This time round, I tried the soup version because the last time I tried, the soup was really good so I reckoned the kway tiao soup would not affect the taste of the soup. There were some meat slices in it and the prawns were fresh. However, the soup did not taste as nice as compared to the soup without the kway tiao soaked in. Had a bowl of prawn noodles (dry) for only $3 and there were some lean pork meat and 2 big prawns, halved. The prawns were fresh and had a soft texture. There seemed to be some ketchup added into the seasoning of the gravy which made it more flavoursome but I felt that it was a little thick so I had to add some soup inside to "dilute" it. The queue seem never ending, so I decided to give a try since that I am on leave on that day. While I was waiting in the queue, I saw most of the orders was for dry mee. So I decided to go for the dry prawn mee instead of soup mee. The portion is really huge and it only cost 3 dollars. The soup was enriched with the prawn taste but maybe that will explain why the prawn taste bland. I supposed they have used the prawn to cook the soup for hours. This stall seems to have a long history behind it, with several old newspaper articles about it pasted at the front. There was a long queue, 5 persons in front of me, and even I after I ordered, I saw 5 more behind me. However, I was not impressed by the taste of the noodles. It was rather average tasting and the prawns were not sweet. As a consolation, the broth managed to win some points and save it from total disaster.
