why are they serving tea when you did not order any. Don’t be mistaken, this is a delightful soup served in a teapot. It comes with the elusive flavour of lemongrass, smoky salmon, mini diced tofu and wolfberries adding depths of sweetness to the soup. It is so addictive and I had 2 servings of soup!

Semi-dried Tomato Consomme at S$16.

Large and juicy Grilled Portobello Mushroom generously filled with cauliflower floret and espuma and grated parmesan. Grilled Portobello Mushrooms are also extremely healthy. If you love mushrooms as much as I do, you will probably enjoy this smokey and sweet Grilled Portobello Mushroom.

Lightly seared seasoned Tuna, wasabi mayonnaise, pickled cucumber and chimichurri sauce.

Tuna Tataki at S$20.

And for Five Spice Sous-vide Duck Breast, I’m one of their biggest fans. Love the nice tender texture that is soaked in the goodness of roasted duck jus, flavoured with vegetable succotash and blood orange emulsion. Dip these sliced duck breast with pumpkin puree to give it a sweeter note.

Five Spice Sous-vide Duck Breast at S$36.

Mangalica Pork Neck is accompanied with king oyster mushroom, layered sweet potato, thyme-infused maple syrup roasted pork jus. The layer of soft fats found in Mangalica Pork Neck tasted like cream or butter, melts in the mouth. I feel that this dish is almost there and would be better if the texture of the meat is more tender. The accompaniments are great to go with Mangalica Pork Neck.

Mangalica Pork Neck at S$48.

The Lamb Shank is orange infused roasted celeriac and served with baby carrot and granola vadouvan. When it comes to Lamb Shank, it has a very overpowering smell and flavour to it that I just can’t stand. It’s a disappointment as the orange infused roasted celeriac has failed to cover the lamb taste. It’s such a waste as the texture of the Lamb Shank is so tender, flavours fully absorbed and falling off the bone. One of the foodies love this dish and good to go with the lamb. Maybe it’s just me.

Lamb Shank Navarin Style at S$36.

Last but not the least, there are 2 desserts that I would recommend; Matcha Azuki Beans and Deconstructed Black Forest.

The elements of Deconstructed Black Forest – Max Felchin 70% dark chocolate mousse, edible hazelnut soil, cherry coulis and caramel ice cream.

The mousse is smooth and creamy, on the right note on sweetness. While the cherry coulis perfectly blend with the sweet caramel ice cream; well balanced sweet and sour. As you are munching halfway through, traces of crunchy hazelnut soil found. A beautiful dessert dressed with layers of sweetness, sourness and crunchiness.

Deconstructed Black Forest at S$18.

The Matcha Azuki Beans has stolen all our hearts. It is not only aesthetically pleasing and also delicious! I think the matcha is able to enhance the taste of the dehydrated azuki red bean. These are set on light, airy and crispy puff pastry and drizzled with white chocolate glaze.
