The Best Crêpes In Town?

Since its creation in Brittany, a charming region in the northwest of France, Crêpes have come a long way. Now, crêpes of all shapes and sizes attract people from all around the world. Japan's Harajuku street is famous for its elaborate crepe dessert creations. How about a certain crêperie in Pratunam, Thailand? It's famous for its decadent Nutella Banana crêpes. That's why it probably won't come as a surprise that crepes are gaining a steady foothold in Singapore. Ranging from quaint crêperies to well-known, international bakeries, they are becoming more than just seasonal Pasar Malam treats to indulge in.

With crêpes gaining popularity, more places that specialise in crêpes are popping up in Singapore. But which of these makes the best crêpes?

Thus, the blind taste test with 6 of the most well-known crêperies. To ensure fairness, only the basic crêpe, the butter and sugar crêpe, was tested. Everyone has their own opinion about what a crêpe should be like but 3 categories are unanimous— appearance, taste and texture.

Lets begin by introducing the crêperies and their crêpes!

And here are our final results! With the total marks being 105, here are our top 3 crêpes!

3. The Daily Roundup

With the most interesting crêpe presentation, it scored a reasonable 72.5. While its appearance was its winning factor, it didnt do too badly based on its taste and texture. For those looking for an aesthetic Instagram picture and a good crêpe, definitely try the Daily Roundup!

2. ENTRE-NOUS Crepêrie

Even with a slightly rumpled appearance, its taste and texture propelled it to the second place! With the right amount of fluffiness and sweetness, it lives up to its origins and brings you the true representation of what a crêpe is.

And drumroll please, for our top crêpe

1.     Ô Comptoir

Scoring the highest in all categories, it definitely succeeded in bringing us a delectable slice of France. With its glistening veneer of sugar, and perfectly golden colour, it impressed our taste testers with its appearance. But what really sealed the deal was its lightness and blend of crunchy sugar and soft crêpe.

Hopefully, this post inspired you to check out the crêperies in Singapore and to see them as more than just Pasar Malam treat, but rather, elegant, delightful pastries to be enjoyed—as a snack, a sweet dessert or even as a satisfying meal!
