Recently revamped and arguably one of the best in Singapore, The Grand Astor Afternoon Tea features a made-in-heaven Scone Bar, which is a real hit because you don’t just get one or two kinds of scones – you get to choose from a whole array of the freshly baked goodies! Featuring both sweet and savoury versions, must-try scone types are The St. Regis Classic Scones and Perrigord Black Summer Truffles Scones.
And what’s a scone without cream, sauces, jams and accompanying spreads? Complete the experience with lashings of homemade fruit jams and conserves, assorted berries, decadent chocolate sauce, Chantilly or the obligatory clotted cream (they make it best here!). For an added oomph to the savoury scones, there’s Iberico slices, honey baked ham, and spreads like chives and espelette cream cheese or black truffle espuma.
Three-tiered Delight
It doesn’t stop at the scones. Traditionalists will delight in relishing classic finger sandwiches like Sliced Tomato and Cucumber and Smoked Salmon and Dill Cream Cheese, to the flavourful Oven-roasted Chicken with Celery and Creamy Egg-chive Mayonnaise – all which are prepared à la minute for optimum freshness.
