With our voracious appetites for scrumptious seafood dishes, exhausting our oceans supplies within this lifetime is no mean feat.
But here's the good news: We have a local food industry that is supportive of upholding a sustainable seafood future together. And in conjunction with World Oceans Day, Singapore will be hosting the inaugural Sustainable Seafood Festival starting tomorrow, from 8 - 15 June 2014.
In partnership with World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), 30 hotels and restaurants will be featuring exclusive “Pick The Right Catch” dining promotions to promote responsible consumption of seafood.
Highlights
Fine dining French restaurant Absinthe impresses diners with a 6-course degustation menu, while Xi Yan offers traditional Chinese dishes.
Also, one of the newest restaurants in town Season Bistro, steps in with an exclusive festival menu at affordable prices. Enjoy savoury Carribean Salmon Skewers ($16) accompanied with a refreshing mango lime dip and Patagonian Toothfish Ceviche Taco ($15) with a tangy twist.
Luxury hotel Grand Hyatt Singapore’s four restaurants will be also serving an amazing spread of local and international dishes, including MSC-certified prawn noodle soup, scallops, sushi, sashimi, and Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) certified crispy black tilapia with salted egg yolk.
For casual dining in the heartlands, indulge in a delicious sustainable seafood spread at Bliss Restaurant outlets in Ang Mo Kio, Lavender and Kovan.
It starts at home
And thanks to Cold Storage jumping on board for the festival, wild Patagonian scallops, Asiatic hard clams, Atlantic cod, pink salmon and Alaskan pollock are now available for purchase, making sustainable shopping and cooking far more convenient than ever before.
