PAUL: Celebrate the New Year with Galettes des Rois

If you’re thinking of ideas to entertain guests during your New Year party, PAUL has got just the right thing for you. The French artisanal bakery has just launched their Galettes des Rois ($25++ for whole pastry/ $6++ per piece), a buttery puff pastry filled generously with almond marzipan.

Also known as the King’s Cakes, the Galettes des Rois are baked to celebrate Epiphany. Since French tradition dictates that a small ceramic charm (pictured above) is to be hidden in each Galette, why not play a friendly game of roulette with your friends and family? Whoever finds the charm in their slice of Galette will be crowned royalty of the day - The ‘King’ or ‘Queen.’ The following is optional, but the winner has to buy a Galette for the next round of New Year celebration. This way, everyone wins and gets to enjoy delicious food.
